We are pretending....right? - Chapter 3- Who was he?!
The boy sitting in front, who previously introduced himself as Sanada Sou-kun, seemed a weird guy.
He looks cool and handsome in Sumire’s perception. Someone who could’ve casual relationships with most of the girls he wants, not to talk about his ‘mind-blowing’ humor.
But why he proposed out of the blue to her, especially when she was looking her worst and didn’t have previous much interaction with her? For Sumire, Sou was just like any other classmate she associates herself with and talks casually despite the other party mostly avoiding her, now when she thinks about it.
Whatever his intention was…he seemed suspicious…
“Before you make up your assumption or put up a tag of anything weird on me again, I would like you to hear me to the end.”
Sumire got her cold coffee served so she had no problem hearing his story.
Leaning on the comfortable sofa she gestured for him to continue.
“The thing is…I need a girlfriend whom I can bring to meet my father or he would forcibly take me away to America. And since you are also in some kind of need of a partner who can get you out of your situation, I thought we might help each other?”
Sumire was taken aback hearing his reasoning for this fake relationship since she thought it might be the same for Sou as well. She assumed that he was stuck in some kind of triangle as well, but he was rather running away from his father.
She indeed was in dire need to solve this situation of her two friends without breaking their friendship in the process since seeing Akira crying always makes Sumire sad as well.
And this fake relationship seemed the excellent plan she could cling to in order to not look suspicious or anything. It was a plus point that Kabura never confessed his feelings to her outwardly since now Sumire could choose to date anyone she likes and there would be no one to pester her.
But…
“It’s all good and settling but I need to think, Sanada-kun.”
By expression, it seemed he was somehow expecting her answer but he didn’t seem particularly bothered by it and Sumire was satisfied by his reaction.
If he would have persisted she might have called the matter off and walked away.
But she didn’t think as well that his following words would be so ruthless…
“You have until tomorrow evening to think about it since after that I would look for someone else.
Sumire’s lips parted since despite not wanting to rush her decision she didn’t want to let this golden opportunity go as well. But before she could have formulated her next word, Sou got up and left the table with a faint, “See ya..” behind.

Sumire was in a daze ever since she returned home after buying everything robotically without pondering about the quality and price which she generally does.
She wasn’t particularly bothered by the fact that he gave her a time limit since Sumire could have given her answer on impulse and seen how things go, as she usually do.
But what made her confused was the reason he chose to ask her of all people.
She wasn’t sure whether she was first or not..or maybe she was, but the fact that he had his own selfishness blended in this relationship made her believe that it might be not bad for a shot?
“Nee-san, I might die at this rate.”
“Ah! It’s done. Help me with the dishes.”

The next day, Sumire received an apology text from Akira about their previous conversation as she told him that today she would be absent because of a viral cold.
Sumire had a smile all the time she walked into the classroom. Despite not being entirely but Akira still was the same Sumire remembers from the good old days.
“Good morning, Asuzawa-san~”
“Morning, Kudo-kun.”
“Ohayo~ Sumi-san.”
“Morning.”
Replying to the greetings which as usual flew to her from the different corners, Sumire made her way to her seat which was in the middle of the last column.
She doesn’t know why but she wasn’t able to look in Sou’s direction despite knowing he wasn’t looking at her.
She was thinking about him, all the time and the fact he appeared in her dream as well, made her realize how desperately she thinks about everything…or maybe not?
Naturally, she would be embarrassed down the core to face him now. Not to talk about that she still was unsure of what she should say as an answer to his proposal.
*Slide*
Suddenly someone entered the class and with heavy steps approached Sumire. The mood of the boy seemed anything but approachable which told the others how spicy this morning’s drama would be going to be.
“Kabura-kun?”
Sumire tilted her head since Kabura should not be in school this early as he has a habit to arrive late and most of the time submitting an apology letter to the discipline committee.
“Who was he…”
Sumire frowned since she didn’t like the tone he directed at her with her voice growing heavy as well, she asked in response.
“Who is the ‘he’ we are talking about here…?”
The hushed buzz have already started erupting in the classroom as some of the students even took out their phones to make a video of the conversation unfolding.
But the short-haired guy in front of Sumire cared about none as while suppressing his agitation he again asked in a profound tone.
“Who is that guy, for whom you ditched our plan and went to the café?”
