Chapter 16: The Paramour’s Lie Gets Exposed and All Hell Breaks Loose
――――【Alicia’s Perspective】
We were on the relatively shallow tenth floor of the dungeon, but Amiro Soma was showing even more irritation than usual.
“These small fry are so damn annoying!!!”
A swarm of skeletons surrounded Amiro Soma and Sarashina Yuki. Amiro Soma swung his longsword high and slammed it down on a skeleton. The one right in front of him had its torso bones sliced clean through and collapsed. But more skeletons kept pouring in like aphids.
With swings that sloppy, he would just wear himself out…
The barrier I put up around myself, Kakehi Misato, and Arisugawa Lemon meant the low-level monsters had not noticed us.
“Alicia! Why aren’t you putting a barrier on me too! Do your job properly! Are you a kid or what?”
“Too bad. My barrier is originally meant for three people at most. Didn’t you know the reason six could fit before was because Hinata strengthened it with a buff?”
Amiro Soma clicked his tongue.
The simple reason Amiro Soma was struggling was that, in his rush to challenge a dungeon speedrun, he pushed deeper and deeper before our bodies could adapt to the miasma flooding the place, so we all had debuffs.
Hinata used to calm down the impatient Amiro Soma while buying time for the rest of us to get used to the miasma.
Whenever we were about to go down a floor or enter a room that likely held a boss—anywhere dangerous—Hinata would always excuse himself, saying tension had upset his stomach. Amiro Soma used to mock him for it. “Nezha’s tummy ache again? He’s way too nervous!”
But I found out the truth.
He had been secretly going ahead to clear threats so we would not run into danger…
I thought the bathroom breaks were taking too long, so I got worried about Hinata and searched every spot where someone might relieve themselves—using my shikigami too—but he was nowhere.
On a hunch, I sent shikigami to the next floor to gather information, and they came back with results far beyond simple scouting—more like a full reconnaissance sweep.
Yet Amiro Soma never noticed any of that. He underestimated Hinata and used his party leader authority to keep him stuck as a D-rank explorer. Even I was B-rank…
Now that Hinata had been kicked out of the party, I had no reason to keep putting up with Amiro Soma’s selfishness.
“Sorry, but we’re pulling out here.”
“What!? Alicia, what the hell are you saying! Don’t joke around!”
I turned against Amiro Soma. While blocking skeleton blades, he swung around with a shocked look on his face.
“I’m not joking. You abandoned us and retreated, remember. The one who saved us was Hinata.”
“Exactly.”
“Yeah!”
Kakehi Misato and Arisugawa Lemon nodded firmly at my words. They must have been fed up with Amiro Soma’s high-handed ways too.
Even though we were inside a dungeon, Amiro Soma and Sarashina Yuki walked so close together it felt like a date. Then Amiro Soma started groping her right in front of us. He touched not just her waist but her chest and butt too, and Sarashina Yuki did not look unhappy about it at all…
Watching those two had been downright disgusting.
If we left now, his speedrun would fail. He had bragged on stream to the whole world that he would beat the thirtieth-floor boss in under three hours and come back triumphant for revenge, but that was none of our concern.
Panicking at my withdrawal announcement, Amiro Soma blurted out words he absolutely should not have said right then.
“Alicia! You’re my fiancée, aren’t you! You’re going to abandon me, you heartless bitch!!!”
Hearing Amiro Soma’s slip, Sarashina Yuki put a hand over her mouth and her face went pale.
“…Fiancée!?”
From the look on Sarashina Yuki’s face, Amiro Soma clearly had not explained anything to her properly. Knowing him, he probably saw her as nothing more than a side fling.
“Amiro! What do you mean Alicia is your fiancée? Hey! Hey!”
“Shut up! If you’ve got time to worry about that, heal me! Or the monsters will gang up on you and rip your arms off just like Nezha!”
“Eek!? N-no, I don’t want that… H-help me, Nezha… I’m scared, Nezha…”
Amiro Soma had almost certainly fed Sarashina Yuki obvious lies like “I only love you” to steal her from Hinata.
Even if she had been deceived, the fact remained that she switched from Hinata to Amiro Soma…
Honestly, I was not angry about that.
What I could not forgive was that Sarashina Yuki never once protested Hinata’s expulsion from school.
Even if she fell for Amiro Soma, she abandoned Hinata—the one who had quietly protected and supported her low-level self the whole time.
That alone was absolutely unforgivable.
“Let’s go, Kakehi, Arisugawa.”
“Yeah!”
“Okay!”
I thought they might object a little, but it seemed we all felt the same way.
They would have a rough time, but at this shallow depth rescue would come. They would not die. It would just cost a lot…
“Yuki! Quit dawdling! Hurry up, you slowpoke!”
“I’m doing it, so don’t get mad… Nezha never got angry…”
“What did you say!? Are you saying I’m beneath Nezha! Don’t screw with me!”
“I didn’t say that!”
“Amiro… You were the one who invited Sarashina into the party, right? Then as party leader, isn’t it your duty to protect her?”
“Alicia! You… You know what’ll happen once we get out, right!”
“You plan to get me expelled just like Hinata? That would actually help me out. But the one who’d be in trouble then would be you, Amiro.”
“Ugh!? Damn youuu!!!”
If he expelled me too and I declared the engagement broken from my side, I would finally be free to go to Hinata…

God, you did NOT need to tell me what they are doing; I had the urge to puke
