Chapter 47: Anniversary
“Alright, to celebrate our one-month anniversary—” “Cheers!” After school on the day of our anniversary, I made my way to Kana’s room.
Smiling at me over the raised glasses was today’s heroine, Kana herself.
On the table in front of us sat a two-liter bottle of cola, along with chips, chocolates, popcorn, and other snacks.
A projector cast a streaming movie onto the white wall.
“It’s nice to have a cozy space like this just for the two of us.” “And no one to interrupt us.”
I gently patted Futaba’s head as she leaned against my shoulder. The outside world was full of all sorts of dangers.
Minase, Samidare… Just thinking about them was exhausting. But right now, in this house, it was just me and Kana.
Minase had gone out with friends. She was probably being considerate. “Let’s enjoy our anniversary to the fullest today!”
After downing her cola in one go, Kana set her glass down and hugged me. “We wouldn’t be able to do this if we weren’t alone.”
“Of course not. I wouldn’t want my sister or Samidare-chan to see.” “Well, yeah, that’d be embarrassing.”
“I hold back all the time, you know. So at least let me indulge a little now.” “I don’t mind if you cling to me anytime, though.”
“Were you even listening?” “Minase and Samidare, right? Those two probably wouldn’t care anymore, no matter how much we flirt.”
“I’m the one who’d be embarrassed! …See, you weren’t listening after all.” Kana puffed up her cheeks in a pout.
She was ridiculously cute when she acted spoiled like this. Without worrying about others around, she clung to me a hundred times more than usual.
Just like a cat. Watching a movie while snacking on popcorn, washing it down with cola, with Kana by my side… It was pure bliss.
There couldn’t possibly be a happier place than this. Well, home dates usually end in one inevitable outcome. But the journey there is what makes it special.
Getting all lovey-dovey before making love—it had to be the ultimate experience.
…Oops, gotta focus. That’s not what today is about.
I had to give her an anniversary present. I nearly let my desires distract me from the main event—the one thing I couldn’t afford to forget.
But how should I give it to her? Should I make a big deal out of it?
Or just hand it over casually, like it’s nothing? I had no idea which would be better.
For now, I’d watch the movie and gauge the moment to make my move.
