Chapter 9: The Angel’s Belly Is Infinite
The Angel’s expression turned lonely and fleeting, maybe because she’d run out of baby castella.
She ate all that crepe and baby castella—surely she’s satisfied by now!
“…Nukumori-kun.”
“W-What?”
“Aren’t you hungry?”
“No way I’m hungry!”
“Mmm…”
“You… still want to eat something?”
“No… I just wondered if you wanted to eat more.”
The Angel’s eyes darted, trying to dodge the question.
Where does she even fit it all in that slender frame?
Well, she is a high school girl.
I’ve seen plenty of high school girls chowing down on insane amounts of sweets while wandering around town.
Girls are a mystery when it comes to their stomachs.
Sano-sensei said her appetite was small, but… the Angel’s true nature is starting to show.
“Then, want to make one more stop?”
“…Huh? There’s more? Matcha?”
The Angel’s face lit up with a bright, excited expression.
“But this’ll be the last matcha sweets for today, okay?”
“Yeah… I want to go.”
The Angel nodded, a soft smile spreading across her face.
She’s kind of like a little sister.
A bit spoiled, but so happy when you indulge her.
The cold, cool impression I had of her just a few days ago was gone.
This must be the real Angel.

We headed toward Asakusa Station near Kaminarimon, stopping along the way for our final matcha sweets of the day.
It was a matcha mont blanc shop, just a five-minute walk from the baby castella place.
The dessert was like a soft-serve ice cream topped with a vibrant green mont blanc, one of the most popular sweets in Asakusa.
The Angel’s eyes sparkled the moment she saw the matcha mont blanc menu outside the shop.
“This dessert… the absolute best!”
Yup, she’s calling it the best before even trying it.
“This matcha mont blanc is pretty famous too. I see it in videos all the time.”
“Let’s go inside already!”
Like an excited kid, the Angel tugged at my uniform, pulling me into the shop.
“Two matcha mont blancs.”
“Got it!”
I ordered the matcha mont blancs as soon as we entered and paid for them.
“Nukumori-kun, you’re not forcing yourself? You said you were full earlier.”
“I’m not forcing anything. Besides…”
“Hm?”
“What you said earlier, about things being ‘more delicious when we eat together’—I get that feeling too. So, I just wanted to eat more.”
“I-I see…”
The Angel gave a small, shy smile.
While we talked, the matcha mont blancs were being made right in front of us.
A handheld soft-serve cone was layered with matcha mont blanc, lemon jam, kanten jelly, and red bean paste, topped with mascarpone cream.
Then, using a mont blanc machine, delicate threads of mont blanc cream were extruded, piling up like a mountain.
Thus, a rich, freshly made matcha mont blanc was complete.
The matcha aroma was refined, and a touch of gold leaf on top added a luxurious flair.
“Here you go!”
I took both matcha mont blancs in my hands and passed one to the Angel.
“Thanks.”
“Let’s sit over there to eat.”
We sat side by side on a wooden bench inside the shop and dug into our matcha mont blancs.
Here goes, one bite…!
The gentle flavor of Japanese chestnuts blended with the deep matcha, delivering a rich sweetness to my tongue.
This is too delicious… the matcha is bold, perfectly balanced with the sweetness.
The mascarpone cream paired amazingly with the mont blanc, and the layered flavors in the cone—sweetness and all—went so well with it.
“Mmm~”
The Angel let out a blissful sigh, sounding like she was ascending to heaven.
Seems like she feels the same way I do.
I meant to just wander around Asakusa, but this turned into a full-on matcha sweets tour.
“Nukumori-kun.”
“What’s up?”
“…This mont blanc, I absolutely love it.”
“Absolutely” love, got it.

Chapter 10: The Reason the Angel Didn’t Get Sleepy
After finishing the matcha Mont Blanc and leaving the shop, the Angel and I passed through Kaminarimon and arrived at Asakusa Station.
“It’s already gotten dark, so I’ll walk you home,” I said.
“Thanks, Shunta-kun,” the Angel replied.
The Angel stands out, for better or worse, so I couldn’t leave her alone.
Even on the way to the station, people’s gazes were drawn to her.
It’s no exaggeration to say her appearance rivals that of idols on TV.
Not only does she have refined features, but her light-colored, straight hair gives her a unique presence, and the star-shaped hair clip, though slightly childish, is undeniably cute.
Her slender frame and short stature make her look almost like a child actor at first glance, but her walk and demeanor carry the elegance of a refined young lady.
There’s no way someone like her wouldn’t attract attention.
That makes me worry she could get caught up in some kind of trouble, and above all, it would be a disaster if her narcolepsy kicked in at a crowded place.
That’s probably why her mother has always been so protective of her.
Since I’ve been entrusted with her, it’s my responsibility to see her home safely.
“Oh, my mom’s at the high school,” the Angel said.
“Really? Can you let her know I’ll walk you to the school then?”
“Yeah.”
While the Angel texted her mom on LINE, I bought her train ticket, and we passed through the gate together.
As we waited for the train on the platform, the Angel gently tugged at the sleeve of my uniform.
“It’s kind of… strange,” she said.
“Strange? What is?”
“Well…”
The Angel continued in a soft voice, lost in thought.
“I didn’t get sleepy at all today.”
Not sleepy? Now that she mentioned it, that was true.
Come to think of it, she hadn’t shown any signs of sleepiness.
At some point, I was more worried about her eating too many sweets than her falling asleep.
“It’s weird. Normally, when I walk this much, I’d lose consciousness halfway through,” she said.
The Angel furrowed her brow and let out a soft “Hmmm.”
“Maybe because the sweets were so good?” I suggested.
“But… even when I have afternoon tea with Mom, I start dozing off at the table and fall asleep before I know it.”
Afternoon tea all the time? This rich girl.
“Well, I don’t know, but thanks to that, you got to eat a lot of matcha, right? That’s a good thing. Some days are just like that.”
“Yeah…”
The Angel didn’t seem entirely convinced, but she boarded the train that had just arrived.
I let her take a seat and stood in front of her, holding the strap.
She sat there, looking up at me with her eyes fixed on mine.
“Maybe… it’s because I’m with you,” she said.
“Hm? What’s that?”
“…Nothing.”
Her words were drowned out by the noise of the train and the crowd, but she gave a gentle smile and glanced at the window behind her.
