Chapter 6 – “I’d Be Happy to Offer Up My Body to You”
As it would be too conspicuous in front of the school gate, we decided to move to another location.
I wanted to just ignore her and go straight to the classroom, but she clearly wouldn’t allow that.
“I can’t believe you’d take me to the back of the school building. I wonder if you’re going to confess your feelings to me.”
I wanted to avoid being seen by people, and the back of the school was the most suitable place to get to quickly from the school gate.
Only a true enthusiast would come to a damp place like this in the morning when the sunlight barely reaches.
As soon as we got to the back of the school, Kotobuki said that, so I could only force a smile and say, “Haha, that can’t be.”
“I knew it. In that case, do you have a psychic ability? How did you predict that I’m going to confess to you now?”
“Could you stop giving spoilers when we haven’t even started talking yet?”
The image I had of Kotobuki Yuzuki was that she was a mature, calm, and intelligent female student, but all of that was steadily crumbling now.
“There’s not much time left until the bell, so please be direct.”
I checked the time on my phone, and there were only about ten minutes left. I didn’t want to be late, so I started talking as soon as we got to the back of the school building.
Kotobuki turned around about three steps away and faced me. Her expression was completely serious as she stared straight into my eyes.
Of course, it’s embarrassing to be stared at by a beautiful woman. I looked away and scratched my head to hide my embarrassment.
She then bowed deeply.
“Eh, what is it?”
“Thank you so much for your help at that time.”
I was confused by her serious behavior and tone of voice, which made me wonder where her excitement from before had gone.
“Thanks to you, my mother was saved. I can’t thank you enough.”
It may be strange to think something like this about the act of bowing, but it’s a very beautiful gesture. I felt as if I had been shown a dance, and suddenly came back to my senses.
“Get up. I’m glad she was saved, and hearing that is enough for me.”
When I said this, she slowly raised her head. In the process, she glanced up at my face and paused.
“I want to do something to thank you. I’m willing to do anything I can.”
“No, there’s no need.”
“That won’t satisfy me. Please, let me do something for you.”
She bent her waist, but she stopped dead in her tracks. I was even more confused by the way she was looking up at me, which isn’t very pleasant.
I realized that there can be moments when an upturned gaze isn’t welcome at all.
“A girl shouldn’t say things like that. A normal guy would ask for money, or if it’s someone as cute as Kotobuki, it wouldn’t be strange if they asked for something lewd.”
“So you’re not a normal guy, Ao-kun?”
“Yeah, I suppose so. And I never agreed with you calling me that.”
As I said that, she moved her body, which had been frozen, and straightened her back.
“So, you’re saying that you’re not a normal guy. Does that mean I can interpret that as you wanting something lewd that an ordinary person wouldn’t even think of and, on top of that, to get a large amount of money?”
“What are you talking about?”
What is she talking about?
I could feel the tension I felt facing a beautiful girl gradually dissipating.
It’s not that I’m adapting to it, but more like my instincts are starting to tell me that I shouldn’t put Kotobuki Yuzuki in the beautiful girl category.
“I hate to say it myself, but I think I have a nice body.”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
When she said that, I turned my eyes to her body. Or rather, my eyes were naturally drawn to it.
Her ripe breasts are reminiscent of a watermelon or melon. And yet her waist is tight and slim. Her thighs, which extend from the skirt that hides her plump bottom, are just the right amount of thickness.
Her body proportions are not much different from those of a gravure model, and in fact, she might seem even better, making her the target of desire of all men.
“If that’s what you want, I’d be happy to offer up my body to you.”
I think that’s truly the ultimate line to make a man’s life happy. It’d be stupid not to jump at the chance when someone says something like that. It’s just impossible.
It’s like saying you don’t want a briefcase full of money when they’re practically offering it to you for free.
“…I think that’s an incredibly appealing proposal for a man. If it had been offered to me under normal circumstances, I would have jumped at it.”
“Would have?”
“If I were to indulge in that proposal here, it would feel like my actions were solely for that purpose.”
“You’re being too serious. This is just a reward for your results, not the fundamental principle of your action.”
“Still…”
I know that, but the thought just keeps crossing my mind.
“Just a simple thank you is enough for me. I don’t need anything more. If you feel like you need to do something to make yourself feel better, then please understand how I feel.”
I wouldn’t hesitate to accept something like a meal as a reward, but if the amount is more than a first-year high school student can earn, I can’t accept it.
What I did wasn’t business, it was purely volunteer work. If there’s a reward, it would go against the spirit.
I’m sure Dad wouldn’t accept any rewards too.
“I understand.”
Kotobuki took in what I said, seeming a bit reluctant, but she still agreed.
I felt relieved for a moment, but she continued with the same flow of conversation.
“Then, separate from that, will you go out with me?”
“I really can’t keep up with you.”
◇
Of course, I refused.
It’s not because I dislike Kotobuki. It’s just that I don’t know her well enough to decide whether I like her or not.
“I don’t mean to brag, but even though I look like this, guys often confess their feelings to me.”
“I don’t know how you see yourself, but I think it’s safe to say that’s how most people see you.”
I’ll end up late for class if I stay here forever, so I decided to head to the classroom since the most important thing I had to say was done.
As I walked up the stairs, Kotobuki tried to make herself more appealing, refusing to give up.
“Then why won’t you go out with me? I’m the type who’s devoted!”
“I wouldn’t know about that. The reason I’m not dating you is that I don’t like you yet.”
The beginning of love is different for everyone. There’s no manual, and there are no rules or regulations.
Some people start dating because they think the other person is cute, while others start dating just because they want to have sex. None of those are wrong.
But somehow, it doesn’t feel right to me.
Starting a relationship before I feel like I want to be with this person doesn’t suit me.
“So, does that mean if you fall for me, you’d go out with me?”
“Well, that’s the natural course of things. But, why are you coming on so aggressively? We didn’t have any connection before.”
We finished climbing the stairs and walked down the hallway toward the classroom. There were no students around, probably because the pre-bell was about to ring.
I glanced over at Kotobuki, who had caught up next to me, as I spoke.
“That’s true. Until a few days ago, you were just a classmate.”
“That’s right. it’s weird if you suddenly say you want to go out with me.”
“But it’s not weird at all. You looked really cool when you saved my mother. Not only that, I was also moved by your honest spirit, not wanting any reward for doing all that. Don’t you think that’s enough reason for me to like you? After all, in shoujo manga, love begins when two people bump into each other at a corner, you know? That’s a bit too sudden, right? So, with these many reasons, it’s still convincing.”
“Yes, I got it already.”
Maybe she’s the strange one after all.
But I could certainly understand her reasons. If I switched places with her, I might see it that way too.
“So that’s why, I hope we can get along well from now on, Ao-kun.”
“…I still haven’t agreed to let you call me that way.”
Just as the conversation settled down, we arrived at the classroom.
Thinking that I could take a breather here for now, I put my hand on the door and opened it.
At that moment, Kotobuki next to me spoke as if she had just remembered something.
“I also told Hikari that you were the person who helped us.”
“Oh, is that so?”
All of a sudden——
“Thank you so much!”
——Someone rushed forward and hugged me tightly. By the time I heard her voice, she was already on me, and without any warning, I fell to the ground.
“H-huh?!”
The girl who was now straddling on top of me wore a pure, innocent smile as she began to speak.
“You’re our hero!”
