Chapter 07: They got my age, but there’s nothing to worry about it, probably
It was on the way back from school, as usual, walking together with Yorihito.
“Hey, I can’t stand them, those girls.”
“They turned down another guy today, you know? And it was Higashi-kun.”
“Seriously? He’s so handsome and nice.”
“…They’re acting so arrogant, those Minase and Aizawa.”
I could easily understand what they were talking about, without having to delve into the details.
Regardless of who was confessed to, as the class president had mentioned before, these two, Minase and Aizawa, were being viewed with suspicion by their peers of the same gender over such a petty matter.
I had never seen any of the girls in our class behave that way towards them, but apparently they were being talked about like this by girls from other classes.
“They’re just jealous, that’s all.”
“Right. They would know better if they were in our class. They don’t let any guys near them…”
“Isn’t that the kind of relationship you’d like, though? You’re into yuri, right, Sakuya-kun?”
“Shut up.”
Well, I certainly nodded to that!
However, as he just said, whether it was because they were too close, or because they were mostly together, the girls in our class didn’t seem to care much about their relationships with guys.
“Even boys refrained from inviting them to hang out, let alone confessing, because they were always together. People in other classes don’t really pay attention to the details because they don’t often see them together.”
“That’s true. But still, when boys come to call them, they both look so disgusted, don’t they? So I think they’re really annoying, from the bottom of my heart.”
Confession is probably the best way to convey your feelings to the other person who you like or are interested in.
Whether it’s from a boy to a girl, or from a girl to a boy, it’s a courageous act that requires bravery, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing… but for those who don’t welcome it, it’s probably the most annoying thing imaginable.
(I know that they are actually dating, so to speak. It would probably become well-known if I said it outright, but the current situation is that they haven’t explicitly stated it in order to make their student life together more comfortable… It’s frustrating, though.)
If this were a world of manga, anime, or novels… no, even then, would it be something easily accepted by those around me? From my perspective, I would wave my hands and be happy about it, but still.
“I haven’t heard much about this kind of thing before.”
“Yeah?”
When I listened closely to what Yorihito was saying, he brought up this topic.
“Sakuya definitely likes yuri, but aren’t those two not your type?”
“Ah…”
“On one hand, there’s a black-haired, long-haired beauty, and on the other hand, there’s a flashy, brown-haired beauty… Not to mention, their figures are outstanding, and they’re the type of girls you like. After all, your manga shelf is filled with heroines like that, isn’t it?”
“…”
Certainly, if I didn’t consider their relationship and my preferences, would they be my type?
Well, I’m not considering confessing or anything, but if asked if I wanted to have a close relationship with such beautiful girls, I would say yes.
“That’s right. Admiring yuri is my identity, but it doesn’t mean I’m not interested in girls in a romantic sense.”
“I understand. Well, I wonder who those two will choose.”
They’ve probably already chosen.
While Yorihito and I were chatting, we returned to the classroom, and the class representative approached us as if she had been waiting.
“You took a long time in the bathroom, didn’t you? Did you do the big one?”
“Girls shouldn’t say things like that.”
Even though she seems like a serious girl who walks around in formal attire, she says things like that without hesitation… Well, she probably has humor, so both boys and girls probably like her.
“Hey, Class Rep.”
“What?”
“What we talked about earlier seems to be true after all.”
“What do you mean?”
We told her what we overheard on the way back from the bathroom.
“I see. I don’t have anything to say about it publicly, but I often hear things like that when I’m walking in the hallway. Minase-san and Aizawa-san probably heard it too, but they don’t seem to mind.”
The class rep looked at Minase and Aizawa.
I don’t know what they’re talking about, but the two of them were chatting with a smile and occasionally talking to girls nearby.
“Our class seemed to accept them like that… I wonder why it’s different just because it’s a different class. To be honest, even if it’s a different class, they’ll remain that kind of person, you know?”
“’Isn’t it frustrating to figure that out? Jealousy is like that.”
“Sort of.”
As someone who wasn’t even a party to this, there was nothing I could say.
However, I had started to talk to them as Tsukki, and as someone who genuinely blessed their relationship, there were times when I wanted to help in some way.
“Speaking of which, both of you…”
“Hm?”
“What is it?”
“Actually, a friend of mine suggested that we gather some people and go to karaoke or something. What are you guys going to do?”
“I’m fine with it, how about you, Yorihito?”
Yorihito nodded in agreement with the suggestion of karaoke.
While I didn’t necessarily want to refuse, today, like any other day, I had my part-time job as Tsukki.
“Sorry, I have a part-time job, so I’ll pass.”
“Oh, is that so? By the way, what kind of job is it? Tell me already!”
“No way, that’s impossible, it’s embarrassing.”
I was able to deceive the inquiries of the class rep who tried to somehow get me to reveal it.
Time passed, and after school, I greeted Yorihito and the committee chairman before quickly heading to the department store.
“Yo.”
“Oh, Sakuya’s here.”
“Hi, Saku-chan.”
The old man and the old lady were looking at a piece of paper.
It was an advertisement that had finally been completed, and Minase and Aizawa, who had cooperated with the shooting, were in the picture.
Both of them were facing the camera with wonderful smiles, and Aizawa’s smile as she was fed cake by Minase was even more powerful.
“Are these two models or something?”
“Not at all. They’re just regular students. Well, it’s certainly true that they’re surprisingly beautiful, though.”
Both of them were so beautiful that they could be mistaken for models.
Old man and the old lady also wanted to thank the two who had cooperated this time, so they decided to accompany me, Tsukki, outside.
However, Old man had an emergency, so only Old lady and I headed outside.
“But I don’t know if they’re coming or not?”
“If they’re not here, we’ll try again next time… Oh, aren’t those two over there?”
“…Ah, there they are.”
As usual, the kids came running over to me, but we asked them to step aside as we had some business to attend to.
“Hey, you two, can we talk for a bit?”
“Sure, what’s up?”
“What about that grandma over there?”
The two of them looked concerned as the old lady bowed her head.
“You must be Minase-san and Aizawa-san, right? I wanted to thank you both for your help with the advertisement. Thank you so much.”
“Oh, that? It was no trouble at all. We just wanted to help Tsukki out.”
“Yeah, we just wanted to be of help to Tsukki!”
“Thank you both so much…”
Their kindness almost moved me to tears. I pretended to cry by putting my hands over my eyes while still in the bear suit, and Aizawa noticed and ran over to pat my head and comfort me.
“You guys are really close, huh? It’s nice to see Saku-chan has friends his age.”
“Saku-chan?”
By the way, I haven’t told them anything about myself yet, including my name and age.
But for some reason, they seem to think of me as older, so if they found out we were the same age, it might be a problem…
“Hey, grandma, I’m Tsukki.”
“Oh, I see. I’m sorry about that.”
The old lady understood and went back to work, and for some reason, the two of them started helping me with my job because they had nothing to do.
They just handed out balloons to the kids, but they seemed to be having fun playing with them.
“How much can I ask about the person inside Tsukki?”
“Do you really need to ask?”
“Well, I’m getting curious. What do you think, Yuka?”
“I’m curious too.”
“…”
There wasn’t much that I felt like telling them, so I decided to share something light.
“You’re both in your second year of high school, right?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah.”
I already knew that.
I signaled with my thumbs up to let them know.
“I’m also a second-year. We’re the same age.”
“Huh?”
“Really!?”
Was it really that surprising?
But their shocked expressions were a little funny, so I quietly laughed under the costume.
