The Otherworld Was Way Too Brutal – After I Healed the Mutilated Girl, She Turned Into a Completely Obsessed Yandere Guard Dog - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
The next morning.
I woke up to this heavy weight pressing down on my body and some dull clanging metal sound.
“…Nn.”
When I opened my eyes, Tsugumi’s face was right there in front of me.
She had her head resting on my chest.
She was sleeping with this totally peaceful,安心した look on her face.
The one arm she had left was gripping my shirt really tight.
Then I looked up a little further—
“You’re awake.”
In the corner of the room.
My eyes met Cattleya’s. She was standing there perfectly straight, at full attention.
She already had her armor on, helmet tucked under her arm.
She was completely ready for battle.
Morning sunlight was coming in through the window.
It lit up her silver armor and her flawless, porcelain-white skin.
“…You’re up early, Cattleya.”
“A knight’s morning starts early. While you were sleeping I already finished maintaining my sword and doing my mental focus.”
“Mental focus… the sun literally just came up, y’know.”
“On the battlefield the enemy can show up before sunrise. Always being prepared is a knight’s duty.”
She said it completely straight-faced.
This woman really is a hardcore warrior through and through.
When I shifted a bit, Tsugumi on my chest let out a small sound and woke up.
Her sleepy, hazy eyes focused on me.
Then they moved to Cattleya.
The sleepiness vanished from her eyes instantly—sharp, wary alertness took its place.
“…She’s here.”
“Good morning, girl. Another fine morning.”
“…It’s not fine.”
Tsugumi made this super obvious grumpy face and buried her head back into my chest.
Looks like the hostility she feels toward Cattleya hasn’t gone down at all even after sleeping on it.
I gave a wry smile, patted Tsugumi’s back, and somehow managed to sit up from the bed.
Breakfast time.
The three of us sat around the simple bread and soup I made.
Cattleya ate what was served to her very politely.
At an absolutely terrifying speed.
“Thank you for the meal.”
“Did you actually taste it?”
“Taste comes second. What matters is taking in energy quickly.”
Cattleya said that while she neatly cleared away the dishes.
Meanwhile Tsugumi didn’t even try to pick up her spoon—she just kept staring straight at me.
“Jin.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
I paused my own food, picked up the spoon, and fed Tsugumi her soup.
She flicked a quick glance toward Cattleya, then drank from my hand in this really showy way.
“…It’s yummy.”
“Good, glad you like it.”
Is Tsugumi doing this to flex on Cattleya or something?
It kinda looks like she’s trying to say “Jin belongs to me.”
Cattleya just watched our little scene with those unreadable eyes, quietly observing.
The fact that she didn’t seem even slightly annoyed actually made it kinda surreal.
“Alright, break time’s over. Let’s go, Jin.”
Cattleya stood up.
I hurriedly stuffed the rest of my bread in my mouth and got up too.
“Tsugumi, I’m heading out.”
“…Okay.”
Tsugumi’s eyebrows drooped sadly.
But unlike yesterday, she didn’t try to stop me.
She just kept glaring hard at Cattleya as we left.
First we headed to Ray’s place.
The special training with Ray was still going on.
Plus I wanted to introduce Cattleya to him.
We reached the usual open area.
Ray was already swinging his wooden sword.
“Yo, Jin. You’re pretty late to—”
Ray turned toward me and immediately lost his words.
His eyes were glued to Cattleya standing right next to me.
“…W-why… is the Knight Captain of the Guardian House… here…?”
“Been a while, mercenary.”
“Cattleya-sama…!?”
Ray hurriedly started to drop to one knee.
In this town, the Guardian House and its knights hold absolute status.
They’re not the kind of people ordinary citizens or mercenaries can casually talk to.
“Stop. I’m not on official duty right now. And here, I’m just one more instructor.”
“Instructor…?”
“That’s right. Starting today, I’m joining as Jin’s instructor too.”
At Cattleya’s words, Ray looked at me with his mouth hanging open in shock.
“Jin… what the hell did you do? Don’t tell me you committed some crime or—”
“No, no. Just a bit of a connection, that’s all.”
I decided to keep the details—like becoming Genzou’s personal doctor—under wraps.
I didn’t want to worry Ray unnecessarily.
Plus, stuff involving the inner workings of the Guardian House probably shouldn’t be spread around.
“I see… Well, knowing you, it wouldn’t be surprising if you pulled off something insane.”
Ray nodded like he either accepted it… or just gave up trying to figure it out.
Then he turned properly toward Cattleya again.
“Former mercenary Ray. It’s an honor, Cattleya-sama.”
“Yeah. I saw a bit of your sword form earlier—not bad. It’s got that gritty, real-battle feel.”
“I’m humbled.”
“But what Jin needs isn’t just that.”
Cattleya put her hand on the sword at her waist.
“The way you fight to survive and the way you fight to wipe out the enemy are two different things.”
She said it calmly.
“Ray, what you’ve been teaching him is how not to lose. What I’m going to teach him is how to win.”
And from there, hellish training began.
Ray’s training had focused heavily on dodging and staying alive.
Cattleya’s training was all about attack and domination.
“Your step-in is too shallow! Put more hip into it!”
“Your sword tip is wobbling! Hold the image of piercing a vital point in one strike!”
Cattleya’s teaching showed zero mercy.
She sparred with me herself, coming at me hard.
She pulled her hits at the last second, but the pressure was insane.
Just her killing intent alone felt like it could slice my skin.
“Guh…!”
I got knocked down over and over, rolling across the ground.
Covered in mud, more scrapes appearing.
“Does it hurt?”
“Y-yeah… it hurts…!”
“Then remember that pain. And move so you never have to feel it again.”
Cattleya looked down at me and said that.
Her eyes were cold.
But also really, really serious.
“You’ve got healing magic, so somewhere deep down you’re taking injuries lightly. But pain wears down your mind. If you keep getting hurt and healing over and over, eventually your heart will break.”
She hit the nail on the head.
I do tend to pull reckless moves because I think “eh, I can just heal it anyway.”
Even back when I fought the Bristle Boar, I sacrificed my arm to win.
“Win without taking a scratch. That’s the ideal. Sharpen your skill for that.”
“Yes…!”
I clenched my teeth and forced myself back up.
Ray was watching us from a little distance away.
His expression looked kinda relieved somehow.
But at the same time… maybe a tiny bit lonely.
