Chapter 26
The place we headed to was a large arena, typically used for training the personal guards of nobles. It was completely soundproof, ensuring no information inside would leak out. Whether this was something good or bad was uncertain, but it did mean that I could use my full power without revealing my blessing at all.
Mirai and Father-sama watched from the spectator seats. I stood on the flat ground, facing Christopher, who radiated murderous intent towards me. In this complete silence, our eyes locked towards each other. This clash between our eyes happened between our willpower. Who would make the first move? Who would take the first step? Every nerve in my body was focused on reading that. Fighting another person is certainly exhausting.
“Arrian-kun was it, was it? You look quite skilled.”
“And so are you.”
“Why haven’t I ever heard of a swordsman as talented as you?”
“A lot of things happened you see.”
“I see. Then, I’ll have you crumble already then.”
With those words, he kicked off the ground. He was much faster than I had imagined. Even though I was confident on my abilities, but still, in an instant, my hope that I would be able to do something without my blessing was lost. Right now, since I don’t know what his blessing is, the only thing I can do is guess.
As Ariann caught sight of Christopher, a dull thud echoed through the arena, followed by which Mirai’s shrill scream was heard.
“You deflected it just in time huh.”
“That was quite close. I almost had my head flying there.”
Mirai’s scream was likely due to the blood dripping down from my left thigh. The reason I couldn’t completely deflect his attack was probably because of his blessing. His sword had forced its way through. So, is it just some simple muscle enhancement or localized body strengthening?
“My blessing is enhanced grip strength. You’ve probably figured that out by now, so I decided to say it aloud. With my next move, you will surely die without even able to block. As it’s proof, you can barely hold your sword even now.”
Since I received and blocked his sword in a strange way, I must have twisted my wrist as a result. Gripping my sword caused sharp pain. If Mirai were here, she could have healed me with magic right away. Maybe I’ve relied too much on my party members until now.

“Father-sama, please stop that already. I will agree to the marriage. That’s why, please just let Ariann go.”
Mirai pleaded, clutching her Father’s hand. But he continued to watch the arena, not caring to look at her even for a moment. It felt like, he wasn’t actually looking at a scene where he could see Ariann die.
“Mirai, have you ever witnessed his blessing?”
“H–his blessing? Now that you mention it, I never had think I have.”
“That’s right. He hasn’t given up yet.”

Accepting the pain coursing through my hand, I gripped my sword again, and smiled in a way to distract the pain and agony from coursing through.
“Thank you. Now then, guess it’s about time for me to counterattack.”
“Don’t bluff.”
“You’re quite right, it’s a bluff. I don’t really want to fight you. But then, she’s also involved you see. A man has to put on a brave face and act tough in front of a girl, isn’t that right?”
“Guess you can talk.”
Saying that, he laughed, Mirai watched them silently as it went.
“Limit release.”
The voice echoed throughout the arena.
