- Chapter 7 - Going strongly after the cool tempered beautiful kuudere girl
“Uh… How much of a weirdo are you… If it weren’t for someone like me, Shirogane-san could have caught a better man.”
“It’s not good manners to recommend another man to a girl who is trying to bring herself down.”
Staring at Naoya, Koyuki let out a small sigh.
“Besides, if you call me a weirdo, then I am one too.”
“Shirogane-san? Why?”
“You know it too, right? My nickname, ‘The Poisonous Snow White’ in school.”
Koyuki smiled self-deprecatingly and looked down at her empty coffee cup.
“I have this kind of personality. I don’t have many friends, and hardly anyone comes close to me. I’m just as much of a weirdo as you are.”
“Yeah, I’ve been hearing rumors about you for a while.”
“That’s right.”
Koyuki ran her fingers through her hair.
“Well, maybe it’s also because you’re too perfect and hard to approach. It’s not easy to be envied by the lower-class citizens.”
“Hmm.”
70… no, 90% of what she said was serious.
As Naoya half-heartedly listened, Koyuki coughed and put on a triumphant smile.
“That’s why. I need a man who’s just as weird as I am to match me. Sasahara-kun seems to be just right for my tastes, so I’ll play with him for a while. You should be honored.”
She narrowed her eyes and licked her lips. Her small tongue had a vivid shade of red, reminiscent of a poisonous spider that could devour a man.
“I’ll definitely make you fall for me. And if there’s no hope for you, I’ll ruthlessly throw you away. Hehe… It will be quite comical to see a man like you kneeling before me in humiliation.”
“To make me fall for you… huh.”
Naoya pondered over her words. After thinking for a while, he spoke up.
“But… it might be a waste of time.”
“Huh? You won’t know until you try. No matter what you say, I…”
“Well, it’s just that… I think I’ve already fallen for you a little.”
“Huh…?~”
“Not that much. But, maybe quite a bit.”
“Wha—… What are you saying all of a sudden!?”
Koyuki let out a surprised voice. The surrounding customers seemed to have gotten used to her reactions by now and only glanced at her briefly. There were even some signs that they were silently watching the situation unfold in the shop.
Without noticing it at all, Koyuki pointed her trembling index finger, “Wh-what are you suddenly saying! You told me to go to another man not long ago and now you are saying that you like me… stop making such a boring joke!”
“I’m sorry, but I’m really serious about that matter.”
Naoya just shrugged his shoulders.
Then he calmly revealed his true feelings, with no lies or deceit, just as he truly thought and felt about her.
“There is a girl who is willing to work hard for me. She is also incredibly cute and fun to be with.”
“Cu-cute!?”
“Furthermore, she likes me, even though she recognizes that I’m a weirdo. Isn’t it strange not to have feelings for her?”
“Ugh, aah, guh…”
Koyuki’s mouth opened and closed like a fish gasping for air, but she can’t seem to form any coherent words.
All the girls who had approached Naoya had gotten to know him and then left after they knew of his ability to read their minds like an open book.
Yet Koyuki had declared that she would stay by his side, even after knowing everything about him. It felt as though the world had suddenly turned upside down.
Light danced around Koyuki, blinding Naoya and he was unable to see anything else in his vicinity. This was what love was, he realized that for the first time.
Now, there was only one thing left to do.
“So, Shirogane-san. If you don’t mind being with such a weirdo, then…”
“Stop!”
Koyuki interrupted Naoya’s words with a raised hand.
She gave a strong smile — although the corner of her mouth was still trembling and her eyes were full of tears, and her voice was somewhat shrill – as she continued calmly.
“Hmph!… Sasahara-kun, as someone who severely lacks intellect and sensitivity, I’ll give you some advice… there’s an order to things, you know. We need to get to know each other better first.”
“But if we both like each other, then there shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
“I don’t like you! How many times do I have to tell you?”
Koyuki furrowed her perfectly shaped eyebrows and yelled in anger.
Of course, her face was so red because of embarrassment that Naoya wasn’t scared at all.
“Anyway, I won’t listen to any stupid jokes, so don’t say anything more or I’ll get angry.”
“I mean… well, I guess that’s possible, but… ugh!”
Naoya clapped his hands lightly.
“You’re worried because I said it so easily. You think I’m just in love with myself.”
“Ugh… well, maybe that’s not entirely true, but…”
“Okay, then it’s simple.”
Naoya leaned forward and took Koyuki’s hand across the table.
As a result, Koyuki let out a small scream. Naoya wrapped both of his hands around her small hand that was quickly becoming warm and her back straightened up because of his sudden approach.
“From now on, I’ll be counting on you, Shirogane-san. I’ll let you know that I love you just as much as you love me. Then, I’ll ask for your answer again.”
“That’s why…!”
Koyuki trembled and then screamed out loudly.
“I don’t care about you at all!”
“You’re cute when you mess up at the important parts.”
“I can’t take it anymore!”
