The Villainous Noble Tried His Hardest to Break the Original Storyline, and Now the Heroines Are Acting Weird - 8
Chapter 8
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
In the world of Dragonic Fantasy, the Level 1 protagonist had about 50 HP. In contrast, the Level 1 protagonist of Final Quest had around 500 HP. Even from just the base status, there was easily a tenfold difference. Just seeing those numbers made it clear how insane of a thing the Goddess had done.
Moreover, while Final Quest had no level cap or status limits, Dragonic Fantasy had fixed caps for everything. In other words, the very structure of people in this world was fundamentally different. Even if I was considered the lowest of the low in Final Quest, I figured I was probably stronger than the strongest person in Dragonic Fantasy.
Well, it seemed like the goddess had reincarnated me into a mob character with ability value on par with the main characters of Final Quest, so I wasn’t too worried about that part. At the very least, I shouldn’t be powerless.
For now, I stepped outside to check what I could do in my current state. In front of me stretched a vast garden, where the servants bustled about. I made my way to the training grounds located in a corner of the garden.
It wasn’t the area used by the soldiers, but rather the one where I usually trained in swordsmanship with my father. It was well maintained. There were no weeds, just exposed earth.
As a pleasant breeze blew through, helping me calm down a little, I was reminded once again of the harsh reality I faced. Even if my specs were decent… I’d have to take down those unfair bosses without the power of a Hero.
Pull yourself together, me.
『You can use the item box too, huh.』
『Its official name is Inventory. I figured having a function to store items would be useful, right?』
『Well, yeah, that’s true.』
In games, carrying a ton of items was par for the course, and it seemed I could do the same. I let out a small sigh of relief in my heart. Just having this changed a lot. Still, for now, this was about all I could do.
It looked like I wouldn’t be able to do anything else until I started acquiring skills. Well, that couldn’t be helped. I figured I’d go ahead and try acquiring some skills to use magic… But I couldn’t bring up the skill board.
『Oi, Goddess. How the hell am I supposed to acquire skills without a skill board?』
My irritation leaked onto my face.
『I’m sorry… There was a little mix-up…』
『……』
『Bu-But! If you just imagine the type of skill you want, you can still acquire them…!』
Just as I was thinking I might file a complaint in my mind, the Goddess hastily responded.
Seriously… She was still the same clumsy goddess as ever. It seemed she was munching on something. When I focused my mind on the heavens, I saw the Goddess lying under a kotatsu, watching me on a TV screen while snacking.
She was sprawled out like a father relaxing on his day off, but the moment she realized I was watching, she scrambled into a formal seiza, sitting up straight.
Y-you little…! That’s exactly what I used to do when I was working remotely…!
No, this wouldn’t do. I could move freely now. This wasn’t the time to be wasting attention on a bumbling goddess. I might still have plenty of time, but I didn’t want to squander any of it.
I wasn’t here to barely scrape by in desperate battles. I planned on getting strong enough to overwhelm the Demon Lords with sheer power. The fire of determination blazed in my heart, pushing my body into action.
All to save my lovely sister! And to protect her smile.
For now, I recalled the layout of the skill board from the game. So long as you had skill points, any character should have been able to acquire all the skills. At least, that was true for characters the protagonist could recruit.
Since I had similar status as the character from Final Quest, I should be able to get them too. I focused my thoughts on acquiring lightning magic and healing magic.
…Did it work? I had no clue. If it had, I should be able to use Thunder and Heal. Might as well try it out right away.
I headed out into the garden to use magic, but I had no idea how to actually cast it. According to my father, “Magic can’t be used without talent,” so he hadn’t taught me anything, he just drilled me in swordsmanship.
Maybe like in a game, I could cast it just by imagining the spell name? After making sure no one was around, I focused on my MP and tried casting Thunder. The next moment, I felt something leave my body, and a bolt of lightning shot out from my right hand.
With a crackling noise that sliced through the air, it surged straight into the ground, gouging a hole in the earth. It was about the level of lightning magic I’d seen in the game. …Although maybe the power was still a bit weak? It might be a proficiency issue, but at least I could use it.
『A-as expected, it’s a bit overpowered in the world of Dragonic Fantasy…』
『I, for one, am thrilled about that.』
『C-could you maybe… Hold back a little?』
『Nope. I’m going full power.』
『…Y-yeah, I thought so.』
I mean, I couldn’t afford to hold back. Since I couldn’t suppress the Demon Lords with the Hero’s power, I had to defeat them even though they were supposed to be unwinnable boss fights. If I wanted to clear the story before the original plot began, then I needed to be a ridiculously strong character.
Excited to be able to use magic, I started casting Thunder a few more times, but then—knights and my father came rushing from the mansion in a panic. They all looked frantic. Their faces pale and alarmed.
Crap. I got carried away and cast too many spells without thinking.
