The Villainous Noble Tried His Hardest to Break the Original Storyline, and Now the Heroines Are Acting Weird - 25
Chapter 25
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
My father was still frozen in shock. His mouth opened and closed without saying a word. I called out to him.
“…I did use up a fair amount of MP, but… I believe my healing magic is just as powerful as the Hero’s.”
In truth, I hadn’t used that much MP at all, but I wiped my forehead and made a show of having put in a great effort. If I made it look too easy to use this kind of magic, I might end up scaring people myself next time.
“……”
Sasha removed her eyepatch and turned her gaze toward me. That eye of hers seemed to be completely healed, and her beautiful pupils locked onto me. Then, tears began to fall from those eyes, trickling down her cheeks as she covered her mouth with her hand.
“…I never imagined I’d be able to see with both eyes again like this…”
“……”
As Sasha began to cry, the rest of us waited quietly for her to calm down.
“I understand that we need a Hero to defeat the Demon Lord. But I also don’t think the Hero is the only one who can defeat him.”
If my father still saw me as just someone who was “a little strong,” he probably would have tried to stop me. However, after witnessing the kind of miracle that should’ve been impossible in this world, he didn’t argue with my words.
“…Yeah, you might be right.”
He agreed. He nodded in acknowledgment of what I had said. Even so, I could still sense some hesitation from him. Maybe not because he doubted my strength, but simply because he was my father.
“I might not have the strength to defeat the Demon Lord just yet, but I will become stronger. …So please, will you allow me to go on a journey?”
A journey. Staying in the mansion had its limitations, and I wanted to expand my area of activity while I still could. That said, I still planned to return before Zoldra came to the human world to target my father.
“A journey, huh?”
“Yes. I want to help people like Sasha, whose ability to fight has been taken from them, and strengthen the forces on the human side.”
Hearing my words, my father’s eyes widened. With my magic, I should be able to heal victims of the demons like Sasha. There were characters in the original story who had already died by this point, or others who appeared but couldn’t fight at their full strength. Some of them were in this country, too.
Even if I were to defeat the Demon Lord, the demon race might still attack the humans. Without the Demon Lord’s protection, they wouldn’t be much of a threat, but still, if I were to leave this country to travel, we’d need others capable of defending it.
I wasn’t going to stay in this country forever. After defeating the Demon Lord of Wrath, I’d move on to another country and continue fighting. Until then, I had to prepare people who could protect this country… Who could protect this world.
More than anything, I now realized that this could be the most efficient way for me to gain experience—as I’d understood after healing Sasha. I planned to confirm the details with the Goddess later.
It seemed my father had understood my intentions, but he was still hesitating. His expression shifted through various emotions, but in the end, he nodded.
“…Alright. Just… Please, don’t do anything reckless.”
Though he was still uncertain, my father gave a nod. This was a step forward. What I needed to do wouldn’t change. The only difference was that I could now act openly, instead of sneaking around alone like I had done before.
As I was thinking about that, Sasha walked over to me and bowed her head deeply.
“…Rubest-sama. Please, allow me to accompany you on your journey.”
“…What do you mean?”
Was she trying to thank me for healing her arm? That wasn’t necessary. I’d already gained a ton of experience points from it, and I was satisfied with that.
“I’ve lived solely for the purpose of defeating the Demon Lord. If you’re going on a journey to defeat him… Then I want to lend you my strength.”
So that’s it.
Sasha must have wanted to accompany me in order to take her revenge.
“More than anything… You saved me and now… I want to fight with the intent of devoting everything I have to you.”
As I looked at Sasha, who had bowed her head deeply, I thought it over for a moment. This proposal… It wasn’t bad at all. I had knowledge from the game, but I lacked familiarity with many of the common-sense aspects of this world.
If Sasha, someone who could help bridge that gap, traveled with me as an ally, it would’ve helped me greatly.
“Father, is that alright with you?”
“Yeah, it’s fine. A journey, huh. Things will feel lonely around the mansion without Rubest here.”
“…But I’ll be back before my fifteenth birthday.”
To defeat the Demon Lord. No, more importantly… To change the day our family fell apart…
And most importantly, it would also be the first step in saving the Hero. Though my father still looked troubled, in the end, he gave me a firm nod.
“…I understand. Alright. Do your best, Rubest.”
And with that, our conversation came to a close.
