The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
“…”
Daisy blinked her eyes a few times, wondering if she had heard it right. She tilted her head, and Caspian was still holding the box of chocolate.
It wasn’t even Valentine’s Day today, so why is Caspian giving it to me? To say that he was giving it to her only because she once told him she liked it seems to be the case. She couldn’t help but think that it was a little bit strange. Besides, two weeks had already passed, so to suddenly gave her chocolates….
‘Still, why would he remember that and give me this?’
Daisy coughed and awkwardly smiled at Caspian.
“Uhm, well… Thank you for this. But why are you giving me this?”
“I already told you.”
“Uh….”
It was so awkward.
Caspian stuffed the box of chocolate in her hand and smiled after. He even looked relieved, as if he was afraid that Daisy would refuse to accept his gift.
Daisy was perplexed as to why Caspian was doing this. She clearly remembered two weeks ago when he suddenly asked her if she liked chocolates. She didn’t think much about it and answered yes. Now that she is in this situation, it is difficult not to give meaning to it.
That day when Camille returned, she didn’t buy the chocolate as per Daisy’s instructions. It didn’t make Daisy sad, but Camille came back very sad. She told Daisy that she wanted to buy that chocolate for her but didn’t for fear that she would be scolded again.
Now, that exact brand and box of chocolate were in Daisy’s hand.
‘I never knew receiving a box of chocolate would make me this happy.’
Her lips unconsciously turned into an arch – a smile on her pretty face.
Caspian was stupefied when Daisy smiled. He also smiled.
‘I’m glad she liked it.’
While the two of them were smiling, Judy behind them was once again dumbfounded.
‘No, what is with these two people? Are they dating?!’
Her entire body shook at that notion. Two good-looking people dating? After she realized it, her eyes widened.
“Are you two dating?!”
Caspian and Daisy instantly turned their heads to her. Of course, their classmates, who heard Judy’s not-so-silent voice, also turned their heads in their direction.
Daisy became flustered when she saw their classmates looking at them. Of course, what Judy said wasn’t true. But what about Caspian’s chocolate?
‘I wish that was the case,’ Caspian suddenly thought, but a smile still hung on his lips.
At that very moment, a loud shout was heard outside the door.
“Hey, hey, hey! How can that be the case? Right, Daisy Annesley?”
He was a tall guy. He towered over the shorter students than him. Daisy estimated that he was at least 178cm tall but wasn’t as tall as Caspian, whose height was 182cm. How did she know?
Camille: wink, wink!
The tall guy approached Daisy, but Caspian suddenly walked in front of her. It was as if he was protecting her and hiding her from the guy who suddenly appeared out of the blue.
Because Caspian was taller than her, though she wasn’t that short at 168cm, Caspian’s broad shoulders and wide back covered her line of sight.
“Oh, aren’t you that guy… that guy whom Mr. Isaac boasted to us second years. What’s your name again…?”
The guy appeared to be thinking, but his face was full of playfulness. The other students decided to watch this incredible spectacle. Only two weeks at school, and the classic love triangle is happening!
Their train of thought isn’t that different from Judy’s. Her mind was already weaving a tear-jerking romance between the three, even though she didn’t know who the other guy was.
‘Ah! Handsome men are always for beautiful women!’
Judy peeked at the other guy. Even though he was shorter by a few centimeters from Caspian, his looks are to be reckoned with. He has the classic slanted eyes, high-bridged nose, and flirty pink lips. His face was a perfect v-shaped – the epitome of a playboy.
‘Ey, whatever. He’s handsome, can forgive!’
Judy giggled, then realized that the two guys were still staring at each other.
“Daisy, do you know him?”
“Huh? I don’t…?”
“She said she doesn’t know you. Please state your business with her.”
Caspian’s cold voice echoed inside the classroom. The other guy smirked at him. He then raised her two hands as if he was surrendering himself.
“Alright, alright. Then let me introduce myself. I am Lawrence Lothario. I am only here to look at the beauty behind you. Won’t you let me?”
“No.”
Caspian’s answer was firm, and he glared at him. But the guy called Lawrence only chuckled and casually asked him a question.
“Are you her boyfriend or what?”
“… She is a friend.”
“Oh, a friend….”
Lawrence dragged the word ‘friend’ as if he was making fun of Caspian.
Caspian continued on glaring at him. He doesn’t seem to want to let Lawrence do what he wants.
In the middle of this, Daisy listened to the two of them talk. She got curious about what this guy Lawrence, who came looking for her, looked like. She slightly tilted her head enough for her to see his face.
Instead of being in awe of his handsome face, she was dumbstruck.
‘How did this… no, why is he….’
Questions kept on piling up on her head like a mountain – it kept on piling up until her head couldn’t take it anymore. She shook her head at her headache and continued looking at him.
In that distant past, he was once called the ‘flower man,’ Fu Qing, of the country. He was famous among women, married or not married, because of his looks as fresh as a newly bloomed flower.
Back then, Daisy was also one of the women who secretly admired him from afar. However, it wasn’t a secret that every woman from the capital liked him. He was very different from the Royal Guards Captain, who had the nickname ‘the ice cold Captain.’
With just one smile from him, every woman would faint (of course, it is an exaggeration as they were desperately asking for his expensive attention) at the sight of it. He was under the ice-cold Captain’s division.
The reason he was famous with women was that he was the one patrolling around the capital most of the time. In simpler terms, he had more’ screen time’ than their Captain.
For that very reason, many would know a lot of things about him: what he likes and dislikes, which restaurant he frequented, which family he belonged to, blah blah blah. Compared to their Captain, only a few knew him as General Li’s eldest son. In many instances, he was often called ‘the ice cold Captain.’
But that wasn’t the point now. The issue now was how did this guy, called Lawrence Lothario, have the same face as the Fu Qing of that distant past? Daisy’s rebirth was mysterious enough; now, even Fu Qing is here.
‘What is happening?’
Thinking about it, Daisy felt her headache. I had never used my mind so hard like this before. Math and science were way more effortless. Of course, she was the only one who thought that way.
Daisy walked out ultimately from Caspian’s back. Caspian was surprised to see her looking straight at Lawrence’s – or, more accurately to say, Fu Qing’s face.
There was no way Caspian wouldn’t know that Daisy once liked this b*st*rd. It wasn’t even a piece of information hard to obtain. All the women wanted Fu Qing, so why wouldn’t the daughter of the Minister of Wars like him as well?
He was afraid that once Daisy – even though he wasn’t yet sure if she was reborn like him – would like Lawrence this time as well.
Daisy only tilted her head and massaged her temples. It was aching from too much reminiscing of the past.
“My, my. Our beautiful Daisy Hannes is having a migraine. Let me take you to the infirmary!”
Lawrence was enthusiastic, but Daisy frowned her forehead.
“Sorry, who are you referring to? Who is Daisy Hannes?”
“Uh…?”
Lawrence realized he had her surname wrong but didn’t correct it and just shrugged his shoulders.
“Ey, don’t think about it too much. You’re still the same Daisy I know.”
“You know me?”
“Of course~!”
Daisy and Caspian looked at him with alert eyes. They have the same thought: How did you know?
Before long, Lawrence’s answer came out of his mouth.
“You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen! How can I forget about you~?”
When she heard his answer, Daisy unconsciously let out a sigh of relief. Caspian only raised his eyebrows and furrowed his eyebrows.
Daisy nodded her head, but she wasn’t in the mood to accept his compliments. She turned her head to Caspian and looked at him.
When he felt her stare, Caspian thought that it was something. His worries only worsened with Daisy’s following words.
“Please excuse me, but I need to use the restroom.”
