Volume 01 Chapter 04: Commence the Strategy – We Are the Proud Warriors
It took about seven days for the goblins and slimes to achieve explosive growth. During that time, a few small beasts, large beasts, and what seemed to be a handful of fellow goblins invaded the dungeon, and we successfully annihilated them.
The result of those seven days: 332 DP (Dungeon Points).
Using these, I fixed dungeon deficiencies, improved mobility, added traps where needed, recruited new goblins and slimes, and prepared for the next enemies.
Two days later, a “human” party finally tripped the scouting slime’s detection.
I’m currently gathering the main forces in the strategy meeting room on the third floor for a briefing.
“We’ve confirmed five enemies entering the detection range of our dungeon. I’ll give detailed explanations once they’re inside, but here’s the preliminary info: two frontline warrior types—a swordsman and a spear user; two rear-guard mages, likely support roles; and one thief, probably their scout.”
The goblins and slimes listen to the intel without reacting.
You guys are too reliable.
“The gender breakdown: the two frontline fighters are male, one rear-guard is male, and the remaining two are female. My take? It’s a balanced party. The frontline holds and distracts enemies, the rear-guard attacks from a distance, and the thief uses speed for scouting and overall combat support.”
It’s a standard game-like formation—solid and reliable, which means…
“They’re likely seasoned veterans, so prepare accordingly. G-Team, equip Type-3 gear and deploy three squads for the ambush. Two squads will guard me. S-Team, equip Type-2 gear, deploy two squads to approach from the rear and support G-Team. The remaining three squads will stand by on the enemy’s path as a backup. If the ambush teams fail to hold, you’ll take them out with a surprise attack.”
G-Team is, obviously, the goblin team. S-Team, you guessed it, is the slime team.
“The ambush will take place at the central area of the first floor. Now, the objectives: Primary goal—annihilate the enemy. Secondary goal—secure captives. I’ll give specific instructions for the secondary goal. Keep it in mind, but prioritize the primary goal. The enemy is expected to arrive at 1430. All units, be in position by 1400.”
The secondary goal of capturing prisoners is for gathering outside information, crucial for future dungeon management. But this time, securing captives will likely be tough.
Either way, I can’t make judgments until they enter the dungeon’s appraisal range.
After a while, all units are in position and on standby.
At 1420, the targets enter the dungeon. They’re moving faster than expected—definitely a veteran party.
I start the appraisal.

I checked the men’s stats first… The info’s already been sent to G-Team and S-Team. Average level 40—pretty strong from our perspective. But considering stat growth per level, aren’t my monsters’ stats better?
Or maybe their growth slows later, or the race change caused a big jump? Hard to judge now.
Also, those [Merits/Demerits] like [Former Hero] and [Former Excellent Ruler]—sounds like they’ve got some epic backstory. Let’s check the women before deciding.

Whoa!? This is trouble waiting to happen! No matter how you look at it, she’s royalty from some kingdom. A total flag…

…A maid, huh. I can’t say for sure without talking to them, but it’s clear the two slaves are being mistreated.
Also, how do the [Merits/Demerits] work? How far back do they go?
Relying solely on appraisal feels risky. I should talk to people directly for judgments moving forward.
If someone’s been framed and it’s listed in their [Merits/Demerits], that’s a problem.
Anyway, looks like I can designate the secondary goal.
“Relaying the strategy to all units. The info is as you see. The three men are the main threats. The two women are likely near powerless based on their condition. Thus, designate the two women as the secondary goal—G-Team, one squad will secure them. The rest will treat the men as the primary goal. No mercy—go all out. Shift to the secondary goal only if they survive by chance.
No changes to the strategy: Point Alpha for the first ambush, Point Beta for the second, and Point Theta for the final ambush line on the first floor.”
After relaying this, G-Team and S-Team markers on the MAP begin moving to the first ambush point.
The enemy markers are advancing slowly through the dungeon. Real-time monitoring shows the two women are in rough shape.

Both a heroine flag and a trouble flag are raised, but from my perspective, with no knowledge of the local situation, this royalty and her guardian are a godsend.
It gives me a pretext for protection. It’s worth accepting the troublesome flag to pull them to our side.
And now, the enemies are about to reach Point Alpha…
“Commence the strategy. We are the proud warriors. I expect your utmost effort.”
Let’s see how far we can go against stronger opponents.

and I’m done, I can see wheee this is going. The 2 new girls are both used my those men, dropped.
