- Chapter 52- Went out with Sakura~
It was around nine when Ryuuji along with others got done with their engaging work at restaurant. No one was tired since the experience working as helpers was really enjoyable for them.
Ryuuji and Kazuya along with Aya were responsible for taking orders and delivering meals, and Yukino was being helped by Mika in the cooking department with the limited knowledge she had.
She got to learn some dishes after she saw Kazuya’s aunt so fluently preparing so many things at once without an ounce of haste even a single moment, despite the place mostly crowded all the time during the evening period.
It was subtle but Aya was able to tell something was wrong Mika’s mood since the girl seemed to anxious and sad about something but Aya wasn’t able to have a peaceful chat with her friend.
Thankfully, she got to know the reason for Mika’s troubles soon.
“So you are going for reunion eh? Well, I and Kazu-kun won’t be coming since there is some work left and going there in so many numbers would be tad bit awkward. Anyway, you guys enjoy.”
Ryuuji glanced at his friend who was standing beside Aya. From the looks of it, Ryuuji thought it would be good to let Aya and Kazuya to spend some alone time together.
“If you say so…should we go, Mika?”
Mika understood the reason behind Ryuuji’s behavior as she nodded and soon walked away with Ryuuji, leaving the two behind.
Aya waved off the two with a cheerful smile but soon something made her scalp itchy in nervousness.
“Say Kazu-kun…”
“Hmm?”
Kazuya hummed in response as the reply came after a brief pause in a solemn tone.
“Why do I feel this is not going to end well…”
Unbeknownst to Aya’s distressful premonition, Ryuuji and Mika walked on the shore as they advanced to the place where he got the location.
It seems they have been staying in a beach house as well since the location wasn’t far away. Since during this time around most of the people like to visit beaches, there were quite a few people still could be seen around.
After walking for ten minutes they finally reached a big wooden house where some people could be seen chatting and having fun on the extended balcony of the house.
Ryuuji was having double thoughts about whether he should be taking Mika in there since some of them had beer bottles in hand but as soon his eyes landed on a familiar face Ryuuji knew it would be rude for his return.
“Hey Ryuuji, Mika-san. How have you been?”
It was Naomi who approached the two and unlike the previous time, she just bowed slightly rather than clinging to Ryuuji, much to Mika’s relief.
“Oh! It’s Ryuuji!”
“Where? Ohhh yea…”
Soon more people gathered as Mika realized how popular Ryuuji must have been to be known by so many classmates. Well, he is good at sports so she more or less could imagine how his middle school life would have gone.
“Let’s go, Mika-san?”
The other four dragged Ryuuji inside before Mika heard Naomi ask in a gentle tone. Mika saw Ryuuji glancing back at her in apology but she just smiled and nodded in assurance. Knowing his personality he must be feeling guilty to leave her alone but it was fine.
“Yeah, sure.”
Smiling Mika started walking with Naomi who had a downcast look for some reason. Mika felt Naomi glancing at her before she sighed and spoke in a defeated tone.
“Mika-san, about last time…I am sorry for creating such misunderstanding.”
In normal circumstances Mika would have ignored Naomi’s apology but as soon she recalled the way Ryuuji explained things to her that day, her bitterness faded away.
“It’s okay. I also over reacted a little.”
Naomi was surprised to see such smile from Mika who last time showed only wariness and agitation to her. That day Naomi became sure that this girl was deeply influenced by Ryuuji and the doubt about being Mika in love with Ryuuji more or less cleared out.
While casually chatting Naomi and Mika made way upstairs and stood on the balcony while chatting about school and stuff. Mika glanced inside the cabin but there were so many people that she was not able to catch glimpse of Ryuuji at all.
Some boys tried to approach Mika but Naomi bluntly shooed them off and Mika was thankful for her support.
“..so how long are you guys going to stay?”
Mika with her back resting on the railing and gaze fixated inside the house, replied in a dazed tone.
“Ummm…until tomorrow evening…”
Naomi glanced at the girl and found her slightly anxious about something. She didn’t have to ask why Mika was restless as she turned on her feet and spoke before walking away.
“Wait here, Mika-san. I will bring Ryuuji out for you,”
Mika was startled being found out by Naomi but she indeed was growing nervous for some reason when she didn’t spot Ryuuji inside. Thanks to Naomi who read her thoughts and went inside to enquire about him.
But soon Mika’s frown deepened as she saw Naomi being responded to with a shrug or shook of the head from whoever she asked.
Soon Naomi returned to Mika with a serious expression as she told what Mika was already expecting.
“He isn’t in the Ah! Ren.”
“Hmm?”
Mika turned toward the direction where Naomi headed where stood a blond boy with confusion written over his face. The boy named Ren glanced at Mika once before he heard Naomi’s hurried words.
“Have you seen, Ryuuji? Ryuuji Takuya?”
“Oh Ryuuji~ God damn, he can’t even hold himself even they met after so long and took Sakura with him. You shou-“
“Where are they?”
The blondie shivered hearing such a cold tone from the raven-haired beauty on whom he was intending to hit afterward. But hearing such a tone he let go of his chances and raised his hands toward the backside of the beachouse.
“T-They went that way…”
Without hearing another word or minding what Naomi was trying to say, Mika walked away. She was hoping that Ryuuji and Sakura only went to have a chat apart from the crowd. She was hoping that Ryuuji was only with Sakura because she was his best friend in the past. She hoped her anxiety proves to be needless. She…just hopes…Ryuuji doesn’t betray her.
But she forgot, that not everything goes as one wants them to…
