- The person who used to hate me, suddenly turned into a yandere!
- Chapter 3- The truth and guilt!
Today school went a little longer than usual from my perspective.
Every period was taking a lot of time today for some reason, and the most sluggish was the lunch break.
That half an hour seemed like I was spending a whole day in that duration. I had my friends and acquaintance all around me, but they seemed slightly distant..?
I don’t know, maybe I was little exaggerating things, but due to the absence of a single person, I was getting uneasy all day.
I kept on convincing myself that Ryuuji was genuinely unwell, and that’s why he didn’t come today, but I knew there was more to it.
Somehow I understood that I was the reason for his absence today, and I was feeling guilty all day long.
I tried to ignore such thoughts and get Ryuuji out of my mind, but he has been involved so much with me these months that it was nearly impossible not to remember him.
The people around me were of no help either. They were so fond of Ryuuji and used to see him following me; I was getting reminded of Ryuuji all day long.
“I am back home.”
With a heavy sigh after such a weary day, I entered my sweet home.
Again I was reminded of him since whenever I returned, it wasn’t me who called out for mom but him.
‘Kaaaaa-san, your son has returned… ‘
His triumph announcement was always amusing, but I never let him know that. Maybe I was a little too conservative around him?
“Hey, mom.”
I dropped my bag on the dining chair as I sat beside it.
Upon hearing me, mom turned after switching the knob as she brought tea for both of us.
It was a habit of our family to sip on hot tea after a long day to release our fatigue and get a long hot bath.
‘I wonder if he had a tea today. ‘
Subconsciously I was getting my attention diverted to him even though I didn’t want to.
“Thanks, mom. And…Ryuuji didn’t come today, so….”
I handed her the bento, which was still packed since the person it was prepared for, never appeared.
“I know he didn’t go school today. He came to meet in the afternoon.”
My brows raised in an instant as I asked reflexively.
“What did he say?”
“Well, nothing much. He just came to return the casserole I given him last week and requested not to bother bringing him food anymore.”
My heart sank in an instant.
Ryuuji came but not to meet me or have dinner with us; rather, break the relationship between the two families without even minding to meet me.
I mean, we weren’t anything other than friends, but still, it was rude from his end to get up and leave just like that.
“Mika, I want to tell you something. Something which would make you realize what kind of blunder you did last night.”
Mom’s serious voice brought me back to my senses as she sat opposite me.
I nodded before grabbing the cup but before I could sip on it, mom told me something which made my entire body freeze.
“Ryuuji is an orphan.”
**Swish**
Like a cold gust passed by my soul, I felt my body going numb.
My finger was burning from the cup, but for several seconds, I wasn’t able to feel it. Or to say, I lost the sense of comprehensibility for quite a while as I registered her words thoroughly yet failed to accept them.
“Y-You are k-kidding, right? Please tell me it’s just a joke. How awful of you, mom, to make jokes like that…”
Even though I tried to convince myself that it was nothing to believe in, my mother’s expression didn’t change.
“No, Mika. I am not joking. Ryuuji Takuya has been an orphan since the age of 12. It’s your fault for not ever paying attention to him. The time he spent with you, the way he cared for you, the love which he carried for you. Mika, I doubt you returned even a percent of it.”
My heart was getting heavier, passing each blink—my breath, finding it difficult to pass through with my back covered in sweat.
Mom wasn’t lying, that I could discern and why Ryuuji made that face last night also seemed to make a whole lot of sense now.
**GASP**
Maybe I held my breath for too long as a strong gasp left my lips as I struggled to think properly anymore.
“Mika! Are you alright?!”
Mom hurriedly got up before taking my cup away and patting my back as I felt my vision slightly darkening.
Mom was about to go to the kitchen probably to bring water for me, but I wanted to ask something more important.
Holding her hand, I spoke in between my heavy breaths.
“Mom *huff* help me with Ryuuji…please…”
