Chapter 41: Liam, Sleeping Together With Lydia

“Liam-san, may I have a word with you?”

After entering the room and sitting on the bed to rest, Lydia-san spoke to me with a certain firmness laced in her voice.

“Y-yes!”

I was a bit flustered by Lydia-san’s tone, but managed to say my reply, albeit a bit nervously.

Lydia-san said, “Excuse me,” and sat next to me on the same bed. I focused intently, waiting for her next words. I was wondering what she wanted to talk about when Lydia-san asked me.

“Earlier… When you carried her in a princess carry, your bodies were quite close to her, right? How did you feel about that?”

“Huh? H-How did I feel…?”

“Yes.”

Suddenly shoved with a difficult question by Lydia-san, I was a bit confused. If she were to ask what I had thought at that moment, then….

“I was a bit embarrassed, but more than the feeling of embarrassment, I didn’t want to leave Meria-san behind. The feelings of not wanting to leave her behind were stronger than my embarrassment, so I managed to push through it all the way here.”

I didn’t understand why Lydia-san kept asking me all these questions, especially while looking that rigid, but I didn’t want to lie to or keep anything from her. Hence why, I decided to answer her questions truthfully. 

“I… I didn’t know how to feel. I was confused, I guess?”

I answered honestly, but Lydia-san only stared at me for a moment before she asked me another question.

“…Is that really all?”

“…Huh?”

I was surprised because it was rare for Lydia-san to question my words like that. Then Lydia-san continued on.

“To be honest… I found myself feeling jealous of her… The fact that you carried her in a princess carry and the fact that she could be so close to you… And more than anything, just thinking that you might be seeing her as a woman made my heart brimming with jealousy.”

“Se-Seeing her as a woman… Jealousy…”

While I was trying to understand Lydia-san’s feelings after hearing her honest confession, Lydia-san continued on.

“Liam-san… Because of that, I have a request for you today. Would that be alright?”

“What is it…?”

When I asked her back, Lydia-san looked a bit embarrassed. Still, despite the embarrassment, she still answered my question in a calm voice. 

“If possible… I would like you to sleep beside me tonight.”

“…Huh? Wha-What?!”

I couldn’t stop myself from exclaiming in surprise after hearing Lydia-san’s request. S-sleep beside her!? M-me and Lydia-san!?

“Since we’re sleeping in a separate room from her, it should be possible, right? Besides.. If I may say something a bit childish, considering that she got to be carried in a princess carry by Liam-san and yet, Liam-san hasn’t done anything yet to me, I feel the current status quo is a bit unfair…”

“I-I see, but umm… Lydia-san, as a knight of the Astoria family, is it really okay for you to sleep in the same bed with a man?”

“Are you talking about whether you should take responsibility of me or not?”

“Yes.”

I nodded in response to her question and Lydia-san raised the corners of her mouth into a smile before she said. 

“In that case, you don’t need to worry about that. From the moment you saw me in my underwear in that cave when we first met, you were already obliged to take responsibility of me.”

“Wha-?!”

I stood there, flabbergasted by her words as Lydia-san continued. 

“I will wait here, so Liam-san. Please go ahead and take a bath first.”

“…! O-okay! I got it!”

I said as I stood up from the bed and headed toward the bathroom. After washing my body clean and trying to calm my panicking mind down, I finished my bath and came out to our room again. Then, it was Lydia-san’s turn to take a bath. While waiting for Lydia-san, I couldn’t stop myself from feeling nervous. I felt so fidgety, but eventually, Lydia-san also finished her bath. She came into the room again to meet my gaze. 

“Thank you for waiting. Now then. Liam-san, shall we go to sleep now?”

“Ye-Yes…!”

Following Lydia-san’s suggestion, I lay down together on the same bed as her. Lydia-san, still fresh from the bath, was laying right beside me. She smelled so nice! For some reason, I felt so embarrassed! I turned my face away from her, but then…

“Huh?!”

Lydia-san suddenly hugged me from behind and at the same time, I could feel two large and yet soft and elastic objects being pressed against my back. Co-Co-Co-Could it be… Lydia-san’s chest? But Lydia-san always wore her armor that covered her chest… Ah! Right! Of course she would remove her armor when she slept!

“Ly-Lydia-san?!”

I called out her name, but my voice came out as a croak. Still, there was no response from her. Maybe Lydia-san was already asleep? In that case, I really shouldn’t wake her up… She must be exhausted from running all day long to the Demon Kingdom. 

“…”

I knew I would have a long day ahead since I wanted to challenge Empress-san for a fight… Not to mention, we had to search for the perpetrator that tried to destroy the Elf Kingdom too… I had to sleep early so I could wake up feeling refreshed tomorrow and yet… I couldn’t seem to fall asleep. Lydia pretended to be asleep while holding Liam from behind. She remained silent even after Liam called out her name. 

Liam-san, you’re now seeing me as a woman, right? You must be feeling shy, aren’t you? And yet, for me to be able to hold you directly like this… Liam-san, please let me touch you some more. 

Lydia whispered these thoughts in her heart as she tightened her hold around Liam even more.
