Chapter 13: Festival Commotion

As usual, I woke up on time and slowly got out of bed. After getting ready, I headed downstairs to the dining hall.

“Wow, you always wake up late, don’t you?”

It’s fine, isn’t it? The best part of being an adventurer is being able to eat, sleep, and do whatever I like.

“Well, I just like to sleep well. Don’t worry about it.”

I ate Gordon’s cooking and headed to the Adventurer’s Guild.

I looked at the bulletin board to find a suitable quest.

“Guess I’ll go with this one today.”

I grabbed a request for gathering herbs and headed towards the guild’s exit. There, I ran into Spinner, whom I had met yesterday.

“Ah, off on another quest today?”

“Yeah, just gathering some herbs.”

“Right, about yesterday—”

Just as Spinner started to say something, Moon’s Droplets walked in through the guild’s entrance. 

Without even looking at the quest board, they went straight to the receptionist.

“They seem really serious today, more than usual.”

“Yeah, I guess so.”

I nodded in agreement while watching that party. It’s probably about what happened yesterday. 

Maybe they were just making sure no one was poisoned or something?

“Is the Guild Master around?”

“The Guild Master, you mean?”

“Yeah, I have something important to share.”

“Is it about the Green Dragon’s subjugation?”

“No, it’s something far more critical.”

“Uh? What would that be?”

“The Mad Azure Dragon…”

“…What?”

“The Mad Azure Dragon appeared while we were fighting.”

“”!!!””

“…Wha…wha…”

“”Whaaat!?””

Well, it’s no surprise it caused such a commotion. A creature like that being nearby is a big deal. But it’s gone now, so no need to worry.

“Oy, for real!?”

“Uhh, that sounds intense.”

I pretended not to know anything. 

If it had come here, this city would surely be devastated.

“Why are you so calm about this? You were near it too during the orc subjugation—that was really dangerous!”

Spinner really cares, he’s a good guy. I might be grinning right now.

“My bad. But hey, nothing bad happened, right?”

“Yeah, nothing ba…”

““…””

Are those four glaring at us? Why? We were just talking.

“I got carried away. But how did you manage to escape?”

“Well… because the Mad Azure Dragon was taken down.”

“”Ha!?””

Yeah, that reaction makes sense.
