The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 25
Chapter 25
There was indeed something strange about everyone.
Lawrence had never once forgotten to appear before Daisy for the following days. He would sometimes appear with a bouquet of flowers. Sometimes, he would simply sit down at their lectures even though it was not even one percent relevant to his major. He was doing this for two consecutive weeks.
When he sits down at their lectures, Lawrence would shamelessly stares at Daisy. Professors would get mad at him, but it was of no use. It was as if it fell on deaf ears.
Because the trio, Daisy, Caspian, and Gabriel, were preparing for the school’s conference that would take place in two days, they were always in the library. Of course, Lawrence didn’t forget to tag along with them. Today as well, he was sitting behind Daisy and was staring at her while she was busy reviewing for the competition.
“Stop staring at her. You’re distracting her.”
“Why? She’s the most beautiful flower I have ever seen. I bet you also can’t take your eyes off of her.”
Lawrence said with a smile.
Caspian was getting angrier as days passed, and Lawrence was still after Daisy. It just doesn’t sit right with him.
That afternoon in the library, even with Gabriel’s company, Caspian felt as if it was only him and Daisy present at that moment. Anything else was irrelevant.
He kept asking himself for this feeling inside his heart that kept growing. It wasn’t simply because he wanted to fulfill his promise, but it was more profound. Every time he sees Lawrence following behind them, he can’t help but feel bitter from the bottom of his heart.
Even if it was Gabriel, who seemed harmless, he couldn’t help but think that he wanted to hide Daisy in his pocket so no one would look at her anymore. Of course, that was impossible.
Lawrence turned his gaze and looked at Caspian, who was serious while doing some skimming on his book. His eyes were cold, and his lips were pursed into a thin line.
“Hey, are you two dating?”
“What?”
This time, Daisy looked at him with her brows frowning.
In fact, she didn’t mind Lawrence following her around as he could sometimes keep her safe. But it was an entirely different topic when he followed after her and asked her to go out with him.
Daisy was thinking of a good way to refuse him, but she didn’t have any good excuse to give him.
When she told him she was still young and didn’t want to be in a relationship, he told her he was willing to wait. He was more enthusiastic when she told him she didn’t want him to follow after her. After that, she shrugged him off and ignored him. It would leave her with no energy if she kept giving him attention.
On another note, she saw a considerable change in Caspian’s attitude. Before, he didn’t speak more than five to ten words to someone. But now, he was energetic in scolding Lawrence. Though oblivious as she is, she doesn’t know it is because he is starting to like her.
“You two seemed to be in a special relationship since the first time I saw you.”
“What do you mean?”
“He gave you chocolates, right?”
“So?”
Daisy couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows. She once read an internet article that when a man gives a woman chocolate, he is wooing that woman.
‘But Caspian doesn’t seem to be it.’
It was more likely to say that Lawrence was the one trying hard to win her. Not only was he very attentive to her, be it at class, lunch, or their breaks, with her activities – everything. He was simply a romantic.
But it wasn’t enough to erase the fact that the person she liked was no other than Caspian.
“What do you think it means when a man gives a woman a chocolate?”
“Does that matter? The most important thing is that bro Caspian gave her a box of chocolate – a box of chocolate!”
This time, it was Gabriel who spoke. It was unknown when he had started calling Caspian his ‘bro,’ and Caspian doesn’t seem to hate it either. At some point, after they began to go to the library for the journalism club, they inexplicably became close as brothers.
‘Bro Caspian, why are you not saying anything? If you don’t make a move sooner, this man will snatch your Daisy!’
Of course, no one could hear his screams inside him.
Lawrence harrumphed and rolled his eyes at Gabriel. It was then that his phone started to vibrate in his pocket. He fished it out and tapped the answer button.
“I’ll answer this first.”
No one paid him any attention.
When Lawrence went out, Daisy also had to go to the restroom. Only Caspian and Gabriel were left behind.
“Bro, if you keep doing what you’re doing now, you might as well let Daisy go!”
“… What are you talking about?”
Caspian clearly knew what he was talking about but acted like he didn’t know anything.
Gabriel was so frustrated that the pen in his hand broke into two. He really can’t understand this guy. In their previous life, he gave up on living to die with his wife. Now, he was doing nothing but wishing that Daisy would stay by his side.
“If I were you, I would lay out my fishnet and trap Daisy inside so she won’t be caught by other fishermen such as Lawrence Lothario. Or do you want me to take Daisy?”
“You dare?”
There was a smile on Gabriel’s face when Caspian suddenly turned to him with murderous intent in his eyes.
Gabriel was more or less used to it, so he wasn’t that scared anymore. More like, it was making him laugh.
“Bro, the early bird gets the worm.”
“But the second mouse gets the cheese.”
“That’s not the point here! If you keep on dilly-dallying, you won’t get either the worm or the cheese. So please move quickly!”
“…”
Caspian was silent. He knew what Gabriel was talking about, but he was still thinking deeply about how he could tell Daisy everything. He was afraid that the truth would make the relationship between the two of them dwindle.
“I….”
At that moment, when he was about to speak, Daisy returned from the restroom. Caspian immediately closed his mouth, and Gabriel swiftly looked back to the book he was reading.
Daisy looked at them alternately with confusion in her eyes.
“What are the two of you talking about?”
“Uh… nothing, it’s nothing, haha….”
“Then what is it about worms and cheese?”
“Worm and cheese? Haha….”
Gabriel awkwardly laughed and decided to not answer her question.
Daisy was left hanging in the air. She thought it must be something she shouldn’t know as a girl, so she shut her mouth and continued her work.
‘Maybe it was a boy’s talk.’
If Gabriel had heard this, he would have spat out a mouthful of blood.
After roughly two hours, the trio finished their review and went out of the library together. Other club members saw them and reminded them of the competition in two days. The three nodded as they bid goodbye.
“Do you think we can do well in the competition?”
“Don’t say negative things when you’re not there yet.”
“I’m sure you two would do just as well. I am more worried for myself.”
Gabriel pursed his lips into a thin line. He was seriously thinking about the competition, and Daisy just had to reprimand him. He looked up at the sky – it was a bright shade of the orange afternoon glow of the sun.
“It’s nice to eat something delicious later.”
Gabriel sighed to himself, but it was enough for the two people behind him to hear it. He looked at Caspian with meaningful eyes.
The meaning of his words was: Please take out Daisy to eat dinner!
But of course, Caspian ignored him as always. Gabriel was exasperated. He lamented to himself before dragging his feet to walk away. Caspian didn’t even make an effort to stop him.
As Gabriel walked away, Daisy mulled over his words.
‘A meal.’
There will be a competition in two days. She had prepared for it many times.
As she spent time with Caspian, Daisy couldn’t help but grow fonder of him.
‘After the competition, it is likely that we will not be together like this.’
It would be a pity they couldn’t grow into friends after the competition. After all, they were only classmates.
When he gave her chocolates, it warmed her heart, and butterflies were running wild inside her stomach. Maybe that was why she suddenly had the urge to go to the restroom that time. She was also shy but didn’t show it on her face.
‘This time, I would like to take the initiative.’
Though she had never done it before and only had seen it in dramas and fairytales, she would like to confess her feelings.
“Do you have time after the competition? I would like to… have a talk with you.”
“What is it?”
There was a gentleness in Caspian’s eyes as he gazed at Daisy.
“I won’t say it now. Please meet me at the park by the castle walls.”
Before Caspian could say anything, Daisy immediately walked away as if she was being shy.
