While wiping the windows Kayla spoke up as if she had suddenly remembered something important. It seemed pretty crucial.

“Oh, that’s right, Ariann-sama. There’s something I need to tell you. It seems like the Officials are covering up a lot regarding that incident. I still have no leads on information about that man. Have you made any progress from your end?”

That man she referred to is the one we saw when we were kids. He is definitely involved in the incident in some way or other, but we still couldn’t get a single lead on him. I and Kayla are chasing to find out about the truth of that incident, which is one of the reasons why I am participating as a member in that only girl’s party.

“So that was really the case huh, I had a feeling about that as well. But, I haven’t made any progress, sorry. I’ve been enjoying being an adventurer, setting that aside.”

Feeling apologetic, I said that, and Kayla turned towards me, showing a smile that she usually doesn’t display.

“I’m just happy to see you’re enjoying yourself, Ariann-sama. I’ll support you no matter what, so please fight or my sake as well.”

“Yeah, I hope the day comes when I can introduce you to everyone in my party as well.”

“Well, maybe someday. Personally, I’m also a big fan of the Pure White Pigeons, and I especially adore Mea-chan. I often see her in the local newspaper.”

Kayla expressed her maternal affection for Mea quite openly. Mea on the other hand, she probably wouldn’t like that if she heard about this.

“Don’t treat me like a child!”

She says this so often.

Well, that’s fine too. Kayla is around the same age as her, so I think they could become good friends. I also want her to live a proper and fulfilling life. She, like any girl, probably wants to experience love too. She looks like having a comfortable life as a maid, but truthfully, we both lack education. It’s not like we don’t have the common understanding of things, but we never got formal education.

While I was seriously pondering about that, Kayla, who was acting like a mature girl moments ago, approached me with a mischievous smile.

“So, apart from all that, …to be honest, which girl are you aiming for in the party? After all, you do have myriads of options to pick from, right~?”

She said that with a slightly mocking laugh as if making fun of me. She even expressed herself in my current situation with a blatantly ridiculous gesture of rubbing someone’s chest with both hands.

“Oi, Oi, if I had such malicious thoughts, the party won’t last. Sure, there are times I think someone in my party is adorable, but that doesn’t mean I’ll cross those forbidden lines in any way.”

I hurried on with my sweeping. I’m friends with these girls… But if they find out I’m a guy in their all girls-only party… I’ll surely be expelled.

“In that case, would you want to dump all that into me? After all, I’m your maid.”

I can say that she was trying to maintain her composure with just twirling the ends of her short hair on her fingertips. After which, Kayla placed her hand on the hem of her maid uniform, which made me lose my composure.

“!?!”

“It’s a reward for the ever so hard working, Ariann-sama. Come on, feel free to ask anything from me.”

Saying that she fluttered her skirt. Can I really ask Kayla to do anything for me? W–Well, technically, we are in a servant-master, so it’s probably not impossible. But …I don’t want to define our current relationship in that sense. Our present relationship is standing because I am her close friend.

If I were to agree to her proposal, it would absolutely tarnish the current relationship I have built with her until now. …I can’t do that
