We are pretending....right? - Chapter 4- He\'s my boyfriend!
A long heavy silence ensued in the classroom after Kabura growled out his words related to yesterday’s incident.
Sumire was left flabbergasted about the fact that Kabura actually saw her despite their path by no means aligning at all. But her bafflement seemed for Kabura that someone was caught in the act.
“What happened? You didn’t think I will catch you cheating eh?”
Sumire’s brows knitted in a frown as she stared back at the short-hair boy in contempt, making the latter instantly realize that he had crossed the boundary he shouldn’t have.
“Cheating? Remind me when did we start dating Kabura-kun that you call me cheating on you? And do tell me why does it matter to you with whom I wander around?”
“Ah—I didn’t mean…”
Kabura stepped back with a flustered expression since he knew what he said in a fit of anger was entirely repulsive for someone like Sumire who doesn’t like controlling people at all. More so, he was only her friend and not someone closer to say such stuff.
But now the arrow has left the bow and he can only hear what he never wanted to…
“If you are really curious about him, then listen to me carefully. That guy is my boyfriend, you understand? Now if you are done with your queries then piss off!”
Nearly shouting her words in the end, Sumire plopped down on her completely discarding Kabura’s presence. Her irritation was so prominent that she didn’t even realize what words left her lips at all. She just wanted to flare back at Kabura with the meanest insult she can and calling Sou her boyfriend seemed the best route.
Kabura was standing still at his place, with his eyes fixated on Sumire but he was not in his right mind to say anything at the moment or bother with the prying eyes from his surroundings.
“…sorry.”
With his words fading Kabura left the classroom with a complicated expression spread on his face but Sumire had no intention to be troubled about him nor was she intending to forgive him.
Time passed and soon the homeroom teacher arrived. The whispers naturally buzzed down with time as the sound of the lessons started reverberating in the class.
Generally, Sumire paid her mind to what is being taught in the class since she wasn’t much good in her academic records and always tried to be as diligent as she could in her studies. But right now, she had her mind drowned in embarrassment and guilt to focus on anything else.
Embarrassment since she declared her relationship so openly and guilt since she never took consent from Sou to introduce him as her boyfriend. Thanks to the fact that the school time Sou and the flashy Sou look so different or who knows what problem Kabura might have arisen for him.
‘What I am going to do…’
Resigning to her impulsive decision, Sumire made up her choice and waited for the school to end. Since at lunch break, she knew she wouldn’t get the chance to have a peaceful chat.
“Sumi-chan~ what did you bring today?”
As the lunch break arrived four of her classmates gathered around her desk as they generally do to eat together. Akari was also a part of the group but thankfully she wasn’t present today or who knows how she would have reacted.
“Uhh…nothing much just…”
As Sumire chatted casually she got up to adjust her seat with the girls. There was no restriction on eating lunch in the back side of the school but most of the spots are taken by love birds and so the cafeteria so they just camp in the classroom.
Sumire slightly turned toward her back of the seat, specifically in Sou’s direction, and found his eyes staring out of the window. There didn’t seem any kind of change in his behavior which made her slightly relieved. But that didn’t mean she would back out and wouldn’t apologize for what she did.
“Sumi-chan? Is everything okay?”
It seemed she dazed off staring at Sou for a longer period than she thought as when she redirected her gaze to her face, everyone was looking at her with confusion.
“Ah, it’s nothing. See I brought cabbage roll, Rika’s favorite….”
“Waah! Arigato Sumire.”

It was after school when everyone more or less had left the premise. Those who were involved in sports were still on the ground but being a part of the literary club, Sumire had no obligation to visit her club often.
Sumire stayed back in the classroom to have a chat with Sou by making excuses to her friends that she has to meet the homeroom sensei regarding some work. Fortunately, Kabura never pestered her nor appeared in front of her.
But the person for whom she made all the excuses already left the class before she can even realize it.
“Did I make him mad…”
Standing near his seat, Sumire felt slightly tensed thinking that she might have pissed Sou off. She can understand if he really would have gotten angry with her since without consent being called someone lover would make anyone annoyed.
She would have never said so but Sou seemed to be in requirement of a fake relationship as well so wouldn’t it be fine? She was agreeing with his offer after all…
‘Whom am I comforting…’
Sighing she turned to walk away and think how she could sort this situation when suddenly she heard a strangely familiar voice calling for her.
“Why the long face?”
Sumire’s eyes widened as her eyes fell on the person staring back at her from behind his thin-framed glasses. For a second she thought she was hallucinating because of her desperation but he seemed to be too real to account for it otherwise.
“I was about to leave, but being your boyfriend I thought it was my duty to see you off, right?”
