After school that day, Koyuki was already waiting for him in front of the main gate.

Amongst the crowd of students heading home, her arms crossed stance made her stand out. Naoya headed straight towards her.

“Sorry, did I keep you waiting?”

“Hmph, it’s fine. I told you, I don’t like owing favors.”

Koyuki maintained a stern expression.

As expected, her face had now lost its blush.

She then pointed her index finger straight at Naoya.

It was like the look of a lion hunting its prey, with a killing intent that pierced through him.

“As you said during lunch break, I really do want to show my gratitude. But that’s all there is to it. Don’t get any wrong ideas.”

“Eh. That’s impossible, isn’t it?”

Naoya shrugged off her intimidation effortlessly.

“It’s because I’m going on a date with such a cute girl after school. It would be strange if my spirits didn’t rise.”

“What… a… date?!”

Koyuki’s face turned bright red when she heard the word ‘date’ from him.

However, this time she didn’t fall silent. Trembling with rage, she turned her back to him and said,

“Hmph… Don’t flatter me. It’s pointless. I’m used to hearing that kind of thing. Really, it’s not a big deal.”

“Eh. But you look really happy, don’t you?”

“That’s just your imagination! From here until we get to the store, no talking is allowed! Got it!?”

“This is a high difficulty date.”

“It’s not a date! Just shut up and follow me!”

Koyuki started walking, bristling with anger, and Naoya followed her quietly.

The other students around them looked on with lukewarm gazes. 

The fact that “The Poisonous Snow White” invited a male student on a date had already become a school-wide rumor.

The school they attended, Otsuki Academy, was located in the middle of the city.

As a result, there were countless cheap chain stores around where students could stop by. Koyuki went straight into one of them, a doughnut shop.

Since Naoya had no objections, he followed her and ordered a set of doughnuts and coffee. They sat at a table for two and faced each other.

“…..”

Koyuki stared fixedly at the donut without moving a muscle. It was clear that she was nervous.

“Um, can I eat first?”

Naoya nodded silently.

With her permission granted, he reached out and grabbed the donut without hesitation. As he had a growing body, the taste of the snack was particularly delicious.

While he was savoring the flavor of the doughnut, Koyuki spoke up.

“Um…”

“Hmm?”

“You seem to be really perceptive… Do you already know what I want to say?”

“Yeah, of course I do.”

Naoya finished the donut and wiped the sugar off his fingers with a napkin.

“But you want to say it yourself. That’s the reason I’m patiently waiting for you to speak up.”

“You’re so insightful… Are you a mind reader or something?”

“It’s not that big of a deal. I’m just a little perceptive.”

“Just a little, huh… Well, whatever.”

Koyuki furrowed her brow, clearly not satisfied with the answer. But after a while, she let out a small sigh and bowed her head.

“Thank you so much for yesterday. I really appreciate it.”

“No problem at all.”

Naoya easily accepted her sincere words of thanks without any hesitation.
