The Female Hero Party That Exiled Me, All of Them Are Mentally Broken - Chapter 49
The forest on the edge of town felt wrong the moment I stepped inside.
The air clung to my skin as it was thick and heavy.
No birds were singing, and no insects buzzing, only an eerie silence filled the place.
Each time I stepped on fallen leaves, they made a squishy sound that sent a chill through me.
A sharp smell mixed with the scent of rotting leaves stung my nose.
The damp air and warm wind wrapped around my body, as if something was touching me. It felt creepy.
The deeper I went into the forest, the stronger that unpleasant feeling became.
“It’s coming, Alphonse.”
Mako-san’s voice echoed in my head, and it was sharper than usual.
Then, thud! The ground shook hard, and the thick bushes ahead were violently pushed aside.
What appeared was a monster unlike anything I had ever seen.
It looked like a huge lump of black sludge shaped into flesh.
It had no real form and just a shifting mass that made sticky sounds as it moved.
A strong presence filled the air, and it was pressing against my skin like sharp needles.
The moment I saw it, cold sweat ran down my back.
“I thought I could do this, but I really want to go home!”
I almost turned around to run.
But behind me, more black figures had already blocked my way.
There was no escape.
I had to fight.
Fear made my legs feel weak.
But inside me, a strange power was overflowing. It was thanks to what happened yesterday.
The wild energy and desire forced onto me had turned into magic, rushing through my body.
For some reason, I felt like I could do this.
Whoosh! A sharp sound cut through the air.
Part of the monster’s body turned into a whip-like tentacle and shot straight toward my face at incredible speed.
I kicked off the ground and jumped far back.
My body was stronger than I expected. I moved lightly, like a spring, and dodged the tentacle.
The tentacle hit the ground with a sound, and that sent up white smoke. The ground quickly melted and caved in.
“Whoa, I’m done for if I get hit by that!”
I pulled out my sword and made the blade glow blue-white with magic.
It was powered by something called lewd energy, which was not pure at all, but it was extremely strong.
I stepped forward fast, cutting through the wind, and swung my sword at the monster’s huge body.
ZBAAASH! With a sharp sound, the black lump of flesh was cut clean in two.
Rotten liquid splashed everywhere, and it filled the air with a strong smell.
“Haa!”
I cast a fire spell and threw a burning fireball at one of the split pieces.
Gooooo! A huge explosion of flames burst out. Hot wind blew through the forest, drying the damp air in an instant.
“Did we get it?!”
Mako-san’s voice sounded hopeful in my head.
I also felt like I had done it, and I stared through the flames while breathing hard.
But then I saw something that made me doubt my eyes.
The monster I had cut in half and burned was now slowly melting back together.
Black sludge came out from the burned parts, and the wounds disappeared as if they were never there.
“No way!”
Its healing power was unbelievable.
In panic, I swung my sword again and used lightning and ice magic one after another.
I cut, burned, froze, and crushed it.
But the monster did not seem to feel any pain.
With squishy sounds, it kept returning to its giant shape again and again.
My breathing became ragged, and I could feel the lewd energy boost wearing off.
My muscles felt heavy like lead, and my lungs screamed for air.
No matter how much I attacked, I couldn’t defeat it. That feeling of hopelessness slowly tightened around my heart.
The monster seemed to laugh at me.
Countless red eyes appeared all over its body.
All of them moved and stared directly at me. A dark feeling grew stronger, like it was attacking my instincts.
Hit by its killing intent and terrible smell, I dropped to my knees.
“I’m scared. What is that thing?”
The confidence I had just moments ago was gone in an instant.
My teeth wouldn’t stop chattering, and my whole body started shaking.
Facing something with overwhelming power, I had completely lost the will to fight.
I placed my hands on the ground and could only crawl backward in fear.
“Mako-san! Take over!”
I tried to give control of my body to Mako-san.
If it were Mako-san, who was once a Demon King, she should be able to defeat this unknown monster easily.
But my vision did not change.
My body still shook under my own control, and Mako-san’s powerful magic did not appear.
“Why!? Mako-san!”
“No, Alphonse!”
Mako-san’s voice sounded more panicked than ever.
“The evil energy from that thing is too strong! It is rejecting my magic power! If I try to take control now, your body will not hold, and you will die!”
“What?!”
Even the only hope I had was blocked.
I was completely trapped.
The monster formed something like a huge jaw and opened a deep black void inside it.
A horrible smell like rotten trash stabbed my nose, and I frowned in disgust.
Countless tentacles bent like whips and all swung down at me at once.
“Aaaah!”
I braced myself for death and shut my eyes tightly.
But no matter how long I waited, the pain of my body being crushed never came.
DOOOOAAAN! Instead, a huge explosion shook the forest, and it was loud enough to shake my ears.
I quickly opened my eyes.
All the tentacles that were right in front of me were blown to pieces by a powerful shockwave.
As the dust slowly cleared, I saw three familiar figures standing in front of me.
“Don’t you dare touch my cute little brother!!”
Naitsu-san stood there with a huge great sword resting on her shoulder as her eyes burned with anger.
“Only we are allowed to mess with Al!!”
Hero Yuria released an overwhelming fighting spirit and held her holy sword ready.
“You evil monster! I will physically purify you with my holy prayer!!”
Saint Serara held a thick magic book in one hand, while her fist was strangely wrapped in holy light.
But something was different.
They were not showing their usual strange behavior, and they were showing overly excited behavior.
They had properly put on their clothes again, standing firmly like true adventurers.
“Everyone!”
Even though their reasons might have been questionable, they looked like the most reliable hero party in the world right now.
I felt completely relieved and collapsed onto the ground, letting out a long breath.
