Traveling With a Beautiful Girl - Chapter 7: Footbath
When I woke up, I saw several missed calls from my parents.
Thinking it would be best to at least let them know I was safe, I sent them a message on LINE: “I’m on a trip. Please don’t look for me.”
A few minutes later, my phone vibrated again, but I ignored it. There was no point in talking to them right now, as it would only lead to more anger.
I decided to leave the matter to my future self and focus on the present.
“What’s that?”
I left my luggage at the hotel and went outside, where I noticed an unfamiliar facility in front of Atami Station.
“Isn’t that a footbath?”
“Oh, that’s the famous one!”
As they said, it was a hot spring designed for soaking your feet.
The water, which seemed warm and inviting, filled a small trench about the size of five tatami mats.
Wooden boards were placed on both sides, apparently for people to sit on while soaking their feet.
“Wow, it’s called ‘Ieyasu’s Bath.’ It was built to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Tokugawa Ieyasu’s visit… It’s said to be effective for neuralgia, joint pain, poor circulation, and fatigue recovery…”

Studious Nanase was nodding thoughtfully as she read the information board.
Impressive, even though it’s not something she needed to memorize.
“Let’s go in!”
“There’s no brain recovery effect, you know?”
“What, that’s still going on?”
Nanase bent down to take off her sneakers and ankle socks.
Her actions were so enticing that I couldn’t help but be captivated.
Today, Nanase wasn’t in her school uniform but rather in casual clothes.
She wore a clean white T-shirt, skinny jeans, and a brown outer layer suitable for autumn.
She also had a shoulder bag, perhaps for her personal items.
Her fashion emphasized her tall figure and stylish look. It seemed like she should be holding a Starbucks coffee in one hand.
“What is it?”
“No, nothing.”
I pretended nothing was wrong and took off my shoes, dipping my feet into the warm water.
“Wow…”
The gentle warmth enveloping my toes made me let out a small sigh. The slightly hot temperature of the water was pleasantly painful.
The water was only up to my ankles, but I could feel the warmth slowly spreading up my body. Although I was only soaking my feet, my whole body felt warm and comfortable.
“…This is amazing.”
I’m glad I came.
There was something thrilling about enjoying a footbath in Atami, far away from school where classes were taking place.
“Haah…”
I heard a sensual sigh and looked to my right. Nanase was completely relaxed, lost in her thoughts.
Her sharp eyes were closed, and her usually downturned mouth was completely slack.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying it.”
“Huh?”
Nanase’s shoulders jumped, and water splashed everywhere.
“I-I’m not enjoying it that much! A footbath is nothing special!”
“Do you want to get out?”
“…Maybe in another 10 minutes, I might understand the appeal.”
Nanase averted her gaze and blushed as she spoke.
What a cute reaction.
“O-okay, another 10 minutes it is.”
We ended up staying for about 30 minutes.
Nanase seemed to be receiving some sort of energy from the earth, her eyes closed and her body completely still.
Was she okay? Was she even alive?
Just as I thought that…
“It’s okay… Everything will work out… I’ll be fine…”
I heard a voice from my left, and my heart skipped a beat.
