Chapter 25: The Virgin Hero’s Reunion

“Ryuuto! Didn’t I tell you to stay put in the hotel?! Thanks to you sneaking out of your room, everything has become a huge mess!”

“You don’t need to get that worked up like that, Nee-chan… OUCH!”

As soon as Ryuto returned to the hotel, Kazuki smacked him over the head with a slipper, knocking him off his chair. He rolled across the floor, bumped the back of his head against the fridge, and let out a loud fart from his rear. In that instant, Kazuki’s face turned red all the way to her earlobes in fury.

“Now look what you’ve done to me, Nee-chan!”

“You’re just mocking me! This brat!”

Still as short-tempered as ever, huh?

Ryuuto thought to himself. 

“Come on now, let’s calm down first.”

“You don’t have to defend him, Yoriaki. You know Ryuuto. If you forgive him once, he will get completely carried away.”

The one who had stepped in between Ryuuto and Kazuki was Yoriaki Satake, a former heavy warrior and a member of the Savior Party who had just arrived at the hotel Ryuuto was staying at. This man, also known as the Gentle Bear, had a huge build. Standing at 220 cm tall and weighing 180 kg, he was a walking lovely giant dressed in a custom-made dark suit. Towering like a wall, he positioned himself between the two, effectively separating them both. Taking advantage of Yoriaki’s massive frame, Ryuuto hid behind him and teased Kazuki. 

“This damn brat… Do I need to smack some sense into you again?”

“Violence is not the answer, Nee-chan!”

“Grr!”

“Hiii~ I’m being attacked by a wild beast!~”

“Hahahaha~”

“Don’t you dare laugh!”

Kazuki snarled at Genma, who was chuckling upon seeing the scene unfolding before him. Completely powerless against his wife, Genma immediately flinched and tried to appease her heart. 

“Ahahaha!!”

As for Ryuuto, he didn’t even bother to stop himself from laughing out loud as he watched the two of them bicker. 

“What’s so funny?”

“Just thinking… Some things really never change, huh?”

“Ryuuto…”

Kazuki  stared at Ryuuto, her eyes looked melancholic, as if she was on the verge of tears. Both Yoriaki and Genma also seemed to get lost in their thoughts, reminiscing about the best. 

“Well, you guys sure got old, though!”

“For now, I’m just gonna smack you again.”

“At least say that before you hit me!”

“Honestly, whose fault do you think it is that we got sidetracked? Now we’re late for dinner.”

“This is all your fault, you know!”

Inside the hotel’s VIP suite, the four members of the Savior Party reunited for a meal after a long time apart. Of the four, three—excluding Ryuuto—were now politicians holding important positions in the ruling party.

So all of them have become politicians, huh?

Ryuuto understood that despite their busy schedules, the three had taken the time to make this opportunity for his sake. And for that, he was nothing but grateful to them. As they caught up on recent events and filled in the gaps of the past twenty years, each sharing a condensed version of their personal history, Ryuuto felt reassured to see that their kindness had not changed.

“So, all of you ended up becoming politicians, huh?”

“Ryuuto…”

Kazuki gave her younger brother a sentimental look, sensing the change in his emotions.

“Doesn’t suit you guys at all, though! Hahaha!”

“Oh, come on.”

“Calm down, Kazuki. You know he’s teasing you on purpose.”

“Ah, right. Nee-chan, what about that girl? You know, the one I saved? Haruka? Is she still in the hospital?”

“Oh, about her—”

But before Kazuki could finish speaking, her secretary, Yurina Tsukikage, who had been standing silently by the door of the suite, approached without making a sound. She whispered something into Kazuki’s ear before quietly returning to her place. As she did, her eyes briefly met Ryuuto’s and she gave him a small, subtle glance. Noticing her secretary’s behavior, Kazuki looked a bit taken aback, but she opted to not say anything about it. 

“Alright. Send her in.”

Upon hearing Kazuki’s words , Yurina gently opened the door. Standing there was none other than Haruka Shimomura—the girl Ryuto had parted ways with in the dungeon. She looked really surprised to see so many people inside the suite room. 

“Ka-Kazuki-san?! Ah! Genma-ojisan and Yoriaki-ojisan too! Ah! Ryuuto-san?! What are you doing here, Ryuuto-san?!”

Haruka was dressed in a navy-blue suit and it was clear to see she wasn’t used to wearing formal clothes. At first glance alone, she looked like a nervous fresh graduate looking for a job. Gliding forward, she quickly closed the distance and took both of Ryuuto’s hands in hers, her cheeks flushing.

“I can’t believe I get to meet you here! Ah, Ryuuto-san, are you okay? You didn’t get hurt, did you? I just got discharged from the hospital a little while ago! Oh, but see? I’m totally fine! Look, all good, all good!”

“Haruka—Haruka-chan? I hate to interrupt while you’re so excited like this, but could you let Oba-san(auntie) explain the situation first?”

“Eh—ehhh?! Ah, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry! I completely forgot where we were! My apologies!”

“Hahaha… Yoriaki, have you ever seen Haruka-chan this excited before?”

At Genma’s words, Yoriaki nodded slowly. His large eyes were filled with warmth. 

“Nee-chan, what’s going on here?”

“Hmm.. To put it simply, Genma and I are Haruka’s foster parents. She lived with us until she entered the national explorer academy. So, in a way, she’s like our daughter. As for your relationship with her, well… I suppose you could say she’s like your little sister.”

“Ryuuto-san is my big brother?”

Haruka’s eyes sparkled as she gazed at Ryuuto.

“Can I call you Ryuuto-oniichan from now on?”

“Yeah, that’s a hard no.”

“Why?!”

“Because it doesn’t fit my character. Simple as that.”

“Wo-“

“Wo?”

“How wonderful! Even the way you turn me down bluntly is so wonderful, Ryuuto-san!”

“Well, thank you.”

“Sorry for interrupting, but can’t you all try to listen to me first? Good grief…”
