The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 29
Chapter 29
“How dare you call my wife your girlfriend?”
A cold voice echoed from behind them. The spectators that started to crowd the front of the women’s dormitory gave way as if an important person was to pass through them.
Looking at his neat appearance while holding a paper bag of what seemed like porridge, the other people couldn’t help but speculate that he must have a special relationship with the girl.
Lawrence turned his head sideways and saw Caspian walking through the crowd. His imposing figure stood before him and glared at him.
“Ah, were the two of you in that sort of relationship?”
Lawrence smirked, furthermore trying to irk Caspian. But the person in front of him only calmly smiled and passed him.
“Are you feeling alright? I brought you porridge in case you have a hangover from last night.”
“…”
Daisy was at a loss for words. Who are you? How are you here? Why are you looking at me like that?
Her mouth opened, but there were no words that came out. She was very different from last night’s Daisy, who excitedly planted a kiss on his cheek.
“Daisy, I didn’t know you knew how to play this game. Are you still the Daisy I know?”
Behind them, Lawrence put his hands inside his pocket and asked Daisy, annoyance obvious on his handsome face. It distorted even more at Caspian’s answer.
“You never knew my Daisy, so get lost.”
Caspian was smiling as he looked at Daisy and checked on her, but his voice was evidently cold as the North Pole’s iceberg.
Couldn’t hold it back anymore, Lawrence annoyingly ruffled his hair and said in an angry voice, “Hah! I would have won that bet if it weren’t for you. How can you hinder my plans like that?”
Lawrence continued swearing, much to the surprise of the onlookers. Some of them started to gossip about this surprising revelation of a man chasing another man’s wife and calling her his girlfriend.
[‘Is that really our senior?’]
[‘I couldn’t believe he only used that girl for a mere bet!’]
[‘The husband should beat his ass!’]
[‘At least he’s good-looking. I don’t want to be used as a bet, but it’s alright as long as he’s handsome.’]
[‘Can you have good thoughts? He used one of our juniors just for his own fun!’]
[‘I think the girl here became really angry now.’]
Daisy was suddenly awakened from her reverie by hearing the whispers around them. She saw the people’s consoling gaze directed at her and couldn’t help but bow her head.
It was just like this during that time. People would gossip even when she was not saying anything, and they would whisper when she said anything. People would always talk about you no matter what you do.
But this time would be different. She doesn’t want to be looked at as someone who was used by a man for his own fun – even if that man has the face of someone she used to like.
Daisy raised her head. She saw Caspian looking at her with gentle eyes and softly holding her hand.
‘Since when was he holding my hand like this?’
Instead of pushing him away, she squeezed his hand and smiled at him. Caspian was startled but smiled back.
Then Daisy opened her mouth toward Lawrence, firm and uncompromising.
“I never said I want to be your girlfriend. Please go back and don’t show yourself in front of me again.”
“Hah! You really are serious about getting in a relationship with that guy?”
Lawrence snickered and pointed at Caspian. However, Daisy wasn’t shaken and looked him straight in the eyes.
“Mr. Lothario, it might be fun for you to make a bet of making someone fall in love. However, you shouldn’t play with human feelings for your own. Someday, you’ll realize that you’re wrong and would want to go back, but you’ll have no chance of repentance.”
“Hah! Whatever you say! Many women would want to be with me. You just wait and see! I won’t regret it!”
I never knew you could be this kind of person, Fu Qing.
Daisy had always thought of Fu Qing as someone who was very gentle, warm, and kind towards women. Seeing another side of him today, her image of him crumbled into pieces. She thought that maybe he earned the title’ flower man’ because he was kind to everyone but didn’t want to commit to a relationship. Everything was a game to him. Maybe he was that kind of person.
Caspian snorted when Lawrence walked away. You finally knew your place.
He had always felt bad when compared to that man, but he learned that he wasn’t as good of a person as everyone thought. He was cunning, a playboy who plays with women’s hearts, and ambitious. He would do everything just for his own sake.
This only shows that you haven’t changed one bit. Caspian coldly thought.
‘Thankfully, you weren’t enamored by him anymore, wife.’
Caspian smiled as he realized one vital piece of information – even though Zhou MeiHua liked Fu Qing back then, Daisy doesn’t want to be with Lawrence in the present. That alone proves that fate can be changed as long as you make the right decisions.
Caspian believed that if the reason why Mr. Isaac, or his master Qiu Shao, tried hard to make them meet, his and Daisy’s fate must have been very bleak. Well, he’s thankful for that. If not….
‘I may have to use up all my years in this world and won’t end up meeting her until the end.’
They might have gone into circles many times but never met each other. In a way, you can say that Mr. Isaac did his best to make them meet; he even intentionally let the two of them know of what happened after they died. Though it really made Caspian angry.
When Lawrence went away with a huff and yell, the spectators also dispersed one by one. The thrilling drama that unfolded in front of their eyes had ended briefly. After that, only Caspian and Daisy were left behind.
Daisy looked at Caspian, who had his hands naturally intertwining with hers. When she saw that, she was stupefied for a moment and didn’t know what to say. She only managed to squeeze out a word.
“Hands….”
Her heart inside her chest won’t stop beating. Her face was flushed red like a beet.
Seeing her like that, Caspian couldn’t help but burst out into laughter.
“My wife, you’re adorable.”
“Who is your wife? And why are you calling me wife…?”
Unknowingly calling her’ wife’, Caspian stopped laughing. However, he didn’t answer Daisy’s question and handed her the paper bag containing porridge.
“You must be having a bad headache now. You should eat that first.”
“Huh…? How did you know?”
Caspian successfully evaded her question. Even though he knew it would eventually come to this, he wasn’t yet ready. Moreover, he needs to find the right time to tell her everything so she won’t be overwhelmed.
‘When you’re ready, I will tell you everything – willingly.’
Daisy scrunched her eyebrows but obediently walked upstairs and ate the porridge Caspian gave her. It was very natural that she didn’t think something was strange about it.
As she was eating her porridge, Camille was busy squealing.
“Hey, hey, hey! I didn’t know that your boyfriend was Caspian! Ah, no, he’s not your boyfriend – he’s your husband! Aackkk!”
“Can you please stop screaming? My eardrums will explode if you keep on being like that.”
“Oh please, let me be. My one and only best friend is in a relationship! What’s more, he called you his wife. That only means he’s willing to marry you and pamper you all your life!”
“What does calling me his ‘wife’ relate with that?”
“Because he’s willing to make you his wife and ready to be your shield in every storm you encounter! Isn’t that romantic?”
“Whatever you say.”
“But really, how did you manage to lure Caspian into your trap? I’m really curious.”
At her question, Daisy fell silent.
She remembered bits and pieces of what happened last night, but she wasn’t sure if it was Caspian she confessed to. Besides, he’s acting very strange.
But even though she thought it was strange, she still finished the porridge Caspian gave her and proceeded to change clothes. Caspian told her earlier that he would take her to the aquarium.
“Camille, didn’t you go to the aquarium last time? Where is the best place to go?”
“Why? Are you going with your boyf– no, are you going with your husband?”
“Stop that. Just call him Caspian.”
Camille raised her eyebrows but didn’t pursue the matter any further. She said it would be good to go to the aquarium but not watch the sea lion show, lest they be soaked like they were last time.
Daisy nodded her head and continued putting her hair in a bun. She didn’t even know why she was dolling when she didn’t have any idea what kind of relationship she had with Caspian now.
Shortly after, Daisy went down to meet Caspian, diligently waiting for her. When Caspian saw her, he smiled broadly and very naturally grabbed her hand.
“Let’s go.”
Daisy just looked at him. A smile bloomed on her lips. It was as dazzling as the morning sun.
