The Villainous Noble Tried His Hardest to Break the Original Storyline, and Now the Heroines Are Acting Weird - 10
Chapter 10

The Demon Lords were pretty strong too. There was no doubt that if I challenged them in my current state, I’d stand no chance against them.
The reason I chose lightning magic was because in Dragonic Fantasy, there wasn’t actually a distinct category called lightning magic. There were only six elements: fire, water, wind, earth, light, and dark. Even spells that looked like lightning effects were classified under fire, wind, or light.
So, while lightning magic wouldn’t be able to strike at an enemy’s weakness, it also wouldn’t be subject to elemental resistance. Any attribute that could deal stable damage was fine by me—so I went with lightning magic. Once my attribute value went up, targeting weaknesses wouldn’t matter all that much.
Ice magic was also one of the candidates, but to be honest—lightning was just cooler.
Well, ice is cool too… What a tough decision.
Either way, if I just kept leveling up, I’d eventually be able to learn all magic types. But since clearing the game was my main objective this time, I planned to focus first on improving my lightning and healing magic.
Why healing magic? Because I didn’t want to die. There was no magic or item in this world capable of fully restoring someone with HP as high as mine.
That meant I had to heal my own wounds. In Final Quest, healing magic could pretty much heal anything. Even if your leg or arm got blown off, healing magic could fix it easily. So, if I mastered that, I wouldn’t have to worry about getting gravely injured on the battlefield.
“If… If that’s the case, maybe we should start practicing magic right away… Edic, would you consider becoming Rubest’s personal tutor?”
My father addressed the mage called Edic with that proposal. Still in a daze, Edic quickly shook his head.
“I… I’m afraid that would be far too much for me. I can only use intermediate-level magic at best, and I’d be in no position to teach… Not at this level. With magic of this caliber, I believe he would need guidance from the Royal Capital Magic Academy.”
“The Royal Capital, huh… But for that, we’d need the Demon Lord’s permission…”
…Our town, of course, was under the Demon Lord’s control. All humans were raised as livestock for the Demon Lords and the demonkin, so any significant movements or activities required approval.
In particular, the Fortas family had been entrusted with managing this town by direct order of the Demon Lord. So if the son of that family were to attend school, it would definitely require an application or some kind of approval process.
And… Most likely, even if permission were granted, I’d be placed under surveillance by the Demon Lord’s army. On the surface, this family obeyed the demon, but we were actually secretly working as part of the anti-Demon Lord faction. So, they’d probably want to avoid drawing attention to my existence or my abilities.
…More importantly, anyone seen as a threat to the Demon Lord’s army might get eliminated before they could grow. While the others were discussing whether I should go to school, I wondered how I should speak up.
Personally, I didn’t want to be taught magic theory or techniques native to this world. There might be something useful in there, sure, but at the core, I was fundamentally different. Besides, I already had all the in-game knowledge available.
I didn’t want to be sent to some academy where my movements would be restricted, so I quickly cut in.
“Father. I’d prefer to study magic on my own.”
“…On your own?”
“I kind of have a sense of what to do. It’s like… I can hear the voice of a god or something. In the end, I basically just need to fight monsters and get stronger, right?”
『Fufufuh! Leave it to me! I’ll teach you anything I can, as long as it’s within what I know!』
No thanks. You can’t even give me most of the walkthrough info for this world.
She’d been kind to me so far, but apparently there was some kind of divine NDA she needed to abide by, so she couldn’t tell me anything critical. Although… Because she was such a mess, she’d occasionally let something important slip.
If I bombarded her with questions, she’d hit her mental capacity limit and that was when I could sneak in the ones I really wanted answered.
“…I see. That makes sense. With the level of magic Rubest just showed, self-study might be more effective.”
After some thought, Father seemed to arrive at that decision, probably because his top priority was not letting the Demon Lord find out about me. The goddess looked a little sad, maybe because of how coldly I’d brushed her off.
I should make it up to her later. I just needed to give her a bit of praise to cheer her up later. Basically, she needed to be handled with the carrot and stick method. She tended to become pretty obedient like that.
That part of her was kind of cute. She made some critical mistakes, but if you could chalk them up to her being a little clumsy and still forgive her, she might not be so bad.
I couldn’t, though.
“For now, I’ll have you accompany me on a monster combat training session later. Until then, feel free to practice magic anywhere on the estate, alright?”
Maybe because he was pleased that I had a talent for magic, Father smiled as he patted my head.
“Yes, understood.”
For now, it looked like I’d be able to practice lightning magic without any problems.
