To the Person I Love and Hate the Most… - Chapter 20
I Can Never Go Home Again…
Several months has passed since that incident…
The harsh cold weather gradually becomes warmer, and spring arrives.
Since that day…I haven’t received any contact from Natsumi…
Her roommate’s job search shouldn’t take this long, he should’ve gotten a proper job by now…was it all a lie after all?
I begin to think such things…
One day, I receive an email from an unfamiliar address.
It’s from Natsumi.
In the email, she mentioned that she has some free time in the evening and asked if we meet up.
So in the evening, I anxiously go to the place where we decided to meet.
“Long time no see, Ma-kun!”
The moment I hear Natsumi’s voice, I feel really happy.
But when I see her, I’m taken aback.
It’s because Natsumi is wearing heavy makeup and dressed in flashy clothes.
Natsumi looked so pure and innocent when the first time I met her.
But now, it’s as if she has changed into a completely different person.
“I’m working at a cabaret club now…and I managed to be the number 1 girl there! Hahaha!”
Natsumi seems a but tipsy, probably from drinking.
“Hasn’t your roommate’s job search finished yet?”
I asked Natsumi so.
“It’s not completely done yet, but he did get an offer from a small company. I feel happy for him!”
Natsumi said so nonchalantly.
“Then, that means you don’t have to support him anymore, right? Why haven’t you come back to me? Why did you break your promise and start working at a cabaret club?”
I can’t hold back my anger.
Then, Natsumi says the shocking words that I don’t want to hear.
“There are a lot of things happened recently…I’m sick of all of it…so I just decided to go with the flow…besides, you didn’t desperately try to stop me when I left did you, Ma-kun? Even though you’re a man…”
“Hah? Are you really saying that I didn’t try hard enough? Should I have locked you up or something?”
I yelled so, getting angrier.
“……”
Natsumi turns away as if she is sulking.
“I trusted you and respected your decision…am I the one at fault here for trusting you? Is that what you want to say?”
I said so, desperately holding my tears back.
“Alright, alright. I get it. I’ll promise that I’ll make time to see you in the future. We’ll go to a hotel or something.”
Natsumi said so in a slightly annoyed tone.
My words can no longer reach her heart…
We can no longer be together…
That night, after we parted, I thought about our relationship.
Even if I can’t be with Natsumi anymore, I can’t let her destroy her own life…
If I don’t do anything…Natsumi will surely destroy her own future…
With that in mind, I decided to take my last resort.
I don’t care if Natsumi will get mad at me, but I decided to tell her parents everything about our relationship from the beginning.
I want them to save their daughter from this self-destructive behaviour…
So, I decided to write a letter to Natsumi’s parents.
I feel that our relationship is beyond repair, but I want them to save Natsumi from her current self-destructive state…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About a week later, I receive a phone call from Natsumi.
“Ma-kun…why did you tell my parents about it? That is so unfair!”
“Unfair you say…? This is not about us getting back together anymore, it’s about the fact that you are destroying your own life. That’s why I told your parents about everything and asked for their help. I know you might be on bad terms with your parents, but still, I’m sure that they’ll still be willing to accept you when you go back home. I believe that they can help you. That’s why I did it…”
I explained to Natsumi so.
“Don’t just make assumptions on your own, Ma-kun! Just let me be!”
Natsumi sounds really angry.
“I can’t just let you be when you’re destroying your own life.”
I argued.
“I can’t go back home anymore…”
“Eh?”
“I can never go back home again! I can’t!!!”
Saying so, Natsumi starts crying.
“T-That’s…”
I’m at a loss for words.
“Enough, just leave me alone! Don’t ever contact me again!”
With that, Natsumi hangs up the phone.
