Flirting with the person next to you during class. Part -2.
My heart raced.
However, the teacher continued without any admonition, proceeding with the lesson.
Phew. They didn’t notice.
I breathed a sigh of relief. It was quite a thrilling experience.
Well, misbehaving during class, including this kind of thing, is part of the fun.
As I thought about what to write next, I was suddenly jolted as the chair’s leg was kicked.
I turned to Sajou-san with a questioning look, and she glanced at me with a half-closed eye.
Then, she gestured to the top of the desk.
Following her fingertips, I found a scrap of paper that wasn’t there before.
Did Sajou-san leave it? Puzzled, I unfolded the neatly folded paper, and my cheeks twitched.
“It seems fun. Can the teacher join in too?”
Quite a sarcastic comment.
Being called out so boldly in front of the whole class is unpleasant, but experiencing it firsthand is quite a sting. Did they figure it out?
Reluctantly, I turned my gaze to the teacher on the platform, who was explaining the author’s feelings from the open textbook. Our eyes met perfectly. Their index finger pointed firmly. It seemed like a playful scolding, urging me to cut out the antics.
A witty response. Just because they’re a new teacher doesn’t mean they should be underestimated. Well played.
Well, it can’t be helped.
It wasn’t originally a game, and being called out means I lose. I don’t really understand how I lost or what I lost, but as the teacher was the winner, I decided to take the lesson seriously, just as the teacher said.
…This didn’t solve the problem that led to this situation, but… I’ll bear with it.
I sighed.
So… where are we now?
I couldn’t figure out which page of the textbook we were on. The page we had open was already finished, and flipping through the pages didn’t match the board or the teacher’s explanation.
Why is it that sometimes in class, instead of going through the textbook in order, they skip pages?
I’m really struggling here.
If it’s meant as a retaliation against students who don’t listen in class, I see. It’s quite effective, and I have to reluctantly accept it, but probably not.
Frowning and squinting at the textbook, suddenly a white hand appeared from the side of my vision.
Surprised, I widened my eyes, and the pages were flipped back and forth. Then, it stopped abruptly.
The open page matched both the board and the teacher’s explanation.
As I followed the withdrawn hand, I collided with black eyes.
“Thanks,” I whispered, only to have the person turn away.
Still not straightforward, as usual.
And even though she doesn’t seem interested in attending class, she listens, huh?
I wonder if it sticks in her mind or something.
Could it be that she’s better at studying than me…?
It stings a bit to lose to someone who hasn’t attended class even for a day, even though I’m not particularly diligent in studying. If she scores higher on the final exam…
Yeah, I should pay more attention in class.
It was a day where a bit of enthusiasm for studying was born.
…But.
“Stop that kind of thing during class, okay?”
“…Yes.”
After class. I was called out to the corner of the hallway by the teacher and cooled down my enthusiasm.
Actually, why am I the only one being scolded? What about Sajou-san?
“Make sure to warn Sajou-san too.”
I couldn’t bring myself to say, “Please do it yourself.”
And then, time passed, and the chime signaling the end of the morning classes echoed throughout the school.
Simultaneously, it also signaled the beginning of the lunch break, a time of both heaven and hell.
