Kansai Guy Strolling Through the School.
Starting with Shi-chan, then Mio-chan, and finally Rinko—Sakura eagerly added each of them to her POINE contacts. Her face stayed bright with a genuine, beaming smile the entire time, like a child unwrapping long-awaited gifts.
“Tennouji-sama! Tennouji-sama!”
Sakura came running toward me, her steps light and hurried. Somehow… she reminded me of a dog that had just fetched a ball and was now racing back, tail wagging furiously. In my previous life, when I was little, there was this incredibly friendly golden retriever named Bess in the neighborhood. Whenever she spotted me during her walk, she’d charge over with that massive tail swinging wildly. At first, the sheer momentum terrified me—I’d cling to my mom and burst into tears. Bess never meant any harm, of course. She was just huge, and that made her scary.
But once I got used to her, I’d run up to hug her instead. She’d lick my face all over, and when I said I wanted to walk her, she’d match my tiny pace perfectly—never tugging on the leash once. She’d even glance back now and then, as if asking, “You okay? Keeping up?” She was that smart. We played together all through elementary, middle, and high school. When her time came, the old lady who owned her called me over. Bess was lying there, cold and still.
“Thank you for always playing with her. I think Bess was truly happy.”
I sobbed like a baby while laying the white lilies and chrysanthemums my mom had bought. I didn’t have many friends back then, so she was one of my few real ones. I cried so loud. She really had been a true friend.
Anyway, I got sidetracked. Sakura reminded me a lot of Bess like that. Since she was coming over with her phone in hand, I figured I should add her too.
“Tennouji-sama! Please… add me as a friend…!”
“Of course. Alright, let’s see… like this, right?”
I registered her without hesitation. Moments like this never get old—no matter how many times I do it. It was the same overwhelming joy when I added Shi-chan and the others, and again with Kentarou-kun and Shouma-kun. Still… Sakura’s a little too unguarded. That worries me.
She’s the heiress to the Harumiya conglomerate. One day she’ll have to deal with those monstrous old tycoons in the financial world—is she really ready for that? Her parents have protected her fiercely up until now, and she attended Hanajo, this insanely elite girls’ academy… Has she seen too little of the real world? She might run into a creep like Miyanosaka someday—will she be okay? Though she was plenty wary of Imamiya, so maybe she’s developed some instinct for spotting bad guys.
“Tennouji-sama… thank you so much! Fufu♪”
She clutched her phone to her chest, looking utterly overwhelmed with happiness. And with that, she was officially friends with all four of us on POINE.
Daiki: Nice to meet you. Tennouji Daiki here. Pleasure to be acquainted.
Sakura: Tennouji-sama! The pleasure is all mine!
Yeah, still the same stiff formalities. No creativity at all—my corporate drone habits from the previous life just won’t die. It was the same when I met everyone’s parents… It’s too deeply ingrained to shake off.
“Alright! POINE registration complete, right? Then let’s set off on our school exploration!”
“Yeah!”
“Ooh! Indeed!”
“Eh, do I have to say it too?”
She didn’t, but anyway—we were off on the school tour that Imamiya had apparently been plotting. Imamiya… Sakura doesn’t trust you at all, buddy. And now that she’s friends with the girl you tormented… your reputation’s only going to sink lower.
First stop: the staff room. Then the adjacent nurse’s office. I owed that nurse’s office a lot—Mio-chan took care of me there during the ball tournament. And I brought Rinko there once too.
“This is where… Dai-kun confessed to me.”
“Oh my!”
Rinko’s bullying issue. It was such petty, stupid harassment. For Rinko, though, it had been hell. I wanted to make her happy—to keep her from the dark path and that suicidal leap from the original story. Right now, she’s completely attached to me… but it’s a different kind of dependence than in the game, so it should be fine. It’s actually kind of adorable.
“Bullying… At Hanajo, nothing like that ever happened… And trying to drive someone to take their own life…”
“That’s just how it is when large groups of strangers gather. It’s weirder when it doesn’t happen.”
“I… suppose you’re right. But the son of a certain business magnate used to torment his attendants… I never wanted to get close to him.”
So she does have some wariness toward guys. Toward me, though… not so much—at least not anymore. She should probably be cautious around girls too. If anything, I think girls can be far crueler.
Next: the annex building with the specialty classrooms—science labs, drafting room, home economics room. When we reached the drafting room, Mio-chan pretended to hide something, but her face had gone stiff.
“Mio-chan.”
“Y-Yeah…?”
“Ah, Mio-chan and the drafting room…”
“…? Mio-sama, is something wrong?”
“No, no! It’s nothing! Don’t worry about it!”
“No, someone said your expression looks tense. Is this… a bad place for you?”
“Yeah… Something really, really awful happened to me here.”
Mio-chan began telling the story. As she spoke, Sakura’s expression grew darker and darker. Of course it would—I still regret not punching the guy when I think back on it.
“Um… that person named Imamiya…”
“Yeah… We were childhood friends, but I don’t have many good memories. He was always insulting me.”
“What’s wrong with Mio-sama!?”
“Eh!? Umm, he said I was spacey and clumsy, that I was getting chubby and needed to lose weight, that I should make better bentos…”
That bastard really said whatever he wanted. He never saw a single one of Mio-chan’s good points. She’s gentle and adorable. She’s not clumsy at all—she’s efficient, sharp when shopping.
He doesn’t understand the appeal of a softer figure at all. Apparently he bragged about fantasizing about her, calling her chest “captivating,” but that’s not where her charm lies. For me, it’s how soft she is all over—not just her chest. Her tummy is perfect too. Lately she’s started gaining a little confidence in her body, which is great. That plush, huggable frame… and, well, those full, desire-stirring breasts, that soft, generous rear… I could spend half a day just listing Mio-chan’s charms.
“That person… reminds me exactly of a certain man I’m uncomfortable around. I can’t stand him…”
“I recommend talking to Ashiharabashi-sensei. You should get your seat changed. He’s persistent—he’ll keep talking to you forever.”
“Right now the girls in our class—and even the whole grade—can’t stand him. The story about him throwing away Mio-chan’s bento has spread everywhere!”
It’s impressive he still shows up to school with that kind of reputation. And trying to hit on Sakura took some serious nerve. Though it’s probably over for him now.
“When I asked him to tutor me where I didn’t understand, he said, ‘You don’t even get this?’ It was seriously gross! Who does he think he is!?”
“Th-That’s awful…”
“For some reason, when I said we were having a study session at Dai-kun’s house, he told me to stop—said I’d get raped and it wouldn’t be his problem. Incredibly rude to Dai-kun.”
“What the—? I never heard that one.”
That idiot really has it out for me. What kind of nonsense is he spreading? It’s not just Rinko and the others—he’s probably badmouthing me to other classes too…
“Dai-kun would never do something like that, though.”
“Ah, yeah. Girls in other classes talk about Dai-chan too, you know? How he risked his life to protect Rin-chan, how amazing he is! That his basketball was super cool, that he’s smart—only good rumors! Some are still a little scared, but I’ve been telling everyone that Dai-chan is kind, cool, and the absolute best boyfriend!”
That’s… basically just bragging about me, isn’t it? Still, having Shi-chan say that makes me feel strong. And apparently she’s spreading not just that I saved Rinko, but that I confronted the bullying head-on.
“I’ve been telling everyone in the girls’ basketball and volleyball clubs too! But…”
“But what? They don’t believe you?”
“Um… there are actually a lot of requests… to be introduced to Daiki-kun…”
“Hah? What does that mean?”
“Wait, Mio-chan—tell us more about that.”
Hold on—the three of them suddenly started talking among themselves, eyes completely dead serious, totally ignoring me and Sakura…
That’s… kind of terrifying.
