Chapter 23: Liam, Dominating Completely

“Wha—…! What did you say, Liam—”

Zayn-san retorted angrily and I grabbed his fist and infused a little bit of my magic power into my hand and sent him flying easily. 

“Ugh…!!”

Hearing Zayn-san groaning in pain, I said again. 

“Zayn-san, even if you’re holding back because of your kindness, but I still don’t plan on holding back. Lydia-san is important to me, so… Zayn-san, please fight me with everything you have.”

“….That’s exactly what irritates me about you! That expression on your face that practically screams this is nothing for you… I really hate it! I’m going to wipe that cocky expression off your face with my fist!”

Zayn-san last yelled before he charged at me recklessly. I then fired a lightning attribute magic at him.

“ARGHHHH!!”

Receiving a direct hit of my lightning magic, Zayn-san dropped to his knees, gasping for breath. 

“Bella-san’s buff magic should still be in effect, right? So why aren’t you moving at full speed?”

I remembered when I still belonged to Zayn-san’s party. Zayn-san was able to move ten times faster than he was now due to the effect of Bella-san’s buff magic. He should be able to dodge my lightning magic with that kind of speed and even if he were to get hit by my lightning magic, an attack of that level shouldn’t cause him much damage. Zayn-san was much stronger than this after all. Hence why, I found it strange to see him this battered. 

“My whole body hurts so much… I can’t stand it anymore…I might die for real if I get hurt any more than this.”

“Of course I won’t take your life, Zayn-san. But, you need to promise me that you won’t speak ill of the people who’ve been kind to me then I’ll—”

“AND THIS IS THE REASON WHY YOU’RE SUCH A DUMBFUCK!!”

Zayn-san said before he charged recklessly at me again. I was about to use the same lightning magic I had used before, but… I stopped myself.

“If I said I’m already reaching a point where another hit is going to kill me, then you can’t attack me anymore, right??? Do you know what that means?? That means I can attack you without any worry! You can’t retaliate anymore!”

Zayn-san swung his fist high and brought it down toward me, but I dodged it easily. 

“So this is your real plan all along… Taking my hit and only attacking me weakly on purpose… Well, of course. There’s no way someone like me could completely dominate an A-rank adventurer like Zayn-san who’s being enhanced by Bella-san’s buff magic. This is the only plausible reason.”

“…!!”

I murmured to myself while Zayn-san continued swinging his fist at me. Flurry of punches came at me but I dodged them all. Still, Zayn-san was too slow. Zayn-san had revealed his true plan to me, so he shouldn’t have any reason to hold back anymore… Oh. Maybe the damage he had taken was slowing him down? In any case, he wouldn’t be able to hit me at this speed. No matter how hard he tried to hit me, none of his fists would land on me.

“Hah…. Hahhh…. Ugh… Shit!!”

I kept dodging his fists and Zayn-san, who had taken a lot of damage from me, ran out of stamina first. He stopped swinging his fist to catch his breath. 

“You… You’re just dodging like crazy… Are you that scared of my fist?”

“I mean, there’s no point in getting myself hit on purpose if I can dodge it. At least, not right now.”

“Tch…! Huh…?”

Zayn-san averted his gaze to the side and then, as if he had thought of something good, he grinned before coming charging at me again. I was wondering if he was going to repeat the same thing again, but to my surprise, he stopped midway. Then, he ran toward the inn beside us.

“Zayn-san…? What are you—”

“You! Elf woman! If you don’t want to get hurt, you better do exactly as I say!”

Elf woman…?! Could it be… Zayn-san was planning to take someone hostage?!

I immediately turned my attention to the inn and yelled.

“Zayn-san! You’re no different than a kidnapper if you—”

While I was yelling, I finally saw the woman Zayn-san was targeting. He was running to a certain red-haired elf woman with his sword drawn. The elf woman was dressed in a very revealing clothing and she had a very beautiful figure. That elf woman was none but Meria-san. 

At this rate, Meria-san would… Oh  no!

Realizing how grave the situation was, I quickly shouted.

“RUN AWAY!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!”

“Ha! There’s no way I’m going to run away now!”

Zayn-san was getting nearer and nearer to Meria-san, so I shouted again, more desperate this time. 

“RUN AWAY, ZAYN-SAN!!! YOU’RE GOING TO DIE IF YOU KEEP GOING!!”

“Huh??? Do you think that stupid lie is going to fool me?! I’m going to use her as a meat shield! There’s nothing a stupid guy like you can do to me, Liam!! After I take her hostage, I’m going to beat you to pulp!!”

The distance between Zayn-san and Meria-san was getting shorter and then… At that moment..

All of a sudden, a surge of powerful magic emanated from Meria-san. Her entire body was clad in powerful magic tempest and given Zayn-san was not in his prime condition, he couldn’t brace himself against the pressure. The pressure was enough to blow him away, causing him to fall to the ground without being able to break his fall first. However, Meria-san didn’t seem to care in the slightest. Instead, she only smiled coldly at Zayn-san. 

“Someone like you dares to call Liam-kun stupid… It’s truly amusing to hear that from someone like you out of all people… By the way, do tell me. Do you prefer to be burned alive or frozen alive? I recommend being frozen alive. At least, your death will be swift.”
