The time when I forcibly slept with my friend's sister! - Chapter 67- Meeting~2!
Yui was somehow brought back to consciousness by her father and was instructed to rest in her room. However, she was determined to stay and accompany her Senpai until the meeting’s end.
Even Ichinose had arrived a little while ago, but Yui explicitly told him, ‘You can’t be here…it would be too embarrassing,’ leaving the boy with no other option but to retreat.
As for Riku, he appeared concerned about Yui’s well-being, but he didn’t insist on her leaving.
Thus, the meeting continued.
“Hikari Riku, marriage, you said…do you understand the implications of those words? Or perhaps you’re a delusional hot-blooded youth who considers short-term relationships as a promise for a lifetime.” Her words were laced with mockery as the lady questioned with her left brow raised.
He knew his statement might be taken with a grain of salt, but he wasn’t there to argue with the older woman; he was there to make her believe in the vision he had seen for himself and Yui—a future together.
“I don’t have anything to prove my point, so more than commitment, I can’t offer anything.” He spoke sincerely, allowing her to judge.
Kaori, in response, remained silent for a moment, and this time it was her husband who asked, “Riku-kun…despite knowing that, as an above-average male in this world, you would receive numerous marriage proposals, yet you chose Yui. Can you tell me why?”
In a world with a highly imbalanced male-to-female ratio, even being a little good-looking was enough for a male to find a partner, and sometimes more than one. Considering Riku’s looks and background, it was expected that he would receive various proposals once he turned eighteen.
Although the statement was a fact, hearing it from Yui’s dad startled both Riku and Kaori.
…as for Yui, a look of betrayal flashed across her eyes as she tearfully stared at her father.
However, the man remained firm in his stance, wanting to understand Riku’s take on this.
In response, the young man took a few seconds to gather his thoughts before responding in a calm voice, “Raeji-san is putting it like this: I chose Yui among different options. But, in reality, I believe there could be no one for me other than Yui. In my eyes, I never even considered anyone as my partner until now, other than Yui. It’s a fact that our relationship transpired through a lot, but in a corner of my mind, I have always liked Yui.”
The last part of his response made Kaori flinch.
“You!” Suddenly, the bespectacled woman slammed her hand on the table and stood up with a bright red face. With agitation fueling her voice, she accused, “You had your eyes on my Yui all this time?!”
“Kaori…calm down a little,” Raeji tried to calm his wife down, and Yui also looked equally distressed at the reaction.
However, if someone met the lady’s stern gaze without any particular reaction, it was the same person to whom Kaori’s anger was directed.
“Yes, it’s true. I somehow have liked Yui for a long…long time that even I didn’t realize until recently.”
From the looks of it, Raeji wanted Riku to not say anything that could elevate his wife’s anger, but Riku didn’t pay heed to the warning and continued.
“You can call me a scumbag for falling for my best friend’s sister, but given how kind and adorable Yui is, there was no way for me to simply treat her only as my friend’s sister.”
Three people and, again, three different reactions.
Raeji seemed half impressed and half frustrated that Riku was going out of line to prove his point. Kaori seemed even more agitated than before. And Yui…then she was barely holding herself from fainting again.
(A/N:- Really, girl? Shouldn’t you help your Senpai?)
Kaori remained silent, her gaze showing no intention of assuaging her glare.
“Based on what you just said, I can stop this meeting right here and forbid your contact with Yui. And if you think you can meet her sneakily, then what if I take Yui abroad? What will you do then?” Her voice didn’t hold the previous vigor, but it was clear that Kaori was displeased at the moment.
Riku was, for the first time, lost for words as the atmosphere between them adopted another degree of seriousness.
Amidst the silence, it was the fourth person in the room who spoke up, “…why are you making this difficult, Mom? If Senpai has loved for a long time…what is there to be so much trouble about? Or would you have preferred a short-term relationship where one-moment confession and the other moment, break up? Were you hoping for your daughter to be in that kind of relationship, Mom?”
This might have been the first time Yui spoke so much in front of her mother with such vivid emotion of anger enveloping her voice.
No, it wasn’t anger. Yui was thoroughly frustrated.
For a moment, even Kaori was taken aback as she plopped back down on her seat with her eyes stretched wide.
For Riku…Yui was fighting against her mother.
Sensing the heat in the room, Raeji suggested, “You two go first. And Riku…” Hearing his name, Riku turned his gaze to the man, “Never make Yui cry.”
Riku knew those words weren’t a suggestion but a warning which made the boy gulp in slight fret before he nodded and left with Yui.
Once Riku and Yui were out of sight, Raeji took hold of his wife’s hand before asking, “You good?”
Raeji knew his wife’s temper, and the fact that Yui retaliated against her like that, for the first time, must have shaken Kaori.
However, in place of a frown, what made Raeji surprised was a soft smile adorning his wife’s face.
While gazing at her hand, which was being held by her husband, she uttered in a calm voice, “I am fine…well, I feel more than fine now.”
