The Villainous Noble Tried His Hardest to Break the Original Storyline, and Now the Heroines Are Acting Weird - 7
Chapter 7

I didn’t know for sure how to lift the communication restriction with the Goddess. It didn’t seem like a once a month thing either. There were times I even wondered, Maybe she didn’t pay the bill for her communication service? But apparently, that wasn’t the case.
『Please don’t insult me.』
The Goddess said with a pout, but considering the absurd mistakes she’d made so far, she had no one else to blame but herself to be doubted.
Anyway, my immediate goal was to become stronger. I steeled myself and renewed my resolve in my heart. Before my little sister, the Hero, became targeted by the Demon Lord’s army, I had to clear the story by any means necessary. To protect her, I was prepared to fight in this world.
If I could build the world the original protagonist had achieved—one where humans and demons coexisted—then my little sister wouldn’t be targeted. At the very least, she wouldn’t have to live in the same horrific conditions portrayed in the original storyline. I felt like I could finally see a glimmer of hope.
If things went smoothly, I was sure I could manage just fine. No one could tell what would happen when the course of history got changed, but I didn’t care. My very existence was already an irregularity.
The moment I existed here, the irregularity had already begun, and there was no telling when or where problems might arise. For now, I began roughly recalling the story of the original storyline. As I pieced together the fragments of memory in my mind, I started formulating a plan.
Dragonic Fantasy had a pretty grim worldview. At its core, it was a classic Hero vs. Demon Lord story. However, in that world, everything was ruled by the Demon Lord and the other demons. Humans were nothing more than livestock, kept alive under the control of demons.
Because the Demon Lords and the other demons drew energy from negative emotions, they would occasionally descend from the Demon Realm to the human world and commit all kinds of atrocities. That was why people lived in constant fear, never knowing when they might be attacked.
…For example, they’d tear off the arms of a boy aiming to become a swordsman, or rip the legs off a kid who loved soccer… Scenes like that played in my mind, and I couldn’t shake them away. They were just the worst kind of scum, doing vile things that made me sick to my stomach.
Of course, not all demons were like that. Some viewed humans as equals. In the main story of the game, there were even kindhearted demons. It was thanks to those individuals that the Hero chose the path of coexistence.
Still, the overall tone of the story was dark, and I hated the idea of reincarnating into such a world. Resisting such an unfair fate would be tough. Even as a regular civilian, It probably would’ve been impossible to live a normal, peaceful life even if I were to get reincarnated as a regular civilian.
That said, despite being crushed by the tyranny of the demons, humanity still had hope. That hope was the Hero. It was known that a Hero would be born, so people clung to that hope, waiting for the Hero’s arrival.
Of course, the Demon Lords and the other demons desperately sought to kill the Hero because they wanted to protect their own lives. This resulted in countless deaths. And… My father was one of those victims. He was murdered by the Demon Lord. The demons were truly terrible.
My father was killed by a Demon Lord on the day I turned fifteen. The Demon Lord came to the Fortas estate, confronted my father, and tore off all his limbs—just to plunge his son into despair.
Though my father was devastated, he believed he’d succeeded in passing on his will to his son. But then, in front of his eyes, Rubest-kun threw his arm around the Demon Lord’s shoulders and proudly recounted all the evil deeds he’d committed—like buying slaves.
Seeing that, my father was plunged into the depths of despair and utterly broken. And seeing her son joined the demons caused my mother’s spirit to get torn to pieces. In the end, they became a delicious feast for the Demon Lord.
Rubest’s path of domination under the Demon Lord’s banner didn’t stop there. He even handed over the hiding Heroes to the Demon Lord’s army. It was a brilliant play in their eyes. Cunning schemes, flawlessly executed.
What exactly did the Goddess see to think that this noble had performed admirably in the game? Sure, he had a lot of screen time in the middle of the story, but that was nothing to be proud of. On the contrary, he was hated as a despised enemy by every single player.
If she thought that counted as “performing well in the game,” then clearly, the Goddess and I were not on the same page. I could only be astounded by her incompetence.
To top it all off, Rubest, after being thoroughly used by the Demon Lord’s army, was nearly killed by the Heroes and fled to the Demon Lord. But he was killed without a second thought. Then, his body was turned into a puppet zombie that still retained its consciousness. He stood in the Heroes’ way, but honestly, he wasn’t even that strong.
That was the end of Rubest-kun’s story. After that, the Hero awakened their true power, allied with friendly demons—or defeated them—and eventually fought the Great Demon Lord, leading the world to peace.
That was my role in the original story. And it also meant that living in this world would be incredibly difficult for me.
…So many characters would die along the way, and I didn’t want my little sister to go through any of that. Which meant I had to clear everything before the original story even began. For now, what I needed to do starting today was train my abilities.
…There was no helping it, now that things had turned out like this…. I had no choice but to face forward with renewed determination. There was no status screen, but as far as the world of Final Quest was concerned, I was currently at level 1.
Even so, I should already be quite capable of fighting.
