The Otherworld Was Way Too Brutal – After I Healed the Mutilated Girl, She Turned Into a Completely Obsessed Yandere Guard Dog - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
I pulled up my status screen to check again.

・Healing Magic <Repair Evolve>
Lv1. Stops bleeding.
Lv2. *********
――――――――
Yup, there really was a level 2.
What the level 2 ability actually did was still hidden.
But yeah… it’d be better to level it up, right…
I stole a quick glance at the girl curled up asleep on the bed.
Missing limbs.
I really wanted to fix that somehow.
But at least right now, there was no way I could.
Even if the level went up, there was no guarantee it’d let me heal her.
Still, if there was even a tiny chance, it’d have to be from leveling up and unlocking some new effect.
If that let her get back the parts she lost, then she could actually live a normal life.
But the biggest problem was—
“I’ve got no clue how to level it up.”
Yeah.
I didn’t know how to raise this skill’s level.
Was I supposed to beat enemies?
Or just keep stopping people’s bleeding?
No idea what actually made the level go up.
That was the real issue.
If it was by killing stuff, then there’d be serious risk involved.
Magic beasts were strong.
Like, ridiculously strong.
If I went out alone to fight one, I’d probably get insta-killed.
But if leveling came from just keep doing stop-bleeding over and over, then I could just keep at it.
Except I’d already done that for hundreds of people.
Was it really supposed to take this much effort just to go from level 1 to 2?
Kinda suspicious.
By normal standards, I’d already healed way more than enough people to level up by now.
So that meant… I probably had to kill a magic beast after all.
Could I even fight?
…Scary.
I didn’t wanna die yet.
And I really hated pain.
Right then—
The girl started stirring, like she was waking up.
“Mmm…”
Her big eyes fluttered open.
She tried to sit up—
Crash!
She lost her balance and almost tumbled right off the bed.
“Whoa…! Hey, careful…!”
I barely caught her body in time.
She was so light.
That was close.
If she’d fallen and gotten hurt, I’d never forgive myself.
“You okay?”
“……Thanks.”
She answered my question with a quiet thank-you.
Her face looked kinda guilty.
“Nah, it’s fine as long as you’re okay.”
I said that and gently laid her back down on the bed.
…Yeah, I had to go take the risk and hunt a magic beast.
If the level didn’t go up, she’d stay like this forever.
If there was even the smallest chance I could heal her more, then I should go kill one.
“Hey.”
“……What?”
“What’s your name?”
She thought for a second at my question.
Then she shook her head.
“You don’t have one?”
“……I don’t wanna say it.”
“How come?”
“I don’t like my name.”
Oh… okay.
Sounded like there was some heavy backstory there.
Maybe her parents weren’t dead, but they abandoned her or something?
And she hated the name they gave her.
That could be it, I figured.
“Still, not having anything to call you is kinda inconvenient.”
“……Give me one.”
“Huh?”
“A name. Give me one.”
Me?
Uh… I’d never named a person before…
Should I go with something fantasy-sounding since it’s another world?
Or maybe use a Japanese-style name from my old life on purpose?
After thinking it over for a bit, I decided on this one.
“Tsugumi. Starting today, your name’s Tsugumi.”
“Tsugumi……”
“……Don’t like it?”
I asked, feeling a little nervous.
Then the girl—Tsugumi—practically shouted,
“No way!”
“R-really…”
“I like this name. It has to be this one…”
“Alright then. From today on, you’re Tsugumi. …Nice to meet ya, Tsugumi.”
“Yeah, nice to meet you… um…”
“I’m Jin. Just Jin.”
When I said that, Tsugumi gave a tiny shy smile, like she was a little embarrassed, and repeated it slowly, like she was savoring it.
“Jin, Jin… Nice to meet you, Jin.”
For some reason, it felt like I suddenly had family.
