The immortal hero who thinks of the heroines as his daughters vs. heroines who want to make the hero understand them - Chap 1
I would have been dead by now if it were normal.
The black-haired young man, Rex, almost sighed as he reflected on the fact that he hadn’t eaten anything for three days and nights.
He had resolved to travel the world, but a child who had never left that basin couldn’t manage well. He managed to cross the mountains safely, but he could hardly say that he was living a human-like life.
The clothes he was wearing were ragged from being buried in the ground all the time. They were smeared with dirt, and part of them was missing because he almost got eaten by a monster when crossing the mountain.
Thanks to a special property, he had very little baggage – in fact, he had nothing at all, but this would only arouse suspicion if he appeared in front of people.
“Haah…”
He sighed, feeling helpless.
He’s been walking non-stop for three days since he made up his mind in front of the Spirit Tree. Fortunately, after crossing the mountain, he found a maintained road, and he’s been following it. But the overgrown grass and the appearance of a road that no one has used for a long time was enough to cast a dark shadow on Rex’s heart.
The fact that he can’t see any purpose at the end of the road adds fuel to the fire. A journey without a destination might seem good at first, but gradually becomes painful, he learned.
At the beginning of the journey, his eyes were sparkling, but now they are dull… In other words, his eyes are dark as if worn out from fatigue. To the extent that people who saw him inadvertently avert their eyes.
“Hmm…?”
As he continued to think, “I hope I get somewhere soon,” he felt as though he was being watched with hostility.
Of course, Rex had no battle experience, so it was merely intuition. But the rustling sound from the bushes and the growling noise that followed were enough to believe in.
This is bad.
A trickle of sweat ran down his cheek.
He had never had to fight in his life before, so he had no weapons. If attacked by a monster or a hungry beast in this state, he would be quickly devoured. It wouldn’t result in death, but he didn’t possess a sense that transcended humanity, so it wasn’t welcome.
He slightly lowered his hips and looked around cautiously, but the effect was weak as he felt noises coming from all around.
He looked around nervously, wondering if it was coming or not…! And just as he swallowed his saliva,
“GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!”
“Ah!”
A wolf lunged at him, howling.
His thin caution paid off. Rex reflexively kicked the wolf and, feeling a strange lightness in the touch, faced it.
“…………”
Its eyes were very glaring. The golden eyes harbored a suspicious light, now soaked in murderous intent.
And its body was so thin that the bones protruded, making the lightness he felt earlier understandable.
Originally, a lone wolf was one that lost in a fight within its pack and was expelled. Unable to hunt in a group, they fail to catch prey and eventually starve to death. The wolf before him must be in the same situation. Suffering from hunger, it saw a human who wasn’t heavily armed. So, it thought to attack and eat.
“…I’m the same, you know.”
Though he’s immortal, he’s still human. There’s no way he can maintain a “healthy state” without eating anything.
Currently, Rex is in a state of severe dehydration and extreme hunger. Stones lying around looked like bread to him, and he considered biting into them many times.
He’s alive due to the power of the spirits, but that’s it.
Halfway in the coffin, as it were, he smiled, perhaps due to his broken crisis management ability.
“GRRRRRRRRRRRR…!”
The wolf growled, shaking its thin face.
Perhaps it couldn’t even secrete saliva anymore, as its mouth was parched dry.
Facing it was a near-death suspect dressed in ragged clothing. From the outside, both looked equally miserable, but for the two of them, it was a life-or-death showdown.
“I can’t… stop here…!”
“GRAAAAAA!”
“Bring it on, you!”
Incidentally, both of them collapsed from malnutrition just as they were about to begin fighting.
