When I Brought The Lost Little Girl To Her House, The One Who Came Out Of The Front Door Was The Most Beautiful Girl In The Grade. - Chapter 10
The summer vacation is already halfway through, no, approaching its end.
Well, naturally, I haven’t finished my summer homework yet.
Of all things, there’s still that troublesome book report to do, and I’m feeling a sense of urgency.
“What should I do…”
Until now, I somehow managed to finish everything just in time, but this time, I haven’t even decided on which book to read.
Staying at home won’t get me anywhere, so I put my pencil case and writing paper in my bag and leave the house.
I thought that if I went to the library, I could read the book there and write the report on the spot, so I took action immediately.
I felt like it was a pretty good idea, even if I do say so myself.
However, the moment I stepped out from the cool, air-conditioned room, the hot air attacked my body.
“It’s so hot…”
Unconsciously, I let out a lazy voice. In the sweltering heat, I descended the stairs and pushed open the front door, heading towards the library.
The blazing sun was assertively making its presence felt, and it felt really annoying.

“Oh, Kuroda-kun.”
“Shirakawa… What are you doing?”
“I just had something to do at the library.”
“What about you, Kuroda-kun?” She leaned slightly forward, looking curious.
I stepped back a bit in response to her inquisitive demeanor.
“I’m also on my way to the library.”
“Oh, what a coincidence! Then let’s go together!”
“Well… I guess it’s fine.”
“Thank you!”
Shirakawa smiled, and her white dress and black hair swayed.
“So, what are you going for?”
“Um… I have to write a book report.”
“Ah, that’s such a hassle.”
“You must have finished all your assignments already.”
“I finished the book report yesterday.”
I muttered quietly, feeling a bit envious.
If she’s done with hers, maybe I could ask to see it and make some changes so it doesn’t look exactly the same…
“Oh, Shirakawa’s book report…”
“I’m not showing it to you.”
“Huh…”
“Do it on your own.”
“Okay…”
She quickly refused. Still, I thought she might consider it for a moment. As I turned away slightly, she burst into laughter.
“Haha! What’s with that expression? So cute!”
“Stop teasing me about being cute.”
“I’m not teasing you! You really are cute.”
“I don’t like the way you’re saying it.”
“Aw, you’re so mean!”
As we chatted, we arrived at the library in no time.
Am I the only one who thought it was surprisingly close?
“It’s closer than I thought.”
Shirakawa seemed to think the same. Well, when you’re chatting, distances tend to feel shorter.
We placed our belongings down and sat facing each other at a table.
“Ahh, it’s cool here.”
As I placed my belongings on the table, I rested my head on the cool surface like a slime.
“Let’s cool off a bit first.”
“By the way, why did you come to the library, Shirakawa?”
“To return this book.”
She took a book out of her bag and showed it to me.
“And also, in the library, we should talk quietly, okay?”
“Yes…”
She put her index finger on her lips, making a shushing gesture.
“So, let’s talk in a hushed voice.”
“…” I nodded quietly. I agreed with Shirakawa’s suggestion as I didn’t want to disturb others around us.
“I must admit, it does feel kind of exciting,” Shirakawa said.
Now that she mentioned it, I suppose this situation could be exciting. It’s like having a secret conversation between just the two of us…
“Oh, yes, you’re right,” I replied.
“Hehe, exactly,” she giggled.
But wait, when I think about it more carefully, what should I do in this situation? If someone sees us like this… No, let’s not raise any flags. I just hope no one comes along.
“Well then, shall we look for the book?” Shirakawa stood up. However, even though she said we should look, I have no idea where to start. I don’t usually read anything other than light novels and manga.
Sure, I could write a book report on those, but I doubt the teacher would ever allow it.
With my hand on my chin, I found myself lost in thought, pondering what to do next.
