Volume 01 Chapter 20: Mauve… Out!!
It’s been a while since we got new arrivals in the dungeon.
I’ve been busy lately, so I’m finally able to start managing the dungeon.
It’s not like we’re already halfway through or that it’s been some impossible game without a tutorial.
Finally, we’ve gathered enough data to prepare for opening the dungeon for business.
I’m standing at the starting line.
To me, this whole dungeon management thing sounded like:
“Open a convenience store in a warzone, and give me a quote!!”
So, I gathered intel. Luckily, I got to know royals and skilled adventurers, and somehow secured the kingdom’s approval to operate.
Whoops, got sidetracked. The new arrivals are the slaves Mauve and the others were tasked to buy.
Mainly—no, entirely—young women. That’s what I ordered.
Harem, hell yeah!! Sure, that’s part of it, but more importantly, I need pawns.
There are reasons, but honestly? Boobs!! Boobs!!
Ahem, gotta stay calm.
Gotta joke around a bit, or I can’t handle the seriousness.
No matter how beautiful, princesses, drill-haired princesses, or some national Saintess? Hard pass. Thinking about the future, I can’t even fantasize anymore.
Anyway, enough about my fantasies. Time for Mauve and the others to be sacrificial lambs.
“So, Mauve and crew went ahead and bought some slaves. Let’s discuss and critique their taste in women.”
“Hey, wait!! You said critique!! That’s a done deal!?”
“Relax, it’s just my petty grudge since I’m stuck inside. Don’t mind it.”
“I mind!!”
“Alright, let’s move on. Mauve, introduce them.”
I tease and cut them off as I please. They’ll complain, but they’ll endure it given my situation.
“Fine. First, the overview. As you see, we bought nine. Sorry, couldn’t cover all races. Some are too expensive or rare.”
“Fair enough. Three per person?”
“Yeah. You said to ‘show our taste,’ so I didn’t pick alone.”
“By the way, no issues with the slave contracts, right?”
“Nah, all good. Though if you’re using [Designated Protection], it’s moot, but technically they’re our slaves.”
“Got it. No girls you wanna keep for yourself?”
“Nah, the three of us are stable. Adding amateurs would throw off the balance.”
“Fair. Let’s start with introductions.”
I stand before the nine slave girls. They’re all trembling.
Guess they haven’t been treated well so far.
“Mauve and the others probably told you something, but… I’m Yuki, your employer.”
A long-eared girl reacts and asks a question.
“…Pardon, but you’re not treating us as slaves? Employer means…”
An elf, huh? Her figure defies the stereotype—curvy and voluptuous.
“Nope, not as slaves. I’ve got plans, and I need your help.”
“…Help? Wouldn’t it be better to treat us as slaves?”
“Heh, no point hiding it. You might face tougher times than being slaves.”
Their faces twist in fear.
“Hey, no need to scare them like that. Poor things.”
“Mauve-san, calm down. That’s Yuki’s way of being considerate. They’ll have to manage and protect this place.”
Curse backs me up.
“Manage this place? What do you mean?”
The elf girl tilts her head.
“Simple. This dungeon, now that the late Elju-sama succeeded in controlling the Dungeon Core, is set to become a village or town. The ownership’s with her sister, Selaria-sama, though.”
“…So we’re brought here as test subjects.”
Pretty sharp girl. With education, she could go far.
“Nah, your safety’s guaranteed. We’re aiming for something else.”
“Something else?”
“Not an experiment. Why do you think you’re here? Simple. To fulfill Elju-sama’s wish… a safe place for those who lost homes and families in the war.”
“Elju-sama…”
“We’re planning to gather and free slaves to create a safe haven. But we need people first. We can’t just put random humans in charge. Elju-sama’s wish is for former slaves to take the lead.”
Elju-sama, my savior. Thanks to her, my existence stays hidden.
The safest thing in this world is not being known. No one targets you that way.
I get to chill as the Dungeon Master.
“But I… no, none of us here have experience building villages or towns…”
She looks at the others, who shake their heads in agreement.
“No worries. That’s why me, Mauve, and the others are here to support. First, we need you to tell us what’s needed to build a village or town and about cultural differences among races. A ton of races will gather here, so we want to sort out issues early. We need your cooperation.”
“…If we don’t produce results, will we be kicked out?”
“Nope. But you’ll hear or see sensitive stuff about operations, so we’ll likely gag you on that.”
“Fair enough. I’ll cooperate with you and Elju-sama’s will. If this place becomes a haven for those struck by tragedy.”
The others nod as she speaks. Went smoother than expected.
“So, that’s the deal. If you’re in, introduce yourselves. It’s inconvenient not knowing what to call you.”
“Oh, yes. My apologies. Then, starting with the three Mauve-sama picked…”
“Mauve… Out!!”
“What’s out!?”
“Picked by Mauve-sama? Can’t let that slide. Perfect teasing material.”
“Tch, teasing won’t move things forward. Let’s get to introductions.”
“Y-Yes? Understood. I’ll start…”
“I’m Eris. As you see, an elf. I can use a bit of magic but have no combat experience. I’m decent at arithmetic. Looking forward to working with you.”
Eris, huh. No point diving deep into her stats now, so just the basics. Level 10. Pretty high? I don’t know the average level for regular folks—heard it’s about 5 for an 18-year-old guy.
She’s got leadership potential. Rational too. Promising for the future.
Her figure: 160 cm, curvy, blonde beauty. Long hair.

“U-Um, I’m Tori!! I’m from the Wolfman Tribe!! I-I can’t use magic, but I’m pretty confident in my physical abilities!! Nice to meet you!!”
Tori-chan, level 21—higher still. A combat race, huh!!
Joking aside, dog ears, huh? Honestly, I’m grateful this world’s beastman tribes aren’t all furry.
White, short hair. A bit wavy—curly, maybe?
“I’m Asrin. Human… I can’t do academics, magic, or sports… Just cooking and housework…”
Asrin-chan’s voice trails off at the end. That self-introduction must be tough.
A quick note: she’s clearly the youngest of the nine. I didn’t tell them to pick a loli.
Maroon hair, short bob, right? Suits her well, I think.
“Thanks for the introductions, all three. Eris, I appreciate you engaging with me from the start. Tori, you’re full of energy—looking forward to working with you. Asrin, no need to feel bad. Cooking and housework are vital for life. Even if you can’t do much now, you can learn.”
“Thank you for explaining so much to a slave like me.”
“Yeah, nice to meet you!!”
“…I’m not a burden?”
Asrin’s still anxious. No choice but to pat her head to calm her. Works best for kids.
Well, the kid next door hated it, but my cousin’s kid loved it!!
“Now, time to judge Mauve.”
“What’s with the judging!!”
“Loli out!! Definitely loli out!!”
Too young!! Seriously!! Maybe she reminded you of your kid, but think! Now I’m stuck looking after her for a while.
Well, training a kid like her could be interesting to see how far she goes, but I won’t force it if she’s against it…
Now, what about the remaining six?
