The Otherworld Was Way Too Brutal – After I Healed the Mutilated Girl, She Turned Into a Completely Obsessed Yandere Guard Dog - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Next day.
I got woken up again by that loud banging on the door.
Patient.
“Jin! Another injured person!”
“Okay, got it. Be right there.”
I threw my stuff together quickly and headed out.
Standing there was the usual guy—Guy.
Guy used to be an assistant at a healing clinic.
But the healer there died a few years back, apparently.
Said he was going out to gather herbs, never came back—came back as a corpse, I mean.
Guy was lost and down after that, then he met me.
And now he’s sticking around, helping me pretend to be a proper healer.
“What’s the deal with today’s one?”
“Left arm’s bent in a way it shouldn’t be…”
I walked toward the healing clinic while Guy filled me in.
Fracture, huh.
If that’s it, maybe my level 2 skill could fix it.
No clue exactly how bad a break I could handle yet.
But there was hope.
When I got there, a woman with her arm twisted in a weird direction was waiting, and a little girl was clinging to her, crying her eyes out.
“Mommy! Mommy!”
Looked like the girl’s mom.
No dad around.
Seemed like there was some kinda story there.
“Ugh… Am I… gonna make it…?”
The woman said it in this kinda hopeless voice.
She probably didn’t even think she could get fixed.
That’s how she sounded.
“I dunno for sure, but I’ll do everything I can.”
I told her that.
Then I stepped closer.
Her right arm was twisted all wrong and starting to turn purple.
If they left it like that much longer, she’d definitely lose use of everything past the elbow.
I held my hand over her right arm.
Crack crack crack—super loud grinding noises filled the air.
“Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!”
A scream ripped out of the woman’s mouth.
Her whole body jerked and twitched from the pain.
“Mommy! Mommy!”
The little girl kept yelling desperately.
But I didn’t stop the healing magic.
If I quit now, the bone would heal all crooked and messed up.
Then it’d really be impossible to fix later.
She just had to tough it out.
“Agh… ughhhhhhhhhh!!”
The woman clenched her teeth hard, fighting the pain.
Just a little more… just a bit longer…
Hang in there a little longer and it’d be completely fixed.
And then I finished the treatment.
Her arm went back to totally normal.
“Amazing… I can move my arm… I’d already given up…”
The woman said it in a daze.
The little girl kept blinking fast like she couldn’t believe it.
“Mommy, is it fixed?”
“Yeah. It’s fixed.”
I crouched down, patted the girl’s head, and said that.
“Really?”
“Really really.”
“—Thank you, big brother!”
When I nodded, the girl broke into this huge smile and thanked me.
…Worth it.
Getting thanked like that made me feel that way.
Not that I only helped if I got thanks or anything.
But when someone said it like that, it really hit me—yeah, helping was worth it.
That’s why I kept playing healer in this brutal otherworld.
’Cause I wanted to be useful to somebody.
That’s all it was.
So for that, I had to level up more.
I thought about that while watching the mom and daughter hug it out.
“I’m… actually from one of the Guardian Houses…”
The woman started kinda awkwardly.
“Guardian House…”
“Yeah. You probably already know, but we’re the ones… supposed to be protecting inside these walls.”
Of course I knew.
There were five families called Guardian Houses inside the walls.
They held all the weapons tech, magic tech, had strong soldiers, wiped out magic beasts outside.
…That was the official story anyway.
Truth was, they hoarded the tech and magic, built up power just to keep themselves safe.
They barely ever went outside the walls.
That’s what Guardian House people were.
The ones actually going out and fighting magic beasts were mercenaries.
They lived right next to death; hundreds of people dying every year, but kept they fighting.
My look toward the woman changed a bit.
But there had to be some kinda reason.
Couldn’t talk without hearing it.
“So why’d someone from a Guardian House end up outside the walls?”
At my question, the woman looked down all sad.
“Even if I say I’m from one of the Guardian Houses… I was really just one of the concubines.”
“……Ah, gotcha.”
“They threw me away. Then they accused me of meeting some guy with zero proof. Made it so I can’t have kids anymore.”
“Meeting a guy…”
“Just baseless rumors some jealous concubines spread. But the master… that man believed it.”
Harsh stuff.
Made unable to have kids.
Just hearing that made my stomach twist.
“That guy’s a total coward. Always paranoid that someone’s gonna kill him.”
“……So that’s why.”
“Yeah. He got all paranoid thinking me meeting a guy meant I was plotting rebellion or something.”
It happens a lot.
People who climb up by doing dirty stuff stop trusting anybody.
Her old master was probably that kinda person.
Well, he was from a Guardian House.
Not that surprising.
“……So after hearing all that, what do you want from me?”
But that was the real question.
They told me the story—so what did these two want me to do?
…No, I already knew.
What they wanted.
“Please.”
The woman bowed her head.
“Hide us.”
Yeah, I figured that was coming.
