Chapter 19: A Good Sleep
“Ah, I slept quite a bit.”
Rubbing my eyes, I stretched upwards with a big yawn, feeling as if I had slept for about an hour.
“Good afternoon. You were sleeping soundly, weren’t you?”
“Uh? Oh, yes, good afternoon.”
Then I noticed Carla sitting with her legs neatly together, slightly closer than before sleeping. It was unusual for her, given her usual aversion to men, to be this close. And she hadn’t left yet. Looking around, I saw other members of the group sleeping near Carla.
Why were they all sleeping here?
“Um… didn’t you go back to town earlier?”
“No, we also wanted to take it easy for once. Were we bothering you?”
“No, not at all.”
“That’s good then.”
Carla smiled faintly and gently stroked the heads of other party members. Her long black hair swayed in the breeze, looking beautiful. Her gestures were almost motherly. Considering they must be tired from yesterday’s events, maybe it was time for me to leave.
“Well, I shouldn’t intrude any longer, so I’ll head back to town now.”
“Eh?”
“Eh?”
“”Eh?””
“…”
What’s with the ‘eh?’ Are you all tired of men that much? I’m just being considerate.
“…”
“…Um, you all seem tired, so please rest up. I’ll be off then.”
“…Yes.”
And with that, I headed back to town. Thinking had become too bothersome. Today, I decided to treat myself.
Maybe I’d cook some fancy, sizzling karaage chicken tonight, with consommé soup and a specially prepared salad.
With these thoughts, I made my way towards the town.

[Carla’s POV]
“He really is a strange one, isn’t he?”
I murmured to myself while gently patting the heads of the other sleeping party members.
“I didn’t feel any unpleasant stares even when I realized everyone was asleep like this.”
I stayed awake just in case, but it seems that my worries were unnecessary.
“It’s unusual for them to sleep near a man.”
Normally, this wouldn’t happen. But after seeing him sleeping so peacefully, Liz said she’d sleep too, and then everyone else followed suit.
“Hmm.”
“Good afternoon, Liz.”
As I was thinking this, Liz woke up, rubbing her eyes still half-asleep.
“Huh?”
“It’s okay. Nothing happened.”
“Really?”
Liz looked at herself and the other members to make sure that nothing had happened. She seemed a bit surprised that nothing had.
“Carla, where is he?”
“He went back to town earlier.”
“Did he really not do anything to us?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Huh, interesting.”
Well, not to brag, but we are quite attractive.
Because of that, we’ve often received unpleasant stares from men, and some have even tried to hit on us.
So, you can imagine, we don’t have a good impression of men.
But, am I imagining it? Liz seems a bit unhappy.
“Huh, where is he?”
“He went back to town earlier.”
It looks like Alice has also woken up. It’s getting late, so let’s wake Stella up and head back to town.
“Come on, Stella, let’s go back to town.”
“Mmm, just a little longer, please.”
“No way, you always say that and then don’t get up.”
Alice shakes Stella to wake her up. Stella sits up but her head still droops sleepily.
“Well, shall we head back too?”
“Yes, let’s go home.”
We left as the day began to fade.
He was a man, but he didn’t give off a bad vibe and was easy to talk to. I kind of wish we could have talked a little more.
