The Story Where I, the Strongest Mercenary, Was Reincarnated as a Bullied Introverted High School Student ~ When I Was Freely Enjoying My School Life, for Some Reason the Girls Around Me Started Glancing at Me~ - Chapter 19: Would you like to sleep with me?
“Jinta~ Can I come in? Or would I be bothering you?”
While I was thinking about tomorrow’s schedule, I heard Ami’s voice from outside my room. I made brief eye contact with Char, who was closing her laptop on the bed, before responding.
“Yeah, it’s fine.”
“T-then excuse me~”
Ami opened the door and entered my room. She had apparently just gotten out of the bath after Char. She was wearing cute blue pajamas, and her black short hair was completely dried. Ami asked with a grin.
“What were you two doing~?”
“Uh, um…!”
“Game talk, obviously. ‘Battle Royale’ has a lot of depth.”
This was also one of the reasons I had made Char my gaming friend. Even if anyone heard evidence of my mercenary background or the content of my conversations with Char, I could just say “we were talking about games”.
“Ah~ I see. You’re gaming buddies. If I can become friends with such a cute girl, maybe I should play too.”
“Ami’s clumsy, so it’s impossible.”
“Jinta’s the same way. Besides, games aren’t about skill but whether they’re fun or not.”
After making a surprisingly accurate point, Ami started rubbing her cheek against Char’s, saying “Kyaa~ Char-chan looks cute in pajamas too! An angel!”
Since Char had grown up in war with adults, she probably had never gotten close to girls her own age. Not knowing what to do, her cheeks turned bright red as she let Ami do as she pleased.
Don’t get all lovey-dovey on my bed.
“…It might be the first time I’ve entered Jinta’s room in ages.”
With Char sitting on her lap like a stuffed animal, Ami murmured to me.
“There’s nothing here, right?”
“…True. Even though you’re always working part-time, it’s strange that you don’t have anything~”
Fushimi Jinta had been continuously saving money for Ami’s school fees without spending it on himself. In the end, that money was stolen by Dojima and became the trigger for his suicide. Apparently he had the hope of someday hearing Ami say “Thank you, big brother” again as his reason for living. Hmm, this guy might have been beyond help.
“Where is Char-chan sleeping tonight? We don’t have extra futons.”
“Ah, wh-what should we do?”
“If I sleep on the floor, you can use the bed.”
“There’s no way I’d let you sleep on the floor.”
Ami sighed with an exasperated expression. Don’t be ridiculous, it was the best sleeping place where you could avoid rain and wind.
“I-I don’t mind the bed then if it’s with Jinta.”
“Rejected. It’d be cramped, so I’d rather sleep spaciously on the floor.”
I firmly refused, absolutely not wanting to sleep next to Char. Just sitting next to her had made my heart pound like crazy. If I slept in the same futon with her, Jinta’s body wouldn’t be able to handle it. It would probably explode. Ami backed me up too.
“That’s right! Even though Jinta is a harmless, pathetic, air-like existence who makes no difference whether he’s there or not, a completely insignificant being, sleeping in the same bed is still absolutely not okay!”
“Did you need to insult me just now?”
“I-I see…”
Char lowered her eyebrows looking a bit disappointed. It couldn’t be helped since we’d been mercenaries together for so long, but Char’s sense of distance with me was way too broken. Normally people would dislike it.
“So~ that’s~ why~ sleep with me! It’s okay, I won’t do anything! Really! I-I might touch you a little, but that’s just skinship! That’s what Japan is like!”
Ami’s mouth went slack and her breathing became heavy. Was Char’s cuteness really at a level that drove even the same sex crazy? And don’t drag Japan into your perverted behavior.
“I’m happy to sleep with Ami-san! I-it’s a bit embarrassing though…”
Char rejoiced innocently, completely unable to sense the approaching danger. As expected, since there were no such dangers on the battlefield, Char’s mercenary instincts apparently didn’t work in this situation.
(Char… please make it to morning safely.)
While saluting in my heart, I saw the two of them off as they left the room.
