When I Brought The Lost Little Girl To Her House, The One Who Came Out Of The Front Door Was The Most Beautiful Girl In The Grade. - Chapter 1
During the summer of my second year in high school, it was a day when cicadas were chirping loudly.
I realized that I didn’t have lunch today, so I came to the convenience store to buy a bento.
As I rode my bicycle, sweat was dripping down from my forehead to my cheeks.
When I arrived at the convenience store and was about to park my bicycle in the bike parking area, I noticed a little girl standing all alone.
I thought she must be waiting for someone, maybe her mother or someone else… because it’s not safe for a little girl to be alone in a place like this.
At first, that’s what I thought. However, the little girl seemed restless and uneasy.
Lately, things have been quite dangerous around here, so I couldn’t just leave her alone and not feel guilty about it.
Reluctantly, I decided to approach her and talk to her. But at a time like this, I didn’t know how to speak to her properly.
I tried my best to remember how my mother used to talk to me when I was a child.
I lowered myself to her eye level and spoke to her.
“Hello, are you all by yourself? Are you waiting for your mother?”
When I addressed her, the little girl was startled and her shoulders twitched. I scolded myself because, of course, she would react that way, but it hurt a little to be surprised by her response.
Since she didn’t say anything, I assumed that she must have been taught not to follow strangers and decided on my own that she was waiting for her mother. I tried to enter the convenience store, but she grabbed onto the hem of my clothes.
“U-Um…lost…”
“Huh?”
“I-I was… playing alone in the park, and when… I tried to go back home, I got lost…”
She conveyed this in a voice that sounded like she was about to cry. Whether it was meddlesome of me or not, I ended up deciding to take her home.
“Okay, first, do you have anything inside your bag that you were told to show someone in case you got lost?”
“Um… um… no… I’m sorry…”
She seemed like she was about to cry again, so I smiled gently to ease her anxiety as I said, “It’s okay.”
(But, wow, it takes a lot of energy to interact with a little kid like this… I never thought it would be this tiring…)
While thinking about such things, first, I search for the nearest park on my smartphone.
“Oh, it came up.”
The little child looked puzzled, but we held hands and walked to the park.
Children are mysterious beings; even though she’s with a stranger, she seems to feel safe, singing the frog song next to me.
After listening to the little girl’s frog song about three times, we arrived at the nearest park.
“Ah… here! I played here!”
“Then, have you been told any landmarks to use when going back home from the park?”
“Yeah, we go straight back from the place where the entrance is written.”
The little girl answered while tightly holding my hand.
(I see, she must have accidentally gone straight out from the exit without going back to the entrance.)
I thought that she probably had so much fun playing at the park that she forgot.
“Well then, if we keep going straight, we should reach your home…”
“Really?!”
“Yes, of course.”
Saying that, I held the cheerful girl’s hand and continued walking.
Suddenly, the girl started running.
“I found it! It’s home!”
She happily pointed it out to me.
“Well then, let’s ring the doorbell just to be polite.”
I rang the doorbell, and I heard the girl’s voice saying, “Yes?”
“Oh, it’s big sister!”
Big sister? There’s a big sister too? I felt a little nervous, and as soon as I thought that, a beautiful girl with long black hair that is said to be the most beautiful in her grade at our school, Shirakawa Ayano, appeared at the opened door.
“Big sister!!”
The girl who was with me until just now buried her face into her big sister’s stomach.
“W-What are you doing? What’s going on?”
Perhaps she was worried, she quickly turned her gaze towards me.
“Ah, um, your little sister got lost in the convenience store, so, um, I just escorted her home… that’s all! It’s true! There’s nothing suspicious!”
“It’s alright! Just by looking at her expression, I can tell you didn’t do anything.”
“R-Really?”
I felt relieved that I wasn’t being suspected. The sister also smiled with relief.
“Yes! It’s true! Haha, and I know that you’re not the type to do anything bad, right? Kuroda Yuusei-kun?”
When she called my name while laughing, I was taken aback.
“Why do you know my name?”
“We were in the same cooking group for the elective home economics class, remember?”
“You remember from just one time?”
“My memory is quite good.”
She proudly pushed her chest forward, so her chest was slightly emphasized. She was dressed casually, but according to rumors, she’s somewhere between a D and an F cup.
“Well, then, I’ll be going…”
“Wait a minute!”
As I tried to escape, Shirakawa stopped me.
“My sister caused trouble, so come inside. I’m making dinner right now, you know?”
“Well, um…”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. I want to hear more about what happened.”
Saying that, I couldn’t refuse and was persuaded to stay for dinner.
