The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - EPILOGUE
EPILOGUE
“Why did you bring me here?”
“I just want to celebrate our first day as a couple.”
“As a… couple?”
“What is that, Miss Annesley? Do you not want to go out with your husband and be with your flower man?”
“Wh, what are you saying? And isn’t calling yourself my husband too far-fetched ….”
“Hmm, it’s actually not. I bet your mother would also say so, hahaha.”
Caspian’s laugh was more than a beautiful melody ringing in Daisy’s ears. But still, she couldn’t understand what he was talking about.
“But why are you calling yourself my husband? We’re not even in a relationship….”
“Ey Miss Annesley, you must have forgotten last night. You gave me a love letter and even placed a kiss on my cheek. What do you think that means?”
“I… I… I did that?”
“Otherwise, why would I take the liberty to go to your dormitory and take you out like this? Though you’re more obedient than I thought you’d be.”
His voice was mixed with laughter.
Instead of getting angry at him, Daisy was more than embarrassed. She wished that there was a hole where she could bury herself for life.
Daisy bit her lower lip in utter embarrassment, forgetting that she was still holding Caspian’s hand. Caspian squeezed her hand and she turned at him.
Daisy tried to wriggle her hand but Caspian held her hand even tighter.
Caspian opened his mouth, a little serious but gentle, “I won’t let you go – no, never. I let you go once but I won’t let that happen once again.”
Caspian gently brushed the stray hair on her face. He had a soft expression on his face but behind his eyes, there was a strong determination to not let her go no matter what happens.
Hearing his words, it sounded just like a confession. Daisy’s heart beat against her chest as if it would explode at any moment. Time seemed to stop. This time, she couldn’t think of anything other than the warmth that was transmitted from his large palms to her palms until her heart.
Her lips were pursed into a tight line. There was nothing she could say. She was overwhelmed by the feeling.
That’s right, just like on her wedding day when an arrow struck her left shoulder. The pain overwhelmed her senses and she quickly lost consciousness. However, there was a pair of warm arms that held her body and a voice filled with worry hugging her during her last moments.
That vivid voice called her name with such emotions. After that, she peacefully died in that person’s arms.
Was it because she was embraced by such a warm pair of arms that she peacefully died? Was it his voice filled with worry that let her feel at ease even at the face of death?
With the sudden surge of the memories of her death, Daisy shivered.
‘Why did I remember them now?’
On normal days, she felt nothing as if it wasn’t her who died. But it was different today. She felt the sense to hug someone, but she didn’t know who that someone was. A sense of longing she had never felt in her almost two decades in this world.
“Are you alright?”
She then heard Caspian’s voice in front of her. Her vision was a bit blurry so she couldn’t see him at first. When her vision returned to normal, Caspian’s face overlapped with the person she last saw before she died in her previous life.
“Li… BaoHe?”
“!!!”
A string of exclamation came out of Caspian’s face. He was obviously surprised that Daisy called him that name.
Daisy squinted her eyes once more and looked at Caspian. It must have been only an illusion earlier, but she felt as if it was real.
“Li BaoHe?”
To confirm her suspicions, her nervous voice called his name once again. This time, Caspian answered even though his heart was in turmoil.
“Yes, I am here, wife.”
“Li… BaoHe?”
Seemingly not believing that fact, Daisy called him once again. Her eyes were starting to water and her hands were trembling.
“I’m here, wife. I’m here, Zhou MeiHua.”
When he called her name, Daisy couldn’t help but cry.
How many times did I imagine this moment? Do you know how many times I wished I could see you faster? Do you know how many nights I spent imprisoned in the memories of that day? Do you know how many questions I wanted to ask you?
But nothing matters at this moment. What was important was that the person she was looking for and waiting for was standing in front of her.
“Is that… is that really you?”
“Yes.”
Caspian’s eyes were also red and he was also on the verge of crying.
Is this the feeling of finally having the person you liked remember those memories? Or simply knowing that you remember each other was enough to evoke such emotions?
“How did you… how did you know?”
“How can I forget you…?”
At this point, two people were already crying in front of the aquarium.
“How can I forget you when it was my father who killed you, your family… he killed everyone….”
Daisy shook her head and wiped her tears, but more tears rolled down her cheeks. She squeezed his hand, but she knew it wasn’t enough.
After reading the book The Secrets of Quiet Noises, she understood everything. It wasn’t his fault, but he chose to die with her. That was the saddest part… and the most heartwarming one. Though their end was like that, she was thankful that he didn’t leave her there.
In her thousand years in the Netherworld, she wished to meet him in order to tell him that he did not do anything wrong. She didn’t expect that the person she had fallen in love with in this life was him – the husband she didn’t see the face.
“I’m sorry… I’m really sorry… Please forgive me for being unable to stop him…. Sorry….”
“Please stop saying sorry… you didn’t do anything wrong. All of it is in the past now.”
Daisy heaved a deep sigh and wiped her tears, attempting to look stronger than him. She helped him wipe his tears as well. After that, she cupped his face and made him look at her.
“Didn’t we meet in the end? Let’s forget everything in that life and start anew, hmm?”
But after she asked that, her tears started to glide down her cheeks again.
‘I never thought I’d fall in love with the husband I never got to see the face of.’
Daisy was still in disbelief, but the truth is clear – she didn’t like him just because he was her husband she married, but the man she had fallen in love with in this life. Nothing matters more than the present.
Caspian smiled and stopped crying. He felt foolish, crying in the midst of the sea of people.
“Don’t I look ugly while crying? You must have disliked me now.”
“Then you must have also disliked me now. I also looked ugly when I cried.”
The two people laughed. They never knew that fate could be this beautiful.
Caspian caressed her face and planted a kiss on her forehead.
“You know, I promised that I would live only for you in this life when you died.”
“Really?”
“I’m glad I did. If not, I’m afraid I would have died in vain.”
“But I would be the same.”
The two people embraced each other.
Having confirmed their feelings and the burdening past that separated them, the present was brighter and happier. From now on, there will only be bright mornings and no more lonely nights.
This is a story of two people: one who died without seeing the other, one who watched the other die. They were thrown in the dark and torturous Netherworld missing each other and looking for each other.
When they were reborn, they had almost missed each other. But the longing between them was stronger than any fire and any storm. It went on for a thousand years and continued for another hundred years.
Their life might have been short in this lifetime, but they spent it beside each other. They made up for the time they lost while looking for each other. They found that inside the arms of the other do they feel the safest place.
Love can be sometimes painful, but it brings the greatest joy in your life. You might miss each other, but you’ll always find one another.
Several years later, under a big tree, an old couple was sitting together. Their heads had turned white, but they were still gentle with each other.
“Do you remember when our son was born? He looked just like you.”
“Of course. His father is the most handsome. See, he even made the silent beauty of the Empire fall in love with him.”
“Hahaha, you and your glib tongue.”
“If not for this, would you have fallen in love with me? Hahaha.”
“I can’t really refute that.”
Caspian hugged his now old wife, Daisy. She was still as beautiful as when he first saw her.
“I love you, wife.”
“I love you more, husband.”
The sun set on the west. It was a beautiful day.
