When I Brought The Lost Little Girl To Her House, The One Who Came Out Of The Front Door Was The Most Beautiful Girl In The Grade. - Chapter 11
I’ve been searching for a book that interests me since a while ago, but there’s no sign of finding one at all. In fact, I was starting to consider giving up and heading back.
“Did you find anything good?”
“No, I haven’t come across anything yet.”
“Really? You’ve just been wandering around the area for a while now…”
Though Shirakawa said this in an exasperated tone, it was the truth, so I couldn’t retort and fell silent.
Oh, as I was pondering what to do, a nice fragrance wafted into my nose. And there was Shirakawa beside me, looking for a book.
“A book that Kuroda-kun might like, huh?”
She truly had beautiful skin, big eyes with long eyelashes, almost like someone you’d see on TV. Her hair was silky black, and I imagined she took good care of it.
“Ah! How about this one?”
Saying that, she handed me the novel version of an inspiring work that had been adapted into a movie.
“Have you read it before?”
“No, I’ve only seen the movie.”
“Try reading it! It’s a different kind of emotion from the movie!”
“O-Okay…”
I wondered if there would be such a big difference between the movie and the book. The plot seemed mostly the same, but…
I decided to give it a try, thinking that Shirakawa might have tricked me.
From the beginning to the middle, it was pretty much the same as the movie, and I thought I had been deceived… However, as it went on, I discovered details about the characters’ emotions and settings that weren’t in the movie, and I found myself genuinely moved.
Before I knew it, I was eagerly turning one page after another to see what would happen next.
I read for a good two hours and immediately wanted to share these emotions with someone.
“Shirakawa…”
When I tried to talk to her, she was already using her arm as a pillow, sound asleep.
She must have been bored for those two hours. Or maybe I’m in trouble for not noticing that she fell asleep while I was reading.
I thought about waking her up, but it seemed a bit pitiful, so I decided to let her sleep.
Thanks to Shirakawa, my book review went smoothly. She’s truly a savior.
While waiting for Shirakawa to wake up, I continued writing my book review, and when I reached the last paragraph, I added the familiar lines: “It was really wonderful. It was a fantastic piece of work.”
It was already past 4:30, even though we arrived around 1:00.
I figured I should wake her up soon, so I shook her shoulder.
The sensation of touching her shoulder was very feminine, and I wanted to touch it more… but let’s stop here.
As I shook her, Shirakawa made a “hmm” sound, and her heavy eyelids opened halfway, emitting a somewhat seductive voice.
“What’s wrong, Kuroda-kun?”
“It’s not that something’s wrong. It’s just that it’s already 4:30, so maybe we should head home.”
“…What about the book review?”
“Thanks to you, it’s done. I appreciate it.”
“Hmm, that’s good…”
She still seemed a bit drowsy, struggling to put her words together as she stretched.
And then, I could clearly see the emphasized hills from her dress. Quite clearly.
“Sorry for keeping you waiting. Shall we go then?”
“Yeah, sure.”
“Why is your face red?”
“Maybe because it’s hot?”
“Huh? Isn’t the air conditioning too cold?”
Of course, saying it was because of the heat was a lie. After seeing those well-defined hills and having to walk home with a beautiful girl like Shirakawa, any guy would blush, I think…
“Oh, that’s right! How was that book?”
“It was really great. The parts that weren’t in the movie were very interesting, and it was touching.”
“See! I told you!”
She seemed happy that I agreed, bouncing around like a rabbit. Or rather, more like a chick fluttering its wings.
“Thanks a lot. I’ll repay you sometime.”
“Huh?”
Shirakawa looked at me with a puzzled expression, as if asking, “Why?”
“Huh?”
“It’s just something I did on my own, and I did it because I wanted to, so it’s all good!”
She waved her hand widely to show that it was fine.
“Well, I don’t really want to borrow anything or such…”
“Um, then… Let’s exchange Contact info.”
“Huh? Contact info?”
“Yeah, is that okay?”
It’s not that it wasn’t okay, but why would she want to do that with someone like me? And there are rumors that she has a boyfriend too, so is it really alright…?
“Of course, I’m fine with it, but don’t you have a boyfriend, Shirakawa? I mean, it might not be right to do this with someone else…”
“Huh? I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“Oh, I see… I thought you did.”
“I’ve liked someone since elementary school.”
When I heard that she didn’t have a boyfriend now, strangely, I felt relieved. But then when she said she’s liked someone since elementary school, for some reason, I started feeling flustered.
What am I doing…
That flustered feeling disappeared when we finished adding each other as friends on our contacts.
“Okay, my house is right there! See you later, Kuroda-kun!”
“Yeah, see you.”
Still a bit dim outside, I parted ways with Shirakawa near her house. We exchanged contact info, and today, to be honest, was quite tiring with all the things that happened.
Hmm? Didn’t Shirakawa say “see you later” just now? It’s not just my imagination… probably not.
But will we really meet up and hang out again?
