Chapter 47: To the Guild with Lucina
“Ah, I slept well.”
“Zzz, zzz.”
When I woke up, it was morning, and Lucina was hugging my stomach, still asleep.
“Hey, Lucina. Wake up.”
“Uuun. oh, good morning, Big Brother.”
I woke Lucina up. She rubbed her eyes sleepily.
“Come, let’s go downstairs and have breakfast.”
“okay.”
Lucina was probably still half-asleep. Her eyes were closed again, and her head was nodding up and down.
“Can’t be helped. Let’s go.”
“okay.”
I carried my sister in my arms and headed downstairs. It reminded me of the times at home when I had to carry her like this when she wouldn’t wake up.
“Alright, eat your breakfast properly. We’re going to the adventurers’ guild today.”
“The guild?”
“Yes, the guild.”
After helping Lucina with breakfast and getting ready, we headed to the Adventurers’ Guild.
“Wow! The guild is such a big building!”
Lucina looked up at the guild in amazement. It was understandable since there were no buildings this big in our village.
“The inside is quite spacious too, and there are a lot of people.”
“I’m kind of nervous… Alright!”
Lucina placed her hand on her chest and took a deep breath. Then, with determined eyes, she walked into the guild.
“Wow! It’s really big inside too!”
“See? And over there is the board where we can take quests.”
I pointed to the board where I usually accepted quests.
“Do you always take quests from there, Big Brother?”
“Yeah, I do. Want to try taking one today?”
I asked Lucina, and she thought about it for a while, humming.
“Yeah, if we’re here, let’s try one.”
“Alright. Let’s pick one that’s not too dangerous.”
I pulled a piece of paper from the board. The quest was to gather water plants that, when infused with magic, produce clean and tasty water.
“Okay, let’s go.”
“Yeah! And don’t forget to tell me about Rena, like you promised yesterday.”
“Huh? Oh, right. I did say something like that.”
“Yes, you promised yesterday, remember?”
“Okay, okay. I’ll tell you on the way.”
Lucina walked over to me. My life isn’t that interesting, but she seems eager to know.
I wondered why she was so curious, but decided it wasn’t worth worrying about and focused on the quest instead.
“Do you take quests every day, Big Brother?”
“Nope. I make sure to take breaks. On my days off, I usually hang out with friends or just relax.”
We left the guild and started walking towards the Loia Mountains, chatting along the way.
“What are your friends like? Is it fun?”
“Yeah, my friends are a bit quirky, but they’re good people and it’s fun to be with them.”
“What kind of people are they?”
Lucina tilted her head and asked.
“Well, let’s see. There are three friends I hang out with a lot. One is a beastman, really fun and energetic. Another has blonde hair and seems kind. The third one has brown hair and wears glasses; he looks smart but is actually the biggest fool.”
“You seem to enjoy talking about them, Big Brother.”
“Huh? Do I?”
“Yeah, when you talked about the three of them, you looked really happy.”
Apparently, I looked happy while talking about them. I didn’t realize it myself, but others could see it.
“I also have friends at the guild we just visited. There are some guys, and I recently made some new friends too.”
“New friends? What are they like?”
“Well, they’re part of a famous party. There are only two all-female parties in this town, and they’re one of them.”
“…”
“Eh? What’s wrong?”
Suddenly, Lucina stopped in her tracks. It was so abrupt that it startled me. I approached her to see what was wrong.
“Tell me more about them.”
Lucina’s eyes had a strange, intense look.
When did my sister learn to make such a face?
I secretly shivered a bit when I saw her expression.
“Ah, yeah. So, I’ve been spending a lot of time with them recently. We went on a few quests together before I came back home.”
“Really? Hmm… Are they cute? Beautiful?”
Lucina was smiling, but for some reason, it didn’t feel like a genuine smile.
“Uh, yeah, I guess they’re all pretty attractive.”
“…If they’re that beautiful, I’d love to meet them.”
Oh no. I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling about this.
“Well, maybe someday. They’re busy, and it’s hard to find the time.”
“I see, that’s too bad.”
Lucina looked genuinely disappointed, which was actually a relief to me.
“Alright, let’s go.”
“Glenn?”
“…”
I recognized that voice.
Slowly turning around, I saw an elf woman with long, pale pink hair.
“Glenn, who’s that?”
“Big Brother?”
Liz seemed curious about Lucina standing next to me. Lucina, on the other hand, called out to me with an intense aura.
“The weather is really nice today, huh?”
Glenn muttered, looking at the sky, trying to reset the situation and escape reality.
“I wonder what we should eat today?”
In short, he was avoiding reality.
