ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Because Mii-chan said, ‘kisses are delish,’ so I wanted to try it.”
“N-No! You can’t!!!!”
Risa-san vehemently refused it.
“Why? I want to try it since I’ve never done it before.”
Octopus Maria-san appealed by moving her puckered lips in a kissing motion.
“No matter how cute you look when you beg, it’s still a no!! You shouldn’t kiss unless it’s with someone you love!!”
“Oh, I see.”
“Maria-chan, it’s not like you love Onii-san, right? And I mean ‘love,’ like real love, not just ordinary ‘like’!!”
“Umm…”
Maria-san held my cheeks with both hands, staring at my face. Her beautiful, clear eyes seemed to pull me in.
“Hmm? What’s wrong? Maria-chan?”
“Umm…”
Maria-san kept staring at me. She looked like a doll.
“Umm… I don’t know.”
“What? You don’t know? Does that mean you ‘could like’ him-“
“Ossan! Kiiiiiiiiiiiiss!”
And suddenly, Octopus Misaki-san lunged at me with her mouth puckered. I dodged by turning my face away. That was close..
“Awww!~♡ Why did you dodgeeee~♡”
“What do you mean why?! What should we do if either of us gets aroused?!”
“Then we can just do it~♡ A real sex while kissing in the classroom~♡”
“We’re not having sex while kissing in the classroom. That’s definitely not okay.”
If we did that, my life would be over for real.
“But in your favorite porn, they’re always doing it in classrooms! And in your porn manga too!”
“All of that is just fantasy. Come on, let’s eat some omurice.”
I put Misaki-san down from my lap.
“Awww~ Ossan is so shy~♡ Wait, huh? What’s wrong, Risa?”
“Huh? Oh, uh, nothing! Anyway! We need to eat quickly! Half of our break time is already gone!”
“Woah, seriously!? We won’t have time to take photos with Ossan in our costumes!”
“Ah. Misaki-san, if you eat that fast, you’ll choke.”
“Buho!!”
Misaki-san spat out dramatically.
“See, I told you.”
I wiped around Misaki-san’s mouth. By the way, my omurice was resting snuggly on Maria-san’s lap, and about half of it was already in her stomach.
“Want some?”
Maria-san, noticing my gaze, tilted her head cutely and asked.
“Ah, then…”
As I answered, Maria-san scooped up some omurice with a spoon and brought it to my mouth.
“I’ll share mine with you. Here, ‘aah’…”
I see. So that omurice is no longer mine. Well, that’s okay, I guess.
“Wait, wait! Maria-chan!? What are you doing!?”
“He said he wanted some omurice, so I thought I’d feed him. Here, ‘aah’…”
“There’s no way you can feed Onii-san like that, absolutely not!!!”
◆◆◆
The break had ended. After Misaki-san and Risa-san had finished brushing their teeth and fixing their makeup, I walked with them to the border between the corridor and the classroom building to see them off.
“Alright! Member Maria! Make sure to keep an eye on Ossan fro us so he doesn’t cheat us with any other girls!”
“I don’t really get it, but okay.”
“I’m not going to cheat…”
After exchanging a salute with Maria-san, Misaki-san took Risa-san along and headed for the classroom.
“Hm? What’s wrong, Risa?”
“You know, if you think about it… Maria-chan and Onii-san are gonna be walking around the school alone together, right? Doesn’t that basically make it a ‘date’? A culture festival date.”
“Geez, Risa, what are you even talking about? They’re just promoting our classroom’s cafe! That doesn’t count as a date!”
“Oh yeah, that’s true. It’s not like they’re just goofing around.”
“Obviously! If Ossan is slacking off and only having fun without promoting our classroom’s cafe properly, we will make him do a penalty game! He has to make a funny face in front of everyone!”
“Ohh! That sounds great!”
Laughing cheerfully, the two of them disappeared into the ever-busy classroom.
“…”
…I need to do my best to promote the shop!!!!
“Uh, s-shall we get going too?”
“I’m full. I’ll work hard.”
Maria-san made an adorable little guts pose with both hands.
Jingle, jangle.
“But before that, can I go to the bathroom?”
“Of course. Umm, the restroom should be… Oh, it’s over there. Let’s go.”
We started walking through the lively hallway toward the restroom.
“Okay. Let’s get into the restroom together.”
Maria-san said while swinging her hands back and forth happily.
Jingle, jangle.
“Huh? Into the restroom? Together?”
“Yeah? I always go to the restroom together with Mii-chan and the others.”
…Hearing this girl talking about going into the restroom together is kind of funny…
“Fufu~ Alright. Sure, we can go together, but only up to the restroom entrance.”
“We’re going inside together.”
“Uh, yeah, no, that’s not happening. Boys and girls have separate restrooms.”
“Hmm… But how am I supposed to pee?”
Maria-san swung her left hand lazily and the silver handcuff around her wrist clinking around in return.
Jingle, jangle.
“Oh.”
The handcuff had become a part of me by now, to the point I completely forgot about its existence. Right. We were still handcuffed together.
“…Wait, huh?”
This situation…. What should we do about this…?
Jingle, jangle.
“…”
WARNING!! WARNING!!
A blaring alarm rang inside my head.

Chapter 107: Here! Your Destined Partner Is Here!
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
After successfully finishing our trip to the restroom, Maria-san and I returned to the classroom building. Just as we originally planned, we started making our way around the different class booths, each showcasing their own unique attractions, all while… No, no. We weren’t just strolling around together. We were working together to promote the Halloween café.
“What’s this?”
Along the way, we came across a classroom filled with eerie hanging objects. Was it some kind of haunted house?
“Ah! Welcome!”
A girl dressed as a witch stepped out from the room.
“Welcome to the Fortune-Telling House! Are you two a couple?”
So, it was a fortune-telling shop.
“Ah, no. We’re not in that kind of relationship.”
“I see, I see. So that’s how it is. Leave it to us!”
…What?
The witch girl sent Maria-san a mysterious wink.
“Come, come! Right this way!”
“Sorry, we’re not customers. We’re just passing through while working.”
“No problem at all! We have a three-minute express course!”
That’s way too fast….
The witch girl grabbed Maria-san’s hand and promoted her class’ service rather persistently.
“Fortune-telling!! You want to try it, don’t you!!”
“I don’t really get it, but I do want to try.”
“Right?! I can feel your enthusiasm loud and clear!”
The witch girl winked at Maria-san two, no, three times.
Just what’s with her? Well, if Maria-san herself is curious about fortune-telling, then…
“Alright, just for a little bit.”
“Thank youuu! Two guests, coming right up!”
Led by the overly enthusiastic witch girl, we stepped into the dimly lit classroom and were guided to one of three fortune-telling tents. Inside the tent, which barely fit four people, a female student dressed as a fortune-teller was already waiting. A crystal ball sat atop the table before her. The witch girl leaned in and whispered something to the fortune-teller with a mischievous grin. The fortune-teller then glanced at us and started grinning as well. This felt rather unsettling.
“Now, let’s begin!”
“Sensei, if you please!”
And just like that, the fortune-telling session began. The fortune-teller closed her eyes and moved her hands over the crystal ball in a slow, deliberate motion.
“Hmm… I see, I see…”
“Uh… Do we not need to give our names or birth dates?”
They hadn’t even asked what we wanted to be told.
“Sensei is concentrating, so please be quiet.”
The witch girl scolded me. I decided to wait silently for the results, even though I had no idea what they were actually divining in the first place. Maria-san and I watched their mysterious performance for about a minute until eventually..
“I see it!!”
The fortune-teller’s eyes snapped open.
“Sensei!! Where is this girl’s destined partner!?”
Apparently, they had taken it upon themselves to divine Maria-san’s destined partner.
“He is close! Very, very close! Right beside you!”
…Huh?
“Eeeh!? Right next to her!?”
Their acting was way too flat…
Both the witch girl and the fortune-teller turned to Maria-san and winked in unison.
“You two are a perfect match! You should start dating right away!”
“Oh my, how wonderful!”
They continued to bombard Maria-san with winks. What was this even supposed to be?
“And with that, the fortune-telling session is over. Here, a celebratory gift for you!”
“Congratulations!”
They handed us a pair of matching handmade coasters. Furthermore, the coasters were heart-shaped.
“Oh, we’ll walk you to the hallway~!”
Maria-san and I left the Fortune-Telling House, accompanied by the overly satisfied smiles of the witch girl and the fortune-teller, who were convinced they had just made a new couple.
“Be happy~!”
“Be happy~!”
What a waste of time…
“We’re a match. I’m happy.”
Well, I guess it’s fine as long as she’s happy…
“Hey, hey, what’s ‘destined partner’ mean?”
I see. So she didn’t understand any of the things the fortune-teller had said to her.
“Let’s see… It means the person you might marry in the future.”
“Then, does that mean I will marry Fried Rice Guy?”
“Ah, no, no. Those two were just spouting random things. You don’t have to take their words seriously. Besides, someone as beautiful as Maria-san would be wasted on someone like me. We’re not a good match.”
“I think we’re a perfect match.”
“Fufu~ Is that so? But you see, before marriage, you need to become a couple first. I guess we need to date now. Ahaha~ Just joking~”
I playfully ruffled her hair as I joked.
“Alright then, let’s get going! We took a little detour because of that enthusiastic girl, but let’s work hard for the second half!”
“Got it. I’ll work hard to become your lover.”
…Huh?
“Ah, no, no. We’re working hard on promoting the café.”
“I’ll work hard on that too.”
…Well, whatever.
With our matching coasters in hand, Maria-san and I resumed promoting the Halloween café. Later, completely oblivious to any implications behind the origin of the coasters, Maria-san cheerfully showed off the heart-shaped coaster.
“Hey, hey, Mii-chan, look at this! Isn’t it adorable?”
And just like that, my boss found out I had been slacking off and gave me a thorough scolding.
