Chapter 17: Liam Is Being Invited by Lydia
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“…Lydia-san? Is something wrong…?”
I voiced my concern at Lydia-san and she responded by wearing a somewhat gloom expression on her face.
“Liam-san… At this rate, it will be only a matter of time before you get deceived by that woman called Esmeria or something… No. It’s only a matter of time before you get defiled by her.”
“De-Defiled…?!”
“That’s right. Regardless, I don’t want you to get defiled by a vulgar woman like her.”
Lydia-san as she moved closer to me. Our distance was practically non-existent. She gazed directly into my eyes and whispered with a look of ecstasy in her face.
“Since Liam-san is at the risk of being defiled by someone like her… Then… Then I will… Liam-san, please come this way.”
“Ly-Lydia-san?!”
Gripping my wrist firmly, Lydia-san suddenly guided me to somewhere else. Though I was feeling flustered, but I still followed her nonetheless. She didn’t leave the room. She only changed the location. Yes. We were now sitting together on the bed.
Then, with a slight blush adorning her cheeks, Lydia-san leaned in close to me and asked.
“Liam-san… Have you ever been in a special relationship with a woman before…? Have you ever dated before?”
“Re-Re-Relationship? N-No! I never! In the first place, I don’t think I deserve to date anyone, let alone have a special relationship with anyone! I-I mean, the closest I’ve come is being in the same party as someone, but that’s it! I never have any special relationship or anything!”
It was bad enough that I had gotten expelled from the A-rank party I had been in, but I also had been relying on Lydia-san for various things during this journey. I definitely believed I wasn’t someone worthy to date a woman. While I wasn’t exactly sure what Lydia-san meant by ‘special relationship’, but the only thing that came to my mind was the female adventurer in Zayn-san’s party. Our relationship was strictly a party mate though.
“Me too… I’ve never been in a relationship with a man, nor have I had any kind of special relationship with anyone… It’s because up until now, I’ve never met anyone who made me feel that way. But…”
“Huh…?”
Lydia-san suddenly placed her hand over mine. Her cheeks flushed in an ever deeper shade of red. Her voice carried a soft sweetness as she spoke.
“Liam-san, you’re my lifesaver. You’re strong and you are the kindest person I’ve ever met… If it’s you… Liam-san, I… Please, Liam-san… Would you—”
But before Lydia-san could finish speaking, a loud noise came roaring from the door, followed immediately by a woman’s voice that sounded familiar to me.
“Found you!~ Whoa~ Look at you two! Sitting on the bed together!”
It was Meria-san. She came barging in through the door with a mischievous grin on her face as she teased us both.
“Hey, hey~ What are you two planning on doing there on the bed?~ Better yet, what were you doing before I came?~ Come on~ Don’t be shy~ Tell me~”
“First, please explain how did you find this place. Please keep your answer brief and concise.”
All the sweetness in Lydia-san’s voice vanished in an instant, replaced by the curt and icy coldness that would send anyone shivering from fear. Her angry tone was sharper than ever before. She glared at Meria-san with hostility. It was clear to see that Lydia-san was upset about something, but there was something different about her anger this time. Yet, Melia-san remained unfazed. She responded casually, just like before.
“Well~ It’s easy~ Well, I do think it was smart of you to try to put some distance between us by using teleportation magic, but you see?~ One thing about magic is that it leaves traces~ I simply just followed those traces… Well, I didn’t expect you would’ve teleported this far though. That was the only reason why I got here late.”
“I see. In that case, I won’t ever use teleportation magic anymo—No. It’s pointless to have further discussion with you, as your head will be severed right here and there by me.”
“Hm??? Oh! Perhaps… Did I interrupt something?~ Of course I did. I definitely interrupted something, right?~ Sorry about that! But you know…. I can’t exactly step aside either, you know?~”
Seemingly reaching her limit, Lydia-san stood up abruptly from the bed and readied her sword. Flustered, I also got up from the bed. I grabbed Lydia-san as she was about to reach the hilt of her sword and immediately said.
“Ly-Lydia-san! Please calm down! If you start fighting here, the inn will get destroyed! Everyone at the inn will be in danger if you were to swing your sword here!”
“But…! Huh…?! Li-Liam-san, you’re holding my hand….”
Lydia-san was about to yell again, but for some reason, she changed her mind. She muttered something in a voice too low for me to hear. However, I had a more pressing matter to attend to!
“I understand you have the urge to act out when you’re angry… But! Please, please don’t take your sword out… Can you please take your hand away from your sword, Lydia-san?”
Upon hearing this, Lydia-san’s anger seemed to disappear. She returned to the usual calm Lydia-san, although she still seemed a bit tense? It was a different kind of tense though. She didn’t seem angry anymore.
“…If Liam-san says so… Very well. I understand.”
Lydia-san said as she eased the tension in her hand, allowing me to release the grip she had on her sword.
“Meria-san, since you’ve come all the way here… Do you have anything you need to discuss with you?”
“Ah! As expected of Liam-kun! You’re so quick on the uptake!~”
Meria-san exclaimed merrily before suddenly, her expression turned serious.
“Actually… There’s something that I absolutely need your help with, Liam-kun. It’s about the Elf Kingdom.”
