Chapter 19: The Sister Who Can’t Read the Room
“Answer me quickly! I’m not leaving until I hear it from both of you!”
Samidare didn’t care about the confused expressions on our faces and refused to step back even an inch.
It seemed like there was no escaping this situation. To break the stalemate, I decided that I should address the person Samidare was most curious about—me. If I could talk my way through this, she’d probably be satisfied and leave.
“Hey, hey, no need to be so aggressive.”
I lowered my posture, trying to calm things down, but…
“Shut up, you thief!”
“Who’s the thief here?!”
Her insolent attitude got on my nerves, and I snapped, glaring at Samidare with a harsh tone.
This brat.
I thought I’d be a little more patient since she’s a junior, but at this point, I decided to toss that idea out the window.
It was time for true equality—treating her the same way, regardless of age.
In other words, if she throws a punch, I’ll throw one right back.
“Ugh… I’m not backing down just because you glare at me,” Samidare muttered, a bit nervous under my intense gaze. Still, she struck a fighting pose, raising her fists as if to intimidate me.
There was absolutely no intimidation there, which made it even more ridiculous.
“Heh, this desperate fan who’s head over heels for her oshis,” I scoffed, glancing down at her with a look of disdain.
“Hey, don’t take it too far with a junior like that, Sohma,” Kana said with a disappointed look.
I messed up there. I got carried away, and now I’m intimidating this cute junior who doesn’t deserve it.
“See, now you’re scaring her,” Kana added.
“You were freaking out earlier too, though,” I shot back.
“Forget about that right now! What do we do from here?!”
“What do you want me to do? I can’t exactly tell the truth, and if I try to brush it off, she’s just gonna press me for answers.”
“Come up with a good solution!”
“Do you really think the best answer’s gonna come from me?! You should ask your sister standing right next to you. She’s the one who knows what to do!”
“Oh, right. You’re right.”
As we whispered among ourselves, it became clear that the person we could rely on here was Minase.
We exchanged glances, silently begging for her help. She nodded as if she understood what was going on and finally spoke.
“So, Samidare-chan, right? You want to know about Sohma-kun and our relationship, right?”
“Y-yes! I mean, my oshis just called me by my name… hehehe…”
“Well, Samidare-chan, it’s not exactly what you’re thinking,” Minase replied calmly.
“So… you’re not dating him, are you?”
“Of course not. I don’t want any part in a messy love triangle,” Minase said casually.
“Ah, I’m so relieved! That’s good to hear.”
We all let out a sigh of relief when Samidare looked happy and reassured. Minase was definitely reliable in these situations. If anything troublesome came up, I decided I’d leave it all to her.
But then Minase dropped a bombshell.
“I’m the one who’s dating him. Sohma and I just started dating a few days ago. We’re a hot, fresh couple.”
Minase spoke without hesitation, and then turned to me with a smug look, giving me a thumbs-up as if to say, this is how it is.
Forget what I said earlier. I will never leave things to this sister.
This damn older sister! I swear, I want to smack that smug face off of her right now!
