The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Caspian stared at the image of her back running away. He chuckled and thought that it was cute.
‘If we hadn’t died back then, would you be as cute as you are now?’
Somehow, he doesn’t want to imagine their life at that time as newlyweds.
As he was the captain of the royal guards, he had many responsibilities, and family came second. He would have to spend more time at work than with his wife and children.
‘So this is better.’
Modern times were easier for him. They weren’t bound by the laws and etiquettes of high society, and they didn’t need to pay attention to what others would say. In other words, they have much more freedom now than before.
‘Are you going to tell me that you want Lawrence?’
Caspian shook his head. It hasn’t been that long since they knew each other in this world, so it’s possible that she may want another man.
“What should I do?”
He felt a sense of competitiveness inside him. He couldn’t let anyone just take away Daisy that easily when he had to wait for more than a thousand years to meet her.
Caspian looked in the direction Daisy took. There was deep emotion in his eyes as he gazed at the road.
…….
It was a miracle that Lawrence wasn’t seen near the trio for the next two days. Even on the day of their competition, Lawrence never showed up.
Of course, Caspian was definitely happy about this. A smile was hanging on his lips until they boarded the bus and went to the competition venue.
Daisy saw this and felt that her face felt hot for a moment. She almost tripped on a stone. Because Caspian was walking beside her, he immediately grabbed her arm and steadied her walking.
Daisy was so embarrassed that she ran to the bus ahead of them. She sat down at the last row in the corner, then buried her head in her palms.
‘Ah, how can I trip when there isn’t anything in front of me?’
Caspian was surprised when Daisy suddenly ran away. He followed after and found a vacant seat in the last row. Gabriel waved at him.
“Bro, here!”
Caspian nodded and sat down on the last row. He hesitated when he saw a girl already sitting in the corner, but Gabriel was urging him. There was also no other seat available, so he had no choice but to sit down.
When he sat down, the girl beside him raised her head. Daisy was surprised to see Caspian sitting beside her.
“!!!”
“Oh, it’s you.”
Compared to Daisy, who looked at him wide-eyed, Caspian’s reaction was relatively calm.
Daisy turned her head away out of embarrassment.
‘Ah, how can I do that later if I am like this?!’
Thinking about what she had to do later, Daisy felt her cheeks hotter than earlier.
‘I can’t be like this!’
Daisy tried hard to calm herself down. She turned her head sideways. Fortunately, he wasn’t looking at her and was busy fixing his bag on his lap. Afterward, he took out a pair of earbuds.
Daisy looked at it. She had never seen it before, or she might not have been interested in it, so she didn’t know what it was. She had only used earphones, so she didn’t realize wireless ones existed, though she had already been in this world for two decades.
Caspian saw her curious eyes. He couldn’t help but think that his wife was adorable.
He handed the other one to Daisy. She stared at it before she took it with her hands. She put it in her ears after.
Caspian held his phone and played a song. It was something he had downloaded just the night before in case he wanted to listen to some songs.
Daisy leaned back and crossed her arms. She was definitely feeling the slow harmony of the music playing in her ear. She slowly felt calmer, and the embarrassment earlier faded without any trace. She closed her eyes and was quickly lulled to sleep by the mellow music.
Caspian looked at her sleeping.
‘She must have been tired last night.’
The bus started its engine not too long after.
While on the road, Daisy’s head inadvertently leaned towards Caspian. He didn’t push her head away. Instead, he gently held it with his left hand and moved it comfortably on his arm.
Right after, Daisy moved her head to find a more comfortable position. When it seemed like she was positioned in comfort, she licked her lips and continued sleeping. While doing all of this, Daisy was unaware that a certain someone was staring at her with a gentle smile in his eyes.
Caspian let her do what she wanted and leaned back so Daisy would be more comfortable.
They shared a harmonious atmosphere together until they arrived at the competition venue.
As soon as Daisy woke up to see that she had slept so soundly on Caspian’s shoulder, she became embarrassed again.
“Oh, I… I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to…!”
“Eyy, you don’t need to say sorry, my dear lady! I bet our young master Caspian was more than willing to do that – just for you!”
Caspian looked away right after Gabriel finished his words. Even so, Daisy was embarrassed for herself.
Even though Caspian was willing, the fact that she casually leaned on him comfortably and slept soundly was embarrassing.
Daisy wanted to say sorry again, but Caspian walked away immediately when he saw she was looking at him again.
Gabriel just shook his head.
‘These two star-crossed lovers! Don’t let fate decide your destiny, for goodness sake!’
Gabriel was becoming increasingly frustrated as he watched the two of them playing tug and pull. He sighed once again as he helped Daisy to get off the bus. Caspian had walked very far already.
…….
After a whole day of competition, it was time to go home. It was 5pm. Everyone was hungry and famished, so their instructor, Mr. Isaac, invited them for a meal.
“Sir, is that a treat?”
“Of course! Come and order what you want! Everything is on me today. Eat on your fill.”
“Yay! Then we won’t be that courteous anymore!”
“I want a lot of meat!”
“Me too! Don’t forget drinks – juice is what I mean!”
“Hahaha! Sir, someone wants to get drunk tonight!”
Everyone was in utter happiness as they continued teasing Mr. Isaac.
“Everyone, we have first-year students here, so no alcohol.”
“Yes~!”
Of course, because they are now with first-year students, their instructor won’t let the senior college students do what they want.
Caspian and Daisy were still awkward with each other because of what happened in the morning. Still, Daisy was the one who was more nervous about facing Caspian now.
‘I heard that alcohol gives people courage. I think I will need that tonight.’
The bus arrived at a relatively big restaurant that sells cheap dishes. Everyone was excited as they got off the bus. Even Gabriel, who usually sticks close to Caspian and Daisy, went along with their seniors.
Actually, he wanted to have a drink to vent all of his frustrations.
Their group sat at the table near a corner. After that, they ordered their food. As decided earlier, they ordered a lot of meat dishes.
At the side, Daisy sat silently and watched the scenes before her. When she saw the drinks being served before their main dish, she immediately gulped them down. It was as if she was extremely dehydrated.
“You should drink water first before downing a glass of juice.”
“…”
A gentle voice sounded in her ear. It was Caspian.
She didn’t notice it earlier, but he was sitting beside her. She looked at him and accepted the glass of water he put in front of him.
‘Thoughtful.’
She couldn’t help but praise him in her heart.
Opposite them, Mr. Isaac was sitting and looking at them with great interest.
‘After all, you two met each other.’
He smiled and continued chatting with the other students.
Not too long after, the food was served. The delicious aroma wafting from the appetizing food was mouthwatering. Before they could dig into their food, Mr. Isaac gave his blessings first.
“Now, even if no one of you wins this competition, I hope today’s experience will remind you of your youthful days. Don’t forget that you all did your best, so let’s not feel down and eat at our fill!”
“Yes~!”
They happily clinked their spoons and started digging into their food.
Daisy first tasted the smoked pork slices in front of her. The savory smell and the flavor were exquisite. It was simply tasty. She took several bites and began to enjoy her meal.
After the meal, they went back to the school compound. There was still some time before the dormitory curfew started, so half of the students went for a walk.
Caspian was walking in the direction of their dormitory when Daisy suddenly pulled him to the outer garden of the school. It was in the back of the gym, so there were no people.
Daisy was a little flushed as she had drunk a little alcohol earlier because she had lost a game. She stood before Caspian and stretched out her hand.
“Caspian Nixon! I like you!”
“…”
