When I Brought The Lost Little Girl To Her House, The One Who Came Out Of The Front Door Was The Most Beautiful Girl In The Grade. - Chapter 91
“Alright, take your seats.”
At the teacher’s words, students took their seats in order of their assigned numbers.
We were no exception. We sat in our assigned seats, separated from Mimura and Souta.
“Now, let’s change seats right away.”
Upon the homeroom teacher’s announcement, the classroom erupted with joy. Everyone seemed delighted. Could it be that everyone dislikes sitting in order of their assigned numbers? No, everyone just enjoys the event of changing seats.
And, of course, they daydreamed about the possibility of ending up next to someone they like or have a crush on. I certainly did the same.
However, the current seats are surprisingly close to Kuroda and Shirakawa…
With that in mind, the seat-changing lottery began.
When it comes to seat-changing, drawing lots is the standard procedure.
“Alright, next.”
It was my turn. I reached into the small box, took out a folded piece of paper, and opened it.
My new seat was one row in front of the back, next to the window.
“Alright, this is a good one.”
I whispered quietly and gave a smug glance to Mimura and Souta.
“Is it a good one?”
When Ayano returned to her seat, she asked with a smile on her face.
“Yeah, it’s a good one.”
“Aw, you’re lucky.”
“Luck is part of one’s abilities.”
I replied, and Ayano made a determined fist with her small hand, looking all fired up.
“Ayano-san…?”
“I’ll work hard to get a good seat too.”
“Well, it’s more about luck, so working hard or not…”
“Luck is also part of one’s abilities.”
“No, that’s not what I meant…”
Ayano took a deep breath and faced the teacher’s desk.
She clasped her hands together and sent her wishes. The people around us couldn’t help but comment on Ayano’s cuteness, saying things like “She’s so adorable” or “I want to hug her,” but the person herself seemed completely unaware and unbothered.
“This one!”
After saying that and pulling a piece of paper, she trembled for some reason. When she returned to her seat, there were faint teardrops in her eyes.
“How… How did it go?”
Her reaction was probably a disappointment. But I asked Ayano hesitantly.
“It’s the front seat by the window…”
“Oh… that’s unfortunate.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah…”
“They’ll catch me napping.”
I nodded along with Ayano’s words and she looked at me with a bewildered expression.
“I thought it was a waste to be separated from you, Yuusei-kun, but you’re different, right?”
“No, it’s not like…”
My voice was drowned out by the teacher’s command to “change seats.”
After the seat change was completed, I stared out of the window and sighed. Suddenly, I felt a poke on my back.
“What’s up?”
“Boo!”
Although a different girl had been sitting behind me earlier… why was Ayano behind me now? Was it an illusion?
“Did I startle you?” Ayano asked with a smile.
I could only respond with an “Uh-huh,” but inside, I was genuinely surprised and happy.
“Hey, isn’t this the wrong seat?”
“It was until a moment ago.”
“Until a moment ago?”
“Yeah, I was asked to switch seats because my eyesight is bad. I asked the teacher, and they said it was okay.”
“I see…”
Oh no, my cheeks were starting to relax into a smile, and I had to suppress a laugh.
“Aren’t you happy?” Ayano asked with a grin.
“Of course I am!” I said, trying to sound nonchalant.
“Hehe, me too!”
She beamed at me, and her infectious smile affected those around us.
