Episode 4: Honest and Sweet
…Hoshimiya-san is surprisingly easy to talk to.
Honestly, I’d thought she’d be difficult to approach or that she’d respond coldly if I tried talking to her.
I’m pretty sure that’s not just my impression.
Our classmates… no, maybe everyone in the school feels a certain respect toward Hoshimiya-san. That’s why it feels almost inappropriate to casually start a conversation with her.
She’s still young but so composed and has a unique presence, making it hard for anyone to approach.
But when I actually talked to her… Hoshimiya-san wasn’t cold or distant. In fact, she was quite approachable.
She was polite and unjaded. Simply put… she’s an honest and good kid.
“Oh, by the way… I ended up eating all of your snacks because they were so delicious. I’m sorry.”
See? She was not showing any arrogance nor condescension—just interacting with me normally and politely.
Her behavior’s not exactly “childish.” She’s way mature in a good way for her age, which makes her easy to talk to.
“No worries, I actually didn’t have much of an appetite… so I am actually glad that you enjoyed them all in my place. If it’d be me alone, it would have probably left uneaten until tomorrow.”
“No appetite? Does that mean, you are unwell?”
“Not really anything like that. Actually, I just stayed up all night yesterday… because of which I’ve been feeling tired all day~.”
“I see. So that’s why you were still sleeping even it was after school time. I noticed you were dozing off during the entire class, so I got a bit curious.”
“…So I got caught eh.”
“Yes. Your slightly uncomfortable sleeping face was pretty amusing. But dozing off in class isn’t good, you know?”
Also, apparently it’s not like she doesn’t care or pay attention to the people around her as well.
Well, it maybe because I sat right next to her, but it seemed she was keeping an eye on me too.
Although she does have the side being a little clueless about the world, But as we started to talk, I found out that Hoshimiya-san was surprisingly easy to relate to.
Maybe that was why I felt completely at ease, without any trace of nervousness. Due to this, I could even ask her about things I’d been keeping bottled up within me.
“By the way, why were you staying after school, Hoshimiya-san? Were you absorbed in a book or something?”
“Nope, that’s not it. I was waiting for my Onee-chan.”
Her Onee-chan, huh.
When it comes to Hoshimiya Hime’s older sister, that would be Hoshimiya Sei. The Hoshimiya siblings are quite famous; every student at school knows about them.
The little sister is a prodigy who’s skipped grades, so she stands out even without trying… but on the other hand, her elder sister, well technically she’s a regular second-year student on paper.
However, she’s also incredibly beautiful and stands out in that way. All in all, together, they’re known as the beautiful sisters of the Hoshimiya family.
And so, we have two Hoshimiyas studying in the same grade at school. Even though they are not in the same class, but they are often seen together.
So that’s how it is, she was waiting for her Elder sister.
“Oneechan has student council duties… I was just reading to pass the time.”
“I see. I vehemently thought maybe the book was just too interesting.”
“I wonder about that, it’s a scholarly book written by my research colleague, and since they gave it to me, I thought I should read it… although I wouldn’t say it’s content is gripping or something to get fascinated about.”
“…It’s written in English though, to think you can read it? That’s so impressive.”
“Well, I tend to remember things after seeing or hearing them once, so I might be good at picking up languages.”
“That’s… kind of cool. I think there are many protagonists in manga and all, with that kind of supernatural ability.”
“C-Cool is it? Really… Ehehe, it feels so nice to be praised. And since Yohei-kun is so good at complimenting, I cannot help my grin while talking with you.”
She’s so honest.
She takes my words unconditionally and straightforward to heart and is genuinely happy about it.
Of course, I wasn’t flattering her with those praises with some hidden meanings or agendas at that. So, seeing her genuinely smile and laugh at that, made me kind of happy too.
