Episode 44: Do You Prefer Smaller Ones?
“Fuu~un? Now I see…?”
Sei-san’s eyes narrowed suspiciously.
The doubtful gaze she fixed on me made it incredibly uncomfortable.
It’s not like I particularly not like soft, chubby, squishy-squishy body types or anything…
If someone asked me what kind of body type I preferred, I’d honestly be at a loss. I’ve never really thought about being in a relationship with a girl, so truthfully, I don’t even know my own preferences per se.
That’s probably why I can’t flat-out deny that I dislike or am indifferent to those kinds of squishy-squishy figures—which may become a little troublesome. Preferences and tastes are important in situations like this… Not being able to stand my ground might be one of my bad traits, or so I think.
Well, for now I’ll just avoid Sei-san’s gaze.
Pretending not to notice anything in particular, I shifted my attention toward Hime.
“Yohei-kun, do you like soft, squishy-squishy girls?”
“I didn’t say anything like that, though.”
“Alright, we’ll leave it at that.”
Hime nodded as if she understood everything—though I was pretty sure she was misunderstanding entirely.
Still, maybe sensing my discomfort surrounding it, she wasn’t trying to press the matter further.
“Thank you for the sweets today, Yohei-kun. Thanks to you, I was able to experience a lot of happy moments.”
I was grateful for Hime’s consideration in changing the subject.
For time being, I seized the opportunity given by her words, to escape Sei-san’s prying gaze.
“Don’t mention it. By the way, Hime, which one did you like better?”
The Chocolate Pie Bites or the chocolate pie—both were delicious by it’s own right, no doubt. But I wanted to know Hime’s preference.
“…Umu”
I actually wanted to ask Sei-san about her liking, but since she still seemed like she had something to say on the previous matter, I decided to save her for later.
“The one I liked the most… It’s hard to choose. I love both flavors.”
“Yeah, I get that. But if you had to pick, which one would you say you liked more? It’ll help me choose what to bring next time.”
“…Yohei-kun, you’re as though, always so kind and thoughtful. In that case… If I had to choose, I’d say the Chocolate Pie Bites tastes better.”
After some serious contemplation, Hime finally gave her answer.
“It’s not about taste actually, but more about size… The chocolate pie might be a little too big for me, or so I think.”
“I see. So it’s important to note how easy it is to eat as well.”
I totally agreed with Hime’s opinion.
If I compared the two, I’d probably come to the same conclusion. Both Chocolate Pie Bites and Chocolate Pie had their own unique texture and flavor, making it difficult to declare one better than the other.
That’s probably why ease of eating becomes a significant factor.
“Um… What about you, Yohei-kun? Which one do you prefer?”
“I like the chocolate pie bites more as well.”
Their small mouth sized, which made them perfect for snacking. The chocolate pie was delicious as a proper treat, but for study or gaming breaks, the smaller bites were more convenient. Plus, they didn’t leave crumbs or chocolate smudges, which gave them an edge in my book.
And even though I had a perfect logical reason to back that…
“So basically… You prefer them small, right~”
Sei-san was taking it all in a more devilish-teasing point of view.
Now now, that wording is not at all fair.
“…Ehehe♪ Yohei-kun and I like the same thing. This is, what a perfect match we both are even in mind—how wonderful!”
Meanwhile, Hime beamed, genuinely happy to share the same opinion as me.
As I thought, Hime is so pure and adorable.
I clung to that innocent smile as a lifeline—trying to ignore Sei-san’s all knowing smirk and line of sight.
And such, another lunch break passed———.
